*BACK TO THE PRESENT*

The insane and depressed Tapp was still sitting in his messy apartment, suffering from memories of that fateful day him and his partner nearly caught Jigsaw, but his partner ended up suffering a gruesome death. He was now weak and desperate to catch the Jigsaw killer.

"I had you... on your knees," Tapp muttered to himself. "You were running, you were running scared because we had you. I'm going to close this case. Ram close it." He picked up a small framed photograph of Sing, which he kept on his table.

"Right, Sing?" he said to the photograph. "Right? We're gonna close it, Sing."

Back in the bathroom, Lawrence and Adam were still sitting there. Adam was still examining the photograph of the captive Alison and Diana.

"Excuse me?" Lawrence said, irritated.

"Just because I'm trapped in this room with you doesn't mean I have to report to you every ten seconds!" Adam said, also irritated.

Lawrence sighed. "I really don't see the point of us not helping one another."

"Well, what do you want me to do?" Adam said. "I'm on a leash."

"That's exactly why we need to talk!" Lawrence said. "We need to think!"

"I am thinking!" Adam said.

"Well then don't keep me in the dark about what you're thinking!" Lawrence snapped.

Something about that statement triggered something in Adam's mind. He suddenly had an idea.

"Turn off the lights!" Adam said quickly.

"What?" Lawrence said.

"Turn them off now, please!" Adam said.

"Why?" Lawrence said.

"Just turn them off for a second!" Adam said impatiently.

Lawrence stared at him oddly for a few seconds, then flipped the light switch. Adam looked around and saw on the wall behind Lawrence was a glow in the dark X painted on the tiles.

"Jesus, behind you!" Adam called out.

Lawrence turned around and saw it, surprised. "How come we didn't see that before?"

"The lights hadn't charged it." Adam replied. "It must be glow in the dark paint or something."

Lawrence flipped the lights back on. Both of them winced slightly at the change in brightness. Lawrence picked up his hacksaw, then hit the X point on the wall. The tiles broke off easily, and behind the wall, Lawrence saw a small brown box with a hinged lid. Both men grinned with delight as Lawrence placed it on the ground in front of him.

"Open it!" Adam said excitedly.

Lawrence showed Adam a small lock on it. "It's locked. Where's that key, the one from my envelope, where is it?"

Adam bent down behind him and picked up the key. He tossed it to Lawrence, who put it through the lock and twisted it. The lid opened with ease. Reaching inside the box, he pulled out a cell phone. He smiled with relief.

Adam also had a big smile. "Cell phone. Most beautiful invention on the planet!"

Lawrence reached into the box again and pulled out a cigarette. Adam let out a joyful laugh.

"Make that second most beautiful invention! Give me that!"

"Are you joking?" Lawrence said. "You're going to put something we found in this room in your mouth?"

"Yes, I'm willing to risk it!" Adam said. "Give me that sweet cancer!" Lawrence found another cigarette in the box, followed by a lighter and a small folded up note. He unfolded the note, it read:

'The cigarettes are harmless, I promise. Smoking is only poisonous when it ends in bloodshed. Think about this - you don't need a gun to kill Adam.' Lawrence looked up at Adam.

"May I please have a cigarette?" Adam said, growing impatient.

Still ignoring Adam's request, Lawrence picked up the cell phone and flipped it up. "I'm trying the police." He dialled the cell phone, but a weird beeping noise came out of the phone, indicating that the call can not be made. "Shit." He said. "This was meant to receive calls, not make them." He paused for a moment, deep in thought. "Wait a minute... this has happened before."

"Last night, after I finished at the hospital, I was walking back to my car. I thought I was alone, but I'm sure someone else was there." Lawrence recalled that a flash had gone off in his face as he was approaching his car in the parking lot.

