Alhaji Abubakar entered his household and summoned his wife and daughter, he was terrified by the words uttered by Baa and he knew things must be back to the way they were before they all faced the wrath of Allah. He looked at his daughter smiling to something her Mama told her and he wished he had never sent her to stay with his brother, everything started after he did that.

"Safaa will you ever forgive your Baba?" He asked making her abruptly turn all her attention to him.

How could her father be asking for her forgiveness? When she's the one who was supposed to ask him for that, being the reason he had a fight with his beloved brother.

"Baba why are you asking for my forgiveness?" She asked with a shaky voice.

"Do you love your husband?" He asked.

"Don't tell me you're taking her back?" Safaa's Mama asked her eyes already turning red.

"She goes back only if she wants to, but Fadimatu it will be better if she goes back"

"When her mother inlaw is ready to cut her off into pieces and feed her to the wolves? Haba I love my daughter, she's the only one I have"

"Are you not tired of all this fights, Baa just told me he doesn't consider Yaya his son? Can you imagine what our love for children has done to this family? I do love our daughter too, but if taking her back to her husband's house will restore peace in this family then I'd do that"

"And what about her feelings?" Fadimatu sniffed.

"She also loves her husband, Safaa I want you to pray a lot about this, decide on what you want, I would like to go out now" He finished taking his phone on the centre table.

He left his wife angry at the fact that his love for his brother had blinded him that he did not even care about his only daughter's feelings. Safaa did not look affected by his words, but Fadimatu knew deep inside, her daughter wanted to be with her husband, Hajiya Turai was the only problem.

Alhaji Abubakar's driver parked his car at his brother's mansion and Abubakar contemplated on going inside but when he remembered the look on their father's face, he got out of the car and headed to his brother's living room. He found his brother with the woman behind all the sinister atrocities, she did not attempt to exchange pleasantries with him so he found a place in the overly spacious living room and made himself comfortable, Hajiya Turai knew Abubakar was never afraid of her and she knew his guts hence when he stared at her squarely, his glare much more intense than her own, she excused herself and left the living room.

"To what do I owe this visit Habu, are you already having a financial problem? I thought you're now RICH" Alhaji Sunusi laughed sarcastically, making sure to emphasise his last word.

"I am okay, Alhamdulillah, I am here because I want to bring an end to this childishness Yaya, Baa is really angry and you know the implications of that, Our parents are old, I don't wish to see them not going in peace, so I'm here to apologise"

"Oh really? It's now that you realise you have offended me? After months?" Alhaji Sunusi asked pointing his finger accusingly at Safaa's father.

"Answering your questions is not necessary Yaya, all I want you to know is that I am sorry for everything, you have to go and see Baa, I'd leave now, Assalamu Alaikum" Alhaji Abubakar said, adjusted his babban riga and walked out.

Alhaji Sunusi saw his brother's retreating back and he began reminiscing their childhood, he was the best brother to him until his wife began telling him what he was too blind to see. Turai was the person who pointed out to him how bias Baa and even Inna were in showering them with love and care. He began paying attention to every little detail and he realised Abubakar has always been the favorite child and for that he slowly began growing a strong animosity towards his only brother.

"And what did he say to you?" Hajiya Turai ended his reverie.

"Something about Baa is angry, don't mind them"

"You better not mind them too, what were we talking about?" She smiled trying to make him forget about his brother's visit.

Salman and Ahmad were at their father's front door when their Uncle came out of the living room, his facial expression confirmed Salman's fears and he knew his father did not welcome the idea of peace with open arms. Ahmad greeted Safaa's father and he answered with a warm hand shake and a smile on his face, that made Ahmad feel more ashamed of himself.

"How have you been Ahmadu?" He held his hand firmly.

"Coping but Alhamdulillah Kawu" Ahmad smiled.

"You're also looking older than your age, Salman tell him the advise I told you some hours ago" Alhaji Abubakar chuckled letting go of Ahmad's hand.

"Alright Kawu, I will do that" Salman laughed too.

"Okay I'll see you boys around, I am in a hurry" He said and entered his car.

Ahmad stopped Salman from walking inside the living room and dragged him to the chairs in the patio.

"It didn't go well" Ahmad panicked running his hand through his hair.

"I know, calm down, Baba is human, He just needs to be away from Mama's influence"

"Mommy can make him understand, let's talk to her"

They had no idea that their step mother was walking to the patio, with a tray of fruit for their father, she stopped when she saw them talking in hushed voices.

"What are you guys cooking up?" She raised a brow.

"Alhamdulillah,ย  Mommy we want your help, please sit" Salman begged.

"And your father's fruits?" She asked.

"It can wait, our issue is more urgent, Your husband is in trouble" Salman answered.

"Alright boys, what's bothering you?" She asked getting a seat beside them.

Salman explained everything to her and she promised to try convincing their father.

