The doctor discharged Safaa from the hospital after making sure she's okay.He informed her about the need to come for check ups once in a month and then twice a month when her baby begins to develop fully.Safaa is a kind of person who dislikes taking her medicine when she's sick,so he also told her about the dangers of abandoning medications halfway and bid them adieu.

Ahmad was with Safaa each step of the way albeit what her Mama told them days ago and he made sure she regained all her strength by feeding her lavishly. He helped Safaa's Mama with their little luggage and came back to the room and walked Safaa to the parking lot.

"We are going in my car right?" He whispered making sure her Mama didn't hear him.

"Safaa you're coming with me"

Her Mama had no smile on her face when she said that so Safaa didn't even get the chance to give him an answer, she reluctantly walked behind her Mama and entered her car.

Safaa began sulking but smiled minutes later as she watched the driver taking the route to her home, the home she shares with her beloved. She inwardly thanked Allah for making Mama change her mind, she's tired of all the ruckus in her life, she just wants to be with her husband, they'll be able to come out of every storm together by the will of her Rabb.

"Saminu take the left turn" Safaa's Mama ordered him sternly.

And the left turn and the route to her husband's house are completely different.

"But Maa..." Safaa began protesting but the way her Mama glared at her made her stop.

She knows better than to defy her Mama,Her mother can be so easy going and patient but when she makes her a decision when angry she never backs out of it.

Ahmad followed them breathing sharply trying to steady the way his heart was beating. He believes Maa loves Safaa so much that she won't do something that will hurt her but it seems she's determined. When they reached the house of Safaa's parents,he parked his car and descended from it in a jiffy trying to catch up with Safaa and Mama.

Ahmad wanted to tell Maa that they should've taken Safaa back home but he didn't,he followed them in and made sure Safaa was settled comfortably before he began to talk.

"Maa I thought we'll return home with Safaa from the hospital" He said not meeting his mother inlaw's eyes.

"I'm sorry Ahmadu but this is her home,I hope you'll understand that"

"But Maa she's my wife"

"I know but I already made up my mind, now if you guys will excuse me I'd love to go and check how my maid is coping with cooking dinner" She said and left the two of them staring at each other.

Safaa felt so emotional when she looked at her husband,he looks so vulnerable and she felt like hugging him until he's back to his old self, her Yaya Ahmad, the one who smiles even amidst difficulties.

"Hey stop that" He sat beside Safaa on the sofa and wiped her tears.

She had no idea when she started crying.

"I...can't...." She hiccuped burying her face on his chest.

"Shh it's okay I get it,Mama is angry, she'll come around" He kept stroking her back in an attempt to calm her tears.

"You don't know Maa" She sniffled wrapping her hands around his neck.

"Yeah but I know she loves you,she will change her mind for you,Take care of yourself for me,I will call you every minute,I love you so much Safaa" He tried to smile,a smile that didn't reach his eyes.

"I love you too" She held a sob in an attempt to assure him that she's trying to be calm.

There's a storm brewing in her husband's heart and she held unto him, wishing it's all a nightmare.

Inna had wanted to descend tbe stairs but their heartbreaking conversation made her pause and she watched everything from afar.Hearing how broken her grandchildren are,Inna wiped an oblivious tear and became so determined to stop them from ever breaking apart.

πŸ€πŸ€πŸ€πŸ€

"Alhaji why must Inna ask to see us all of a sudden?" Hajiya Turai fumed serving her husband his lunch.

She has been complaining since her husband told her that Inna wishes to see them all at night,Hajiya Turai wished death upon the woman countlessly but the old hag rarely falls sick talk more of incurring a deathly disease like heart failure or something.Inna is the only one on earth apart from Alhaji Sunusi's father who has total control over her two children though Sunusi sometimes acts stubborn and she lets him get away with it,Abubakar never disobeys her.

"I think it's about her grandchildren"

"Mtsss" Turai hissed tapping her foot angrily on the marbled floor.

"Turai you still despise that poor girl don't you?" Alhaji Sunusi grinned evilly taking a bite of his food.

"With all of my heart" Hajiya Turai seethed.

"Well I don't think I hate the girl the way you do but I just don't like her,I don't like people of the lower class specifically"

"Alhaji you hate the girl too" Hajiya Turai chuckled.

Alhaji Sunusi ignored her and continued eating his food, thinking deeply of what the old lady wants.Inna has become too whiny and easily pokes her nose to affairs that don't concern her this days but she's his mother,he can never disrespect her.He anticipated the night hoping to hear what she has to say.

He clenches his fist thinking of the battle and storm that will occur if Inna decides to side with Abubakar's family, for she does that anytime the two of them are having family issues.

πŸ€πŸ€πŸ€πŸ€

Safaa raised up her head trying to scrutinize the living room occupied by the members of her family, she just couldn't stop her tears as the thought of getting seperated from her husband crossed her mind. How can they not see that the very air she breathes suffocates her when she's not near him. They have went through a lot, there was misunderstandings and misconceptions, their relationship faltered but the love she has for her husband remained intact.

She let her gaze fall on her Yaya Ahmad's disturbed figure sitting on the carpeted floor below the sofa their grandpa was seated. The anguish she saw on his face almost made her run to his arms and comfort him but she casted down her blurry view and continued praying inwardly for solace from her Rabb.

"We are all here because of the issue concerning Ahmadu and Safarau's marriage..." Their grandfather Abdulfatah began with his croak yet deep voice capable of sending shivers down the spine of anyone who has an encounter with him.