*THE PREVIOUS NIGHT*

Lawrence's car pulled up to an abandoned security gate station. He got out of the car, shutting the door and going over to a phone on the wall to dial security to let him out. The phone gave him a busy signal. Unbeknownst to him, the passenger seat of his car slowly started to open. Lawrence hung up the phone on the wall, agitated, and pulled his cell phone out of his back pocket. He opened it and dialled. A strange figure started emerging from his car. Lawrence held the cell phone up to his ear, but a beeping noise came out, indicating that he could not make outgoing calls. He held up the phone, trying to get a better signal. The figure was moving closer and closer behind him. It was wearing the same strange pig mask that Tapp and Sing had found in Jigsaw's lair. The figure slowly stood up and suddenly rushed up to Lawrence and grabbed him.

*BACK TO THE PRESENT*

"That... thing," Lawrence was saying. "It was waiting for me." He took a deep breath, then looked over at Adam, thinking something was a bit off. "How did you know to turn out the lights?"

"Who cares?" Adam responded. "It worked."

"Yeah, but how did you know?"

Adam paused. "Instinct." His tone was far from believable.

Lawrence didn't believe it. "Instinct?"

"Yeah."

"You know what?" Lawrence looked down at the floor, then back up at Adam. "You're at terrible liar."

"You say that like you know me." Adam said quietly.

"What else aren't you telling me?" Lawrence said calmly, but there was clearly anger underneath the surface.

Adam turned cocky and sarcastic. "Well, let's see. On my sixth birthday, my best friend at the time, Scott Tibbs, stabbed me with a rusty nail, I didn't tell you that. I didn't tell you that my last girlfriend who was a feminist vegan punk broke up with me because she thought I was too angry. I haven't told you that one of my toenails is slightly-"

"Just stop it, alright?" Lawrence snapped. "How did you know to turn off these lights?"

"Whatever," Adam said, turning away.

"I'm dealing with a juvenile," Lawrence said frustratedly, standing up.

Adam had had it at this point, he looked right at Lawrence. "Fine, you wanna know?"

"Yes!" Lawrence said, exasperated.

Adam reached into the bathtub, and pulled out the picture of Alison and Diana, tossing it to Lawrence.

"There you go." he said aggressively.

Lawrence picked it up and sat there looking upon it with shock.

"Oh god," he said softly, and shakily. "W-where did you get this?"

"It was in your wallet," Adam said. "Behind the photo of your daughter."

"W- why didn't you show me this before?"

"I couldn't," Adam muttered. "I'm sorry." He leaned forward and put his head in his hands.

Lawrence sniffled, still shaking, then looked up at the surveillance camera behind the glass and screamed.

"What are you doing to them, you bastard?!!" he went back to huddling over the photograph, sniffling and crying. Then he sat up, trying to pull himself together. "Okay... okay... I've got to think now." He looked back down at the note that he found in the box with the cigarettes.

Lawrence looked at the dead body in the middle of the room. He had an idea. He took one of the cigarettes, then glanced over at Adam. He dipped one of the cigarettes in the corpse's blood on the floor. Then he stood up and flipped off the light switch.

"What are you doing?" Adam asked.

Zep was still watching them from the monitor in Lawrence and Alison's bedroom, with Alison and Diana gagged and bound to the bed. He was startled by the light turning off on the screen.

"What the hell are you doing?" Adam called out.

Lawrence started whispering so the camera couldn't pick up his voice. "Adam, listen to me. I want you to play along with me on this."

Zep leaned in to the screen, trying to hear what Lawrence was saying, but couldn't. He tried to adjust the sound, but to no avail.

Lawrence had just finished what he was saying to Adam, then turned the lights back on.

"You got that?" he whispered. Adam nodded, then Lawrence glanced to the surveillance camera, then back to Adam.

"So you, uh, still want that cigarette?" Lawrence said, trying to be nonchalant.

"Um...yeah, sure." Adam said.