"You're not trying Mommy, You should just convince him" Ahmad groaned.

"Silly boy, so you love Safaa this much and let your mother treat her like that?"

"Help me ask him Mommy, this is the question that's been in my mind since" Salman sighed exasperatedly.

"I don't know, can you all just please making me feel like a monster? I know I was not supposed to let Mama transcend limits but I just..."

"I understand Ahmad" Mommy cut him off patting his shoulder soothingly.

She carried the tray and told them to expect her feedback by tomorrow if their Mama gave her a chance to speak with their father, they understood what Mommy meant because they were all aware of their mother's domineering habit. Luckily for them, Hajiya Turai came out of the living room some minutes after Mommy had walked in.

Ahmad smiled when she walked to them but Salman acted like he had not seen her, what Safaa revealed to him moments ago cannot even let him set his eyes on his mother.

"And what is wrong with this one?" She asked Ahmad, seeing the way Salman's face hardened when he saw her.

"Or are you also blaming me for the misunderstanding?" She hissed.

"Who else will I blame Mama? It's all you, You caused everything" Salman fired, unable to take it anymore.

"Dude calm down, she's our mother" Ahmad scolded his elder brother.

"You're still backing her up? After everything, You're nothing but a fool Ahmad, knowing what Mama did, I am now wishing Mommy is my mother" Salman yelled earning himself a slap from his mother.

"You should hit me Mama, do whatever but it won't change the fact that you have allowed the world to change you to a monster" Salman continued ignoring the stinking pain of her palm on his face.

Mommy was trying to talk to their father but when they heard the commotion outside the living room, they all rushed out.

"Salman what's going on?" Alhaji Sunusi's deep voice stopped Salman's outburst.

"She slapped me because I was telling Ahmad the truth, Baba why didn't you marry Mommy first, I wish she was my mother, Mama what kind of a heart to do you have?" Salman snapped again and when Hajiya Turai raised her hand to slap him again, Ahmad stopped her.

"Let her hit me Ahmad, How could you Mama? She ruined your marriage life even before you started it, she paid Moudu to snap Safaa's nude pictures before your marriage and she made him deliver the pictures at your house, God so kind, Safaa came across the pictures first, that first incident is the reason why you never trusted your wife Mama's boy" Salman revealed what had been bothering him and they all stared at him, with their mouth agape.

Alhaji Sunusi managed to find his voice after a while and he asked.

"Where did you get that Salman?"

"Well ask your wife, she knows what am talking about" Salman said walking away from the patio.

All eyes turned to Hajiya Turai, seeking for an answer and when she was unable to voice out a word, Ahmad let go of her hand and began walking away too.

"Stop Son, I did it because I wanted you to marry someone your class, please listen" She ran to him and blocked his way.

"Let me pass Mama" Ahmad gritted clenching and unclenching his fist.

"Alhaji talk to them, you know why I did that"

"No Turai, I had no idea you did that, You didn't tell me about it, You did not tell me you paid someone to do something like that, Subhanallah" Alhaji Sunusi said pacing the pacio.

"And you know what the painful thing is? After everything Mama, I still can't get angry at you, My love for you is blinding me always, but Salman was right, I wish you're not my mother too" Ahmad slowly moved her from his way and walked off.

"Well I never expected that, just look at what you've done to yourself?" Alhaji Sunusi held Hajiya Turai and made her sit on one of the chairs, she was too shocked to say a word.

"It's not just her fault Alhaji, You gave her a go ahead and now just because of her mistakes this family is crumbling" Mommy talked for the first time.

"My problem is none of your business woman, mind your words" Hajiya Turai seethed fuming in anger.

"I didn't say it is Hajiya, Alhaji I'd like to talk to you if you don't mind" Mommy addressed Alhaji Sunusi ignoring the fact that Hajiya Turai was fuming like an angry hyena right beside him.

Alhaji Sunusi adored Mommy even though Hajiya Turai was the queen of the house, the alpha and omega, so he told her wait for him inside the living room and he would meet her after some minutes.

"Don't keep me waiting" Mommy smiled and went inside.

"Turai..." Alhaji Sunusi began but she cut him off.

"Just leave me alone, I need to think" Hajiya Turai grumbled.

He left her alone and marched back to his living room, he sat beside Mommy and she started talking to him about what Salman asked her to when his phone began ringing. Inna was the one calling him so he cleared his voice and picked it.

"Assalamu Alaikum" He salaamed.

Mommy watched as his demeanor changed, he dropped the call and hastily dialled another number on his phone.

"Where are you? Start the car right now, we're going somewhere" He informed the person he called.

He was too panicked to inform Mommy what Inna told him, he rushed to his and she followed him.

"Alhaji is something wrong?" She stopped him when he came out from the closet holding his cap.

"Ya Salaam, Inna was crying, her words were incoherent but I know something must be wrong, I have to go"
