"Keep your hands where I can see them," the man behind Ray pushes her forward as we're walking and a rush of anger flashes through me. When I look at Ray's face, I'm surprised she looks the calmest she has since I've seen her. Not in denial or shock, but calm and collected.

"If not then you'll shoot, I know the drill," she responds.

"Oh look at this Jeremy, she thinks she's being cute," the boy laughs.

"They're always confident at first," the other one responds.

They threw us in the closest abandoned storage unit they found and locked us in after taking the handcuffs off. I rush to help Ray up, my heart almost coming out of my chest for not being able to prevent this from happening.

"You okay?" I ask.

"Yes, we need to get out of here," she quickly gets back up without wasting a second.

"I left my backpack back in the woods which is where I have everything so we have to go back eventually," she starts walking around looking for an exit while I stand there shocked.

"Are you going to help?" She snaps me out of my mind.

"Yes, sure," I quickly go and move boxes, hoping windows will be behind them.

After us looking everywhere, she gasps loudly and starts screaming. Thinking something happened to her, I drop the box I was holding in horror and run to her to see her celebrating finding a window high up.

"You scared me," I drop to the floor, catching my breath.

"Sorry, but there's a window!" She says with a wide smile on her face which makes me smile.

"Good job kid," I get back up.

"We can easily make a fort with this, grab anything sturdy and put it in a pile," she orders, already doing so herself.

"Did you find any weapons here?" She asks after the pile is made which surprises me.

"No," I say unsure. She nods silently, lost in her thoughts.

"You climb up first, in case it doesn't work then at least you can get my backpack and get me out," she suggests but I'm quick to turn it down.

"You're getting out of here first, then you're going to run and I'll find you," I finalize before she could even argue.

"We're both getting out of here," she reassures me but it seemed more like herself.

"Bad things don't always have to happen, right?" I ask in hopes to lift up her mood but she just nods quietly making me wonder what really happened when she was kidnapped. She never wanted to speak about it and ever since, it made her more serious, not the carefree girl I grew to know and like.

After quite a lot of struggling, we're both outside the storage unit and she sighs, bending down a little bit, sniffling when she gets back up and rubbing her arms with her hands.

"It's getting dark," she sighs up in the sky.

"Let's go before they come," I drag her with me quickly but quietly.

As we're walking, I hear other voices and I really wanted to groan in frustration but I just hid Ray behind some bushes.

As I'm watching Ray, getting worried at how quiet she has been. Tears suddenly flash her eyes and before I ask what was wrong, she jumps up and starts running towards the voices almost tripping. Not even giving myself a second to think about it, I start chasing after her.

But I stop dead in my tracks when I see Ace standing there with some of the guys. When they hear her footsteps approaching they point their guns on her not knowing what she is. However she doesn't falter, and once she's in sight, they quickly drop their guns in shock.

Before Ace registers what's happening, she throws herself on him, hugging his neck tightly, her little body shaking.

I just stand there, watching the girl I love hugging her perfect match and finally realize there's no place for me in her heart. This realization was overdue, but it somehow just sunk in. The reason she kept quiet and calm is because she doesn't trust me a fraction of how much she trusts him.

I'm always going to be just Blake for her, and maybe that's for the best. I don't know her struggles like he does, it's time for me to move on, isn't it?

I make my way to them and the mallows are on guard again but they see my face and rush to me, leaving the boss to have his privacy and start digging questions out of me. I make eye contact with Ace that looks deadly and I know what he's thinking.

How could I ever allow myself to let Ray get so terrified? How did I not see it coming?