Lawrence made a huge show out of reaching into the box with the dipped cigarette in, but instead took the non-dipped one. He threw it to Adam, who bent down to pick it up when it landed in front of him. He put the cigarette between his lips, as Lawrence threw him the lighter as well. Adam smoked the cigarette, a brief smile of relief washing over his face. The he started jerking and gurgling, and dropped the cigarette. He fell backwards onto the floor, twitching and choking, then closed his eyes and stopped. The most fake looking 'death' Lawrence had ever seen, but he thought it might still work.

Lawrence looked up at the surveillance camera, then spoke with angry triumph.

"There, I've done it! I've killed him with the poison, just like you wanted," he said to the surveillance camera. "Now where's my family? Where are they?"

Suddenly, a loud, electrical buzzing sound came from Adam's chain, and he jerked upwards violently. he started spasming and screaming in agony. Finally, the sound stopped, and Adam sat up, gasping.

"What are you doing?" Lawrence said in a hushed tone. "That was our way out!"

"I just got electrocuted!" said Adam, his eyes wide and pulling at his chain. "Get this thing off me, get it off!"

"Stop acting!" Lawrence said, pissed off.

"You think I would make that up just to mess up your stupid fucking charade?" Adam yelled, stopping pulling at his chain.

Lawrence grew frustrated once more. "Alright, that's it!" he leant down and picked up his hacksaw. He once again started trying to tear threw his chain with the saw, working really fast and grunting. After frantically sawing for ages, he finally gave up and threw the saw away. "Ah, damn it!"

Suddenly, a look of realization swept over Adam's face. The electrocution had jogged his memory.

"I remember everything now!" he said. Lawrence glanced over to him. "I remember how I got here!"

*THE PREVIOUS NIGHT*

Adam was walking up the stairs in his apartment building, listening to music on his headphones with a cigarette in his mouth. He got to the top of the stairs and walked down a red lit hallway into his apartment. He went inside, closing the door behind him, then he moved into the kitchen area, throwing his keys onto the table and opening the fridge. His apartment in its entirety was very rundown, dingy and old. it really was a 'shithole apartment' as he described it. There was graffiti all over the walls and the door, the wallpaper was peeling and the refrigerator was dirty. Adam sighed and closed the fridge door. He headed over to the darkroom, closing the door behind him. He took his headphones off and put them to the side, along with his camera and his CD player. He went over to a tray where a photo was developing and picked it up, putting it on a hanging line with a close pin with loads of other photos. It was a picture of a man in sunglasses. The man was Lawrence. In fact, all the photos on the hanging line were of Lawrence, all of him doing day to day things.

Later on, he was asleep in the darkroom, his head face down on the table.  He woke up abruptly, wondering why all the lights were out. He didn't remember turning them off. He sighed and then yawned, reaching for the light switch. But it didn't work. He stood up and picked up a flashlight from the table. That didn't work either.

"Great," he muttered to himself.

Suddenly, he heard a loud crashing noise from the other room. He picked up his camera, slinging the strap around his neck and holding it out in front of him. He moved out of the darkroom and into the rest of his apartment.

"Is someone there?" he called out. He took pictures as he went along, using the flash from the camera as his only source of light. "I can hear you." He could not see anything. He continued to move through his apartment.

Suddenly, from behind him, he heard a loud evil doll laugh. He span around.

"What the...?" he said, his voice alarmed. He snapped another picture with his camera, and saw a Jigsaw puppet sitting in his arm chair, continuing with an evil laugh. "Christ!" he yelled, startled by the sight of the puppet. he reached down and picked up a baseball bat from the floor. He heard a crashing sound again ,this time coming from the closet. He held the baseball bat and camera out in front of him.

"Who is that?" he yelled out, trying to be a tough guy. "Who's in there?! I'll kill you, you motherfucker!"

He slowly pressed down on the camera switch, taking one last photo. The moment the flash came on, a figure in a pig mask jumped out from the closet and quickly grabbed Adam.
