There is more in this town than even I could have guessed. I fear perhaps the Follower is just one facet of it, and perhaps only a minor facet. I know vampires massacred Kraus farm last night. The Administration may not believe it, but I'm convinced. Everything else fits too well. But I am scared...more scared than I've been in quite some time. Someone—or something—wants pain and suffering. As much as they or it can get. I don't know yet if a vampire is behind the Follower, or something else is behind both. But it is no coincidence that both are here now. I have my own guesses, of course, but I'm going to need more than that. So much more.

I worry often about the kids at that school...sometimes I do wonder if Briargate is the safest place for them. I can't be sure...not after those two students disappeared, the one in Ollie's class. Not after two of my own classmates were murdered in Briargate's walls. And the other girl, Shannon...she's in Ollie's class too. I've heard all about her from everyone: Sheffield, Vickers, Lea. She's the only one in this whole thing to have made it out alive...I wonder...

One way or another, this will have to come to an end. The town, the school...perhaps none of it is safe. There's work to be done; Eugenia and I leave tomorrow. I pray the kids will be all right; they know how to stay out of trouble. Hopefully we can end this soon, and then we can stay. Put this whole thing to rest. That's all anyone wants now.

It's been so long...but hopefully not much more now...

There is something I would really like to know, however: where could the vampires possibly stay during the day? There is nowhere I can think of that they wouldn't have been noticed by now. Of course, if I knew that, I suppose I'd be able to take care of them pretty quick. But I wonder...I wonder indeed.

***I like having these excerpts but I hate writing them. Whenever I write in first person I feel like the person always comes across as a pompous jerk. It just feels so stiff. Let me know what you think of it and if there's anything you think I could do to improve it. And as always, thanks to everyone who voted and commented, it's so sweet :)***

***Also, lol "the kids know how to keep out of trouble." *cut to Ollie sneaking out in the middle of the night to chase vampires*.***