"Safaa I want you to tell me what's been happening for the past few years and I want the truth" He asked Safaa but when she began telling him,her voice became muffled with sobs and she couldn't continue.

Her Mama looked at her with so much piety before deciding to take her place.

"I'll explain Baa" She addressed Alhaji Abdulfatah with the name they popularly call him.

"I hope to hear what happened exactly Fadimatu"

"In sha Allah Baa" Safaa's Mama began her narration not leaving out any details.

The living room was so silent that the voice of Safaa's mother resonated through it like a microphoned voice. The only sound one can hear after her voice was that of Safaa's sniffs. Her mother proceeded to tell her grandfather everything including things that happened in Australia,Safaa glared at Abidah because her Maa can only find out so much about how her life was at Sydney only because of her,Abidah is the one who's responsible for her plight now.

"And what makes you think all that she was suspected of doing isn't right?" Alhaji Sunusi snickered when Fadimatu finished explaining.

"Yaya my daughter can never do such kind of things" Alhaji Abubakar defended his daughter.

"The daughter who you spoilt like a brat? I caught her in an uncompleted building with a man for crying out loud" He yelled making sure his words bring back memories that Safaa hates to remember.

Safaa flinched seeing how their parents were not handling the situation patiently, she wanted to beg them,to tell them that it's all a past now and she wants to concentrate on her future regardless of Hajiya Turai's torture and hatred.

"Yaya..." Alhaji Abubakar took a deep breath calming his anger.

"Safaa did not go there because of what you think,I investigated everything after you took her away"

"Baba you did?" Safaa looked at her father with watery eyes.

"I did Safaa and I'm so sorry for being strict,If I wasn't strict like that you won't have cared about that phone,it wasn't even an expensive phone dear" He smiled at her patting her head adoringly.

"Enough of the emotional scene, what do you have to say about how your daughter poisoned me" Hajiya Turai hissed shooting daggers at Safaa.

"My daughter didn't poison you, she's not responsible for it and mind you Hajiya Turai even though you're my elder brother's wife and my inlaw now,you need to respect people before it can be reciprocated to you" Alhaji Abubakar calmly reprimanded her.

"Don't you dare speak to my wife like this Abubakar" Alhaji Sunusi roared.

"Sunusi enough" Their old father stopped them.

Eyes red, noses flaring and breaths coming out in pants the fathers of Safaa and Ahmad kept quite trying to calm themselves.

"Baa I am a woman and no mother will want to see her daughter suffering in her husband's house,we are now in a new era Hajiya Turai mothers inlaw do not interfere in the affairs of their children,I know Safaa loves your son but I can't let her go back to his house if you don't surrender your weapons and let her live in peace,Let her have the tranquility she deserves just for once Hajiya Turai,Safaa if they hate you that much your father and I love you so much,You're our only offspring,Your co wife pushed you some days ago and we almost lost you,I would've lived the rest of my life to regret not stopping your father when he sent you to your uncle's house"

"I understand what you feel Fadimatu,I understand everything but we should not make a decision while angry" Alhaji Abdulfatah consoled her.

He tried to find a way to resolve the issue and he really thought they can resolve it in minutes but it seems too controversial and both parties are trying to maintain their stance that they are the ones who are right.

"Safaa did your mother inlaw and co wife subjected you to maltreatments?" He asked Safaa and she nodded in affirmative faintly.

"You ingrate,You have the audacity to say I maltreated you? We took you from the slum and made you someone worthy and now you have the guts..."

"Shut up Hajiya Turai just shut up,kora kunya da hauka kike yi ne ko mey? You better accept your fault and apologise,if you're not allowing my daughter to live in peace then go and marry your son" Alhaji Abubakar was so angry.

He's a person that rarely gets riled up but when he's really pissed, expect the worst of treatments.

"Habu.." Their father called his name sternly.

"Baba I am sorry but Yaya I regret sending my daughter to your house,Safaa please forgive me I never thought it will be responsible for a twist that will change your life entirely"

"And I regret allowing her stay in my house too,My son deserves someone who's better than her yet she tricked him and he's still not ready to open his eyes and see the truth" Alhaji Sunusi replied him pointing a finger at Ahmad accusingly.

"Innalillahi wa inna ilaihir raji'un,And IΒ  regret seeing this day,the children I nurtured with so much love and compassion are now fighting right infront of me because of their wives and children,I curse this day" Inna wailed limping out of the living room.

Safaa's mother followed her too, wiping her tears with the hem of her hijab, the old lady can't be left alone for only Allah knows what an ordeal her heart is going through.

"You want things to be done like this right?" Alhaji Abdulfatah asked them solemnly.

"No Baa,Habu wants to show me that now he's rich too and that the care I gave to his daughter is unappreciated,If he really thinks we maltreat his daughter then let him have her afterall Ahmad was living even before knowing her" Alhaji Sunusi was quick to answer their father.

He got up from the sofa and began adjusting his babban Riga furiously gesturing with his hands to his family members that they should all get up and leave.

"Safaa was having a life full of joy before knowing him too" Alhaji Abubakar talked back at his elder brother yet again.

"Then so be it,have your daughter to yourself" Alhaji Sunusi stormed out of the living room lighting the face of Hajiya Turai with a triumphant smile.

At long last, she's gotten rid of the pest in their life.

Finally.
