'I have made every single mistake
That you could ever possibly make
I took and I took and I took what you gave
But you never noticed that I was in pain'

"When I was little, the only good thing i remember was being taken in with this old couple, they spoiled me so much," I tell Ace with a smile on my face as we're sitting eating dinner.

"Hmm, what happened to them?" He smiles back at me.

"Well, the grandma had a heart attack and the poor old man couldn't handle that with raising a kid all alone so he put me back," my smile slightly drops.

"It's a win-lose situation then," I look weirdly at him. "Well, he lost the best thing that could've ever happened to him but i got you," he explains causing me to hide my blush behind my hair humming in response.

"No word yet on where he's hiding," Blake comes and informs me.

I don't look up from Ray's empty hospital bed as i just nod. He sighs and takes a seat next to me before speaking.

"Listen, they took her into surgery when her stats weren't even dropping, that means they can try and fix what they couldn't the last time," he tries to be optimistic but that just reminds me of how much surgery Ray had to go through the week we've been here.

"Yet she still hasn't woken up," I mumble to myself.

"Ace, you haven't eaten or showered yet, she wouldn't want to see you like this," before he could continue his repeating lecture, I just glare at him.

"If she could just open her eyes and see me, do you really think my first thought would be how i look like?" I snap which seems to anger Blake as well which isn't usual.

"No, but it will be hers. For pity's sake Ace, you look disgusting, you've lost weight and you're not doing anything that would actually help her. If you don't get your a-"

"Mister King?" he gets cut off by a nurse and i recognize her as the surgical nurse assigned to Ray.

"The surgery is going to take longer that expected but so far things are going really well," she says with a big smile on her face which i take as a good sign. I nod and turn my attention back to Blake that seems to be cooling himself down.

"Fine, but i don't even remember whose car we came here with so get me my bike," I stand up heading for the door when i see i'm the only one walking. I look back to a very shocked Blake with a hint of happiness.

"I didn't think that would work," he jumps and puts me in a headlock pressing his knuckles into my scalp and rubbing them on my head. "But really man, you stink."

"Boss, welcome back," the men in the gang congratulated me as i just nodded as acknowledgement.

"Set a meeting with the heads of all departments right away," I order Blake, "we're gonna find this bastard."

"As many of you know, this gang and Antonio's gang aren't exactly on the best terms," I say calmly, wiping all emotion off my face. All the others had a look of anger, wanting revenge for the people we've lost and their boss lady.

"Now, i can't say i'm disappointed that we haven't found him yet, he's a smart guy, however, this stops today. I'm back and we're going to find out where he is, he might be a smart guy, but we're brilliant. Get to work, give me all your data you've gotten so far, look for the unusual, I will be coming around to everyone's office today," I dismiss the short meeting.

"See, isn't good to come back to your origins to take a breath?" Blake punches my shoulder while i just roll my eyes.

"I'm going to call the hospital for a minute," his face goes back to a troubled one once the hospital is mentioned. I can't tell if it's extreme worry for my health or Ray's but i dismiss it.

As I was about to call them, my phone starts to ring.

"Mister King?" I recognize the nurse. "I think you want to be here, your wife is waking up," my brain didn't understand what that meant, but i was already halfway through the gang's garage of bikes rushing to get there.

Before i could even realize it, i was running through the hallways of the hospital, took the stairs like a little kid on Christmas rushing to see what he's wished for for so long.

"She's right in there," the nurse tries to tell me but i couldn't care less about her once i've reached Ray's room.

I hear faint, soft coughs and a deep, tired sigh immediately recognizing her faint remarks.

When i enter the room and we make eye contact, i could physically see the relief in her eyes as her stiff shoulders loosened up and her eyes started watering.

"You're alive," she whispers before putting her face into her hands to cry. However, i quickly take her side and hug her tight, afraid she's going to slip and fall limb if i don't.

"I'm right here, we're both alive and well," i finally could relax my shoulders after days of not sleeping.

We stayed in each other's arms, mourning the day we went through, Ray crying and me holding her tight making sure she's not left alone any moment of this before she fell asleep and the nurses did her check ups then.

"I just heard," Blake comes in panting a few minutes after Ray has fallen asleep.

"Yeah," I keep myself from showing too much emotion, it makes me look vulnerable when i couldn't even eat without Ray being there. It scares me how much she's become involved in my life, and what would happen if something like this would occur again.

"Is she okay? Can I see her?" He asks eagerly, i can see a rush of eagerness through his eyes.

"She's asleep, the nurses are with her so not right now," I say in a relieved tone and watch his demeanor go down.

"At least she's up and running," he chuckles halfheartedly

'"I'm going back to her room, maybe the nurses finished," I inform and go to her room, wanting to see her now peaceful face.

I have had the crappiest week of this year yet and it just doesn't seem to be getting better, however, I took a look at the views and votes this story is getting and it blew my mind. I upload once a week and lately the chapters haven't been the best but oh my goodness thank y'all! It made my mood better for a solid 10 minutes!
