• storm [stôrm] - a violent disturbance of the atmosphere with strong winds and usually rain, thunder, lightning, or snow •

Jimin was awoken with a bright flash of lightning and the booming echo of thunder. He sits up quickly, his heart rate skyrocketing because of the sudden noises. He involuntarily grasps onto the fabric of Jeongguk's sweatshirt, squeezing tightly and moving closer to the taller boy.

Jeongguk groggily rubs his eyes and takes notice of Jimin's frightened expression. His eyebrows crinkle up in concern as he raspily lets out, "Jiminie, what's wro—," He's cut off by a particularly loud strike of thunder which makes Jimin jump as he presses his face into Jeongguk's chest, visibly shaking. Jeongguk runs his hand through Jimin's thick hair comfortingly, whispering out reassurements.

"I don't wanna go to work..." Jimin huffs out, his little whimpers muffled by Jeongguk's chest.

"Then don't. Stay here with me, kitten." Jimin looks up at Jeongguk, his chin still resting against his broad chest, he forms his lips into a little pout as his cheeks redden slightly. Jeongguk playfully pinches his sides, making the smaller boy cry out in laughter.

"Ah! Stop it!!" Jimin breathily laughs out as he pushes Jeongguk's tickling arms away. His laughs are left to echo in the air as a white light flashes against their skin, lighting up the room, followed by an intense crack of thunder which makes it feel as though the walls were shaking around them.

Jimin jumps back into the safety of Jeongguk's arms, hugging him tightly. He feels as Jeongguk's strong arms wrap themselves around him, protecting him.

Jimin lets out a shaky breath and sadly whines, "But I have to go." A frown covers his face as he nervously looks out the window at the pouring rain. "I have lives to save." Jimin pushes up from his cuddly position and sits on the edge of the bed.

Jeongguk's arms sneak around Jimin's waist as he attempts to get up. Jimin feels as Jeongguk presses his lips to the back of his neck. Goosebumps appear all down his neck and across his arms as he feels the warm, slow breaths of Jeongguk against his bare skin.

Jeongguk leans up and huskily whispers into his ear, "But I want you to stay here and cuddle." His lips slightly graze the bottom of Jimin's earlobe and he feels him shudder slightly. A smile covers Jeongguk's face as he feels the heat of Jimin's blush reach his neck and the tips of his ears, turning them red.

"I have to go..." Jimin turns his head to look at Jeongguk and ends up being centimeters away from his face, Jeongguk's breath lightly hitting Jimin's heated face.

Jeongguk's eyes glance back and forth between Jimin's eyes and his lips, his tongue slowly going across his bottom lip as Jimin's focus never leaves. Jeongguk leans in closer and closer and just as his lips begin to touch Jimin's he quickly pulls away. Jimin releases a breath he didn't know he was holding as another crack of thunder shakes the sky.

"Fine. Then I'll drive you." Jeongguk crawls out from under the fluffy comforter and helps Jimin up from the edge of his bed. "Come on, Jiminie! Get dressed or you'll be late!!" Jeongguk overdramatically yells out, snapping Jimin out of his trance. Jimin shakes his head and begins running to the bathroom, grabbing clothes along the way.

"I'll be ready in 10!" Jeongguk winks and leans against the bedroom doorway as he waits for Jimin, a small smile decorating his face.

Jimin leaves the bathroom, an oversized sweater thrown on with some jeans, he would have to change when he got to work anyways. Jeongguk grabs his hand and they walk down the stairs to the apartment building's doors. Noticing the heavy rain, they sprint towards the car, laughing as Jeongguk almost slips and falls.

They end up in the car, the heat blasting through the vents, their hair dripping wet with tiny rain droplets. The soft tune of a song plays through the radio as the car begins to move, the windshield wipers moving at a steady rate.

Jimin watches as the rain falls down the window, he looks as each individual rain drop slides down the glass, leaving a streak of water behind. When another vein of lightning lights the sky, Jeongguk gently places his hand on Jimin's thigh to comfort him. Jimin gladly entwines his hand with Jeongguk's, squeezing tightly.

