Dagger was working in his office at the hospital. Someone knocked at the door.

"Come in."

A peso coin and her son, a half peso coin, walked in. They sat down in front of his desk.

"Hello, Doctor Wondertainment."

"Call me Dagger, not that. As to you, Mrs...whats your name?"

"It's just Pesa."

"Right, um, let me pull up your records." He typed something into a computer, and in a few minutes, he turned back to them.

"Your son has cancer, correct?"

"Yes, and I haven't been able to afford any treatment for it, as my husband is currently in prison."

"Right. You came to me because you heard the rumors."

"Yes. I'm hoping you can do something."

"I can, and it won't cost much. It's rather cheap in fact. Just a hundred dollars and permission to run an experiment on you."

"What sort of experiment?"

"For the last 150 years, I have been working on creating artificial life. Technology in the public eye has only recently come close to scratching the surface behind the science of the things I have made, and used. It's that far ahead.
The experiment I want you to participate in is going to give you migraines for a few months at the most.
I have created a virtual reality headset that will temporarily allow you to perceive a fourth spatial dimension. I'm going to hook you up to a machine that will monitor your brain, heart and other activity while you're able to perceive that fourth spatial dimension."

"That's it? That's exciting."

"There could be risks, like passing out, or having a seizure."

"I don't care, as long as my son gets his cancer cured."

"I'm saddened but inspired to hear desperation that earnest. Sign here." He pulled out a clipboard with a contract and handed it to the lady. She signed it.

"Do what you need to do, doctor." She hugged her son, and he hugged her back.

"Right. Come along, son. It'll be a day of it, but its going to worth it, you'll get through this. And one more thing, both of you? Don't tell anyone about me."

They both nodded. Dagger got up and took the boy into another room. A few minutes later, he came out. She looked at Dagger.

"Is that it?"

"No, he'll be here for a few days. It'll be worth it, though."

"I suppose you want me to do the experiment?"

"Not yet if you don't want to right now. I'll call you when your son's treatment is over."

"Ok then, sir. Have a nice day." She was struggling to contain the feeling of a heavy sadness in her gut.

"You too."
