Eileen had them appear just when Launch Pad was going to call Agate. Launch Pad didn't notice them, but CC did.

"Agate! What's Duchess Eileen doing here?"

Agate turned to her. "Oh, CC! That's a long story."

"We don't have time for that. The things in the sky are all wrong. The observatory data has been showing quasars moving out of their positions."

"They look the same to me this evening," Agate replied.

"Cosmic scale changes don't often measure up to differences in the stars one can see. We have a mess to deal with. Somehow, the galaxies on the edge of the observable universe stopped red shifting just as this lightning storm appeared. Something is wrong."

Syringe walked in. "Guys, we have a catastrophe on our hands. There are freaky creatures running around town killing people. They're mostly on 5th Michael Avenue."

"What do we do?" Agate said, everyone standing there confused and scared.