Soon enough, they arrive at the hospital. Jeongguk lifts Jimin's hand and places a soft kiss to the back of it, lingering slightly.

"I'll pick you up later, okay?" Jimin nods his head and pecks Jeongguk on the cheek before quickly running to the building before too much rain could soak his clothes.

Jimin entered through the hospital doors, the antiseptic smell filling his nostrils. He is almost immediately met with the concerned voice of Taehyung next to him.

"Jimin, are you okay? I know you don't like storms..." Taehyung's eyebrows are crinkled in concern as he follows closely next to Jimin.

"Yeah, I'm fine," Jimin lies, trying to escape before questions about Jeongguk come up. Taehyung loops around in front of him and holds him still, his eyes glancing over Jimin's face.

"Are you sure?" Jimin nods his head but is cut short by a massive boom of thunder which causes a frightened squeak to exit his mouth before he can stop it. "I'll be keeping an eye on you, Chim," Taehyung states before patting Jimin's shoulder comfortingly and walking away.

Jimin changes into his scrubs and waits for the inevitable; a mass of incoming patients due to the storm. It happens everytime there's a storm like this, people always become reckless.

As if right on cue, the blaring sirens of an ambulance fill the air and 4 stretchers are carted into the hospital, various information being communicated over loud screams and gasping breaths. Jimin runs over and takes a look at the closest patient.

As he's rolling the stretcher out of the crowded hall, another round of thunder rolls through as the patient violently clamps onto his wrist and begins to convulse. Still shaken by the thunder and his now crashing patient, Jimin doesn't even notice the hospital lights flicker off and back on for a brief second.

After holding down the convulsing man until he calmed down, Jimin was slightly worn out. He cautiously checks up on the patients body, listening to vital organs to see if he can find the problem. He lifts up the mans shirt to inspect his chest to check for damage and gasps at what he sees.

Purple bruises, circling and spiking into a pattern almost like lightning itself. This man had been struck by lightning in the accident. He was having a seizure and will most likely go into—

"Respiratory arrest," Jimin breathes out as he leans close to the man's mouth, listening for a breath. Suddenly a wheezing sound emitted from his mouth and he began to turn slightly blue. "Can we get a crash cart over here! Quickly!"

Jimin fumbled around, looking for a tube and a scalpel. Once the materials he needed were in his hands he turned to his patient who was quickly losing time. Just as he was about to line up the scalpel to make an incision to the correct area of his windpipe, the lights flickered before completely turning off, a loud echo of thunder coursing through the building.

Jimin was now working in almost complete darkness, with only the dim light of a single emergency light panel shining down the hall.

The hustle and bustle of the hospital didn't slow, in fact, things seemed to be moving faster than ever. People were running to find flashlights, carts were rolling along the linoleum floors at fast pace. The only thing that stopped was the collective beeping of the machines, now all that could be heard was shoes squeaking against the shiny floor and the heavy breaths of both patients and doctors alike.

Jimin was brought out of his haze from the laborious heaving coming from the man in front of him. Acting quickly, Jimin drags his hand along the line of the man's windpipe, finding the exact spot for the incision.

Jimin takes a deep breath and whispers to himself, "Okay, it's okay. You can do this, Jimin."

Without any more waiting he cuts through the weak layer of skin and plunges the tube in, a gasping breath is taken from the man as his breathing returns to normal.

Jimin wipes the sweat from his forehead with the back of his hand as the lights flicker back on, the synchronized beeps of the machines filling the air once again.

Jimin pushes the now stabilized man down into a hospital bed, hooking him up to various machines. He takes a look around the emergency center, watching as everyone shuffles around urgently.

The sounds were once again cut short as a burst of thunder and lightning shakes the floors and made the lights lose power again.

Jimin feels a rough grip take hold of both of his biceps, a squeezing force that only kept getting harsher.

