A/N: This is only the first part of the chapter. It was taking me so long to write it that I wanted to reward y'all for your patience. :)

Ely:

A heavy door clicked shut behind me. A pair of cold hands nearly ripped what remained of my clothes off before shoving me under the spray of water that wasn't much warmer. Something hard and rough touched the skin on my back, making me flinch. I hadn't really felt the stinging scrapes covering my skin, but I definitely felt that and it wasn't pleasant.

The rest of the shower was awful and traumatic. I was sure I'd need therapy after the way the faceless woman had scrubbed at my skin. Feeling like a half-drowned rat, the woman helped me into a pair of scrubs. A shiver went down my spine as her fingers helped me into the shirt. Something seemed off about the woman, but I wasn't sure what.

Once I was dressed, the woman lead me back into the room we'd been in before. She left my side and moved to the other side of the room. Papers rustled loudly. I stayed put, knowing that if I moved, I'd probably end up face planting.

"It looks like the discharge papers have gone through. Let's get you into the wheelchair, young lady." I cringed as she moved towards me.

Before she could reach me, a jacket was draped over my shoulders again. "Put this on, Kit," Dom rasped. Recognizing it as a jacket, I slid my arms into the sleeves.

The nurse huffed. "I'll be right back with her release form." Her footsteps echoed down the hallway as she left.

"Do I look horrible?" I lifted my head in Dom's direction.

His silence spoke volumes before he finally replied, "Of course not."

My breath huffed out of my lungs in amusement. I guess it was a good thing I wasn't overly vain. "You're not lying very well."

"You don't look horrible, Kitten. You're covered in cuts. There's glass in your hair, still. Fuck, Kit. I'm afraid that touching you will cause you more pain."

Gently rubbing my fingers against my arm, I shook my head. "I'm not really feeling anything right now, to be honest."

Someone chose that moment to open the door and step inside. Something squeaked as it was pushed into the room ahead of them. "Here's the wheelchair. The doctor is signing her release form since someone signed to say they'd care for her. Once I have the release form, she'll be free to go."

Fine. That's cool. Let's just talk about me like I'm not here. I opened my mouth to speak, only to have Dom cut me off. "Thank you, Ma'am." I imagined him tipping his black cowboy hat at her and scowled.

The woman came closer and I cringed. Her breath smelled like a mix between stale beer and breath mints.

"Your chariot, m'lady." Dominic's voice appeared in my ear as he lifted me into the air. Wrapping my arms around his neck, I relaxed against him. This was much better than that woman's cold claws. She'd never introduced herself to me, so I had no idea what her name was.

The woman heaved a sigh as someone appeared in the room. They quickly left without a word and the nurse grumbled, "You're free to go. Please use the wheelchair to take her to the waiting room." Her footsteps moved away from us and into the hallway.

When Dom didn't move, I shifted my weight. I'd love to be able to see, right now. At least then I'd know what sort of mood he was in. "Is something wrong?"

"No. I just wanted to make sure she was far enough away that I could get away with walking you out of here without the wheelchair." He shifted me in his arms before quickly moving in the opposite direction as the nurse had gone.

"Ely!" Shawn's shout reached my ears just as a pair of arms wrapped around my waist, pulling me away from Dom.

I wrapped my arms around Shawn's neck, taking comfort in his familiar embrace. Dom kept a hand on my knee, letting me know that he was still nearby as he asked, "Where's J?"

"Getting the car." Shawn's voice was brusque as he added, "You're still on my fucking shit list."

"Don't fight." I paused, sticking my bottom lip out for good measure.

"We're not," they both replied in unison. Shawn bounced me slightly, forcing a squeak out of me as I tightened my arms around his neck.

One of his arms disappeared and I tightened my arms even more. "El, loosen up a little. I'm not going to drop you." The button on his phone clicked softly before he added, "Jordan's outside."

I could feel myself start to panic a little when Shawn started walking. It was unnerving to be blind. I only had a vague idea about where we were going. A blast of cold air hit my face, making me shiver. My hair was still dripping down my neck, sending little chills down my spine and making me break out in goose bumps.
