This is my first post to reddit, so i apologize if it doesn't read as well as I'd like it to. I am a 21 year old woman living in the eastern suburbs of Melbourne, Australia. I'd like to mention that i was using snapchat since I didnt have any credit, but did have access to the internet. This is still currently occurring.

Last Sunday (10/07) I was sitting in my bedroom, watching south park on my computer. My boyfriend was working his regular weekend night shift, and wasn't due to clock off work until 12:30am. At around 10:30pm I thought I heard something outside my bedroom window, which I should mention faces the street. I brushed it off as a bit of rubbish blowing around and making noise. I muted my speakers, and sat there, listening.

After 5 minutes of sitting in silence, the floodlight outside my window came on. I'm a paranoid person at best, and this was rubbing me the wrong way. It just felt wrong, deep in my stomach. I panicked and sent a quick snapchat to my boyfriend that I thought someone might be casing the property. He told me to keep him updated. I saw something move past the gap in the curtain, and onto the porch. I scurried to the corner of my bed, against the wall, since anyone on the porch could see directly into my bedroom, and where I was sitting.

I distinctly remember this strange dragging sound, almost like nails on a chalk board, right outside my window. I snapchatted my boyfriend that someone was definitely outside my window, and that they were making weird noises. He said he would call the police station and have them send a car out.

By the time i finished reading his message, i realized it had gotten silent. The scraping had stopped. I sat there against the wall, practically holding my breath, listening. And that's when I heard it. -tap- -tap- -tap-. I just about shit my pants, and had every thought of locking myself in the closet, but that would require me passing the window.

I'm basically the biggest chicken shit out there, and there was no way in hell I was looking out this window. So I sat there, for what seemed like eternity, trying not to piss myself and listening to this creep tapping on my window. It wasn't a knocking sound either, but like he was tapping one finger after the other, -tap- -tap- -tap-.

My boyfriend rang, and I answered frantically "Did you call the police? Are they close?". He replied that they were sending a car out to check on me, and wouldn't be far off (we live about 3-5 minutes from the nearest police station).

It never occurred to me until later that since I could hear every little noise outside, there was definitely a good chance that he could hear every little noise I was making inside. Needless to say, he was gone when the police arrived, although he did leave me a few little presents. The shovel from our garden was leaning against my window, He'd been dragging it along the concrete just outside.

When i told the officers about the tapping, they shone their torches at the window. Right in the center of my window was a hand print. This guy had been standing there, one hand against the window, the other hand tapping? I felt like my skin was crawling. The police searched the front and back yards, and found nothing. They took my details, told me it was probably just some teenagers out for a laugh, and told me to call again if anything else happened.

Tonight (17/07) at around the same time (roughly 10:30pm), I thought I heard someone walking around outside. I sent my boyfriend a snapchat off me pulling faces, with the caption "I think someone's playing mind games with me".

I'd had a pretty uneasy feeling from walking home from the shopping center in the dark, and had been looking over my shoulder pretty much the whole way home. The thought of the tapping man coming back had me paranoid, to the point i'd started to shake. I heard scuffing noises outside the window, like when someone drags their shoes against the floor when they're bored.

The floodlight was on, and stayed on for the better part of an hour. Finally, the light was off. I felt somewhat relieved and went to the window to close the curtains. A bright beam of light blinded me through the window. It was a phone's camera flash. Whether or not he had meant to turn the flash on, I don't know. but I finally saw the man who's been giving me restless nights all week.

He was skinny, in a black hoodie, short dark blonde hair and had a gaunt, almost hollow face. He looked like a tweaker. As soon as he realized I'd seen him, he bolted. Over the knee-high fence, and across the road onto the walking path that leads to the highway.

When my boyfriend finally came home, I was hysterical, saying "I saw him. he took my picture! he took my PICTURE!". He and the guard he'd been working with that night decided to patrol around the area to try to find him (and admittedly, they probably would have beaten the living daylight out of him if they'd caught him). I waited, sitting in my room with the lights off.

They came back after around an hour of searching. My boyfriend told me he'd told the PSO officers at the train station to look out for a man matching the description i'd given them, but apparently they couldn't do anything but report that they'd seen him.

After a further 2 hours of shaking and crying, he drove me to the police station and we made a report. Thankfully, the police took it rather seriously. The officer told me they'd be submitting a defamation report which would be correlated with any similar events. It seemed a little strange though, that when i was trying to describe the man to the officer, he guessed the basic haircut i'd been trying to describe. I know this might not seem like a big deal, but at the time it felt like he already knew the man's description.

They told me if i hear or see anything again, to call 000 straight away, not to bother with the station number, since they believe he had malicious intent. Creepy tapping guy, lets not meet again!