"H-huh? Who—" Jimin is cut off by a piercing scream coming from the woman whose grip is placed on his arms. Through the faint light he sees a face covered in blood and matted down hair.

Jimin was completely frozen as the woman began to thrash around, lying still as a statue on the once sparkling white floors as the lights flickered back into existence.

He looked to the lifeless woman before examining himself, taking note of the bloody handprints stained into his shirt. A shudder ran through his body as he covered his mouth and walked speedily away from the situation.

"I'm okay...I-I'm okay..." Jimin was breathing heavily as he stumbled to the nearest supply closet, looking to get away from all of the people and chaos.

He crumpled to the floor, hugging his knees to his chest. He sat for a moment, just staring, before shakily reaching into his pocket and grabbing his phone.

Barely even taking a look at the name, he hit call, hoping to God that Jeongguk would answer. Jimin was beyond happy when he heard the comforting voice of Jeongguk on the other end of the phone, asking if he was alright.

"Jeongguk, I'm scared."

"I'm on my way."

Jimin listens to Jeongguk's running footsteps, the slam of a car door, and the starting of an engine as he focuses on slowing down his heart rate.

Jeongguk hangs up the phone as he drives and Jimin watches as the shadows of people pass by the doorway, completely unaware of his existence in the room. Before he knows it his phone is ringing and Jeongguk's panting voice is asking for where he is. Soon, the door swings open, revealing the soaking wet Jeongguk, his hand running through his hair and his shoes leaving wet footprints down the hall.

Jeongguk embraces Jimin, covering him in freezing rain water and yet Jimin had never felt more warm in that moment. Jeongguk had come to his rescue, he was his knight in shining armor.

Jeongguk releases himself from the hug and worriedly scans over Jimin.

"Are you okay? What happened, baby?" Jimin's heart thumps loudly at the affectionate nickname as Jeongguk crouches down and caresses Jimin's face gently, careful not to startle him.

Jimin nods slowly. He quietly whispers out, "I'm okay." He then explains the events of the previous few hours and the reasons for his overwhelmed state.

Jeongguk nods in understanding and places a kiss to his thumb before pressing it lightly on Jimin's lips.

"All better?" Jeongguk asks delicately. Jimin nods and takes Jeongguk's hand in order to get up off the floor.

Their hands stay entwined all the way to the cafeteria where Jeongguk fills up a bowl of hot soup for Jimin to calm his nerves. Their hands stay together while draping across the table, Jimin's spoon in one hand while the other is still enveloped in Jeongguk's hand.

Taehyung joins the table, the screeching chair sliding across the floor as he pulls it out. His eyes land on Jimin and Jeongguk's laced together hands. A flash of something crosses his features before being replaced with a casual smile.

"Are you okay, Jimin?"

Jimin nods with his spoon in his mouth. He winces slightly at the heat but then drinks it down, letting it warm his body.

"Thanks for worrying, Tae." Jimin gives a small smile which is then mimicked onto Taehyung's face.

"Of course. I always do."

The table sits in content silence for only a moment before the ringing of pagers rings throughout the room. The doctors all take a look, ready to take on the incoming patients. Jimin's slides out from his chair, hand still connected with Jeongguk's.

"I...have to go now." Jimin frowns as Taehyung makes his way towards the emergency wing.

Jeongguk squeezes Jimin's hand in his own, not letting him leave just yet.

"Before you go. I just wanted to let you know that I'm taking you on a date tomorrow!" Jeongguk's toothy smile overtakes his face as he watches Jimin's eyes light up in excitement.

"Where are we going?"

"It's a surprise!" Jimin scrunches up his nose before giggling while a pink tint gathers on his cheeks.

Jimin then leaves the table after giving a quick kiss on the cheek to Jeongguk.

Jeongguk was left alone at the table, his hand still warm from being entwined with Jimin's. A slight blush covered his face as his smile grew wider thinking about his plans for the next day.
