I heard a soft, gentle voice whisper in my ear. I cracked open my eyes. I was in a warm, dimly lit room, sitting on a bed. There was a dark red rug covering only part of the dark brown wooden floor. The walls were painted a brownish red color, with maroon curtains covering the windows. I was being spoon fed something extremely hot, sweet and bubbly, almost like soda. It tasted like sugar cookies. I felt a sharp pain in my arm before I flinched. The woman's voice filled my ears again. "O-Oh dear... I'm so sorry, I haven't clipped my claws in a few weeks..." she stuttered. I gave her a confused look before I finally looked up.

She had a dogs head. She looked kinda like a husky. She had warm looking eyes and gray fur. She was wearing a dark red turtle neck sweater with gray sweatpants. She had hands, but they were more dog-like than humanoid. They were covered in white fur and they had paw pads and sharp claws. She had a fluffy tail that was covered in gray and white fur. I was startled. I jumped back immediately and started trembling a small bit. "Wh-What the fuck?!" I shouted. She looked surprised. "O-Oh! I forgot, you're a human. W-Well... please don't be scared. I won't hurt you!" She smiled, showing her sharp teeth. Her smile faded before she set the bowl and the spoon down. She put her paw on my shoulder and looked me in the eye. "Wh-Where am I?" I asked her. Suddenly, the door swung open, with 6 other dog girls running in. They seemed to be fighting over who got in the room first. "I wanna see him first!!" Some of them barked at each other. "N-now now, ladies..." the husky got up and calmed everyone down. After she did, she stood next to the bed I was in. "Everyone, yes, this is a human." She said. They were all looking at me curiously. "My name is Octavia." The husky said. "Everyone go ahead and introduce themselves!"

One dog that looked like a black Labrador retriever with yellow eyes walked forward. She was wearing a black sweater with black leggings, and dark blue socks. "Hey. My name is Brooke." She stepped back again, seeming unimpressed. Her voice sounded raspy and deep, kinda like the voice I heard when my leg got chopped off.

Another one stepped forward. She was a golden doodle with red eyes and round, golden glasses. She wore a yellow sweater with green knee high socks. "Hello!!! My name is Kimberly! I'm so excited to meet a human!" She laughed. I chucked a little bit too.

"Alright, alright..." A German shepherd with bright green eyes, a blue beanie, a light blue sweater and dark blue leggings. "Hiya. My name's Leah. Nice to meet ya." She said.

A beagle with dark blue eyes, her white patches in her fur a little dirty, wearing a bright purple tee shirt with black shorts. "I'm Bailey." She said, sounding nervous.

A yellow lab wearing a white tank top with light green leggings, pink socks, and pink eyes held the back of her neck. Her hair was in a high ponytail with her bangs hanging down. She had light green eyeshadow. "Hey, my name is Aviana." She said in a confident tone.

Lastly, a Dalmatian with light blue eyes, wearing a TON of mascara and blush, wearing a purple off the shoulder sweater with light purple short shorts smiled. "Hey! I'm Sahara!" She giggled.

Octavia looked at me. "Well, that's everyone!" She said. "Now, we don't wanna keep calling you "Human", so, what's your name?"

For some reason, I had to think about that question for a split second before I spoke. "My name's Toby." I said, sounding WAY better than before. Octavia smiled at me, sitting next to me on the bed. "Now, everyone can get to know Toby later, I have to keep giving him his medicine... so don't worry! Everyone can talk to each other soon!"

Everyone left the room, talking to each other and gossiping. When the door closed, Octavia turned to me and smiled, picking up the bowl and spoon again. "You've been out for 5 hours." She said. "You have an awful fever... 102 degrees..."

"Who... What......" I had no idea what to say. I was still confused.

She lifted the spoon from the bowl and brought it to my mouth. "It's medicine. It'll help you feel better." She said. She rested it on my bottom lip, and I slowly drank it from the spoon. She placed it back in the bowl before she sighed. "I know you're probably confused. We're dogs, yes, we're not the only ones though. Our species lives in the forest." She spoon fed me more medicine, then continued. "But... I fear both the human race and our race is in danger."

My stomach started to tingle. "What do ya mean?" I asked her.

She set the bowl with the spoon down on her night table. "That woman who attacked you, her name is Brianna Beadle. She leads this organization that's been planning to take over the country for a long time now."

"What... how the hell are they gonna do that?"

"You see..." she scratched her head. "Each town in this country has a system. Those systems control the country's water supplies, jobs, schools, they basically make sure the country stays clean and a good place for people to live. Brianna and her organization want to take those systems over and, well, control everything that happens in the country."

She was about to spoon feed me more medicine, but suddenly, the door burst open. It was Kimberly, and she looked ecstatic. "Kimberly!! What in God's name are you doing??" Octavia yelled at her. "It's ready!!!" She shouted, running over to me with a red cardboard box. "Already? It's only been five hours! You've been working nonstop for 5 hours?!"

Without answering Octavia, she ripped open the box and pulled out what seemed to be a mechanical leg. It was painted pink, and it had about 5 buttons on the ankles. It looked like a series of pink wires shaped into a leg. She pulled off the blanket I was under, revealing my half-leg. I almost vomited at the sight of my own broken bone and ripped skin. She looked up at me. "It's a mechanical leg! It will help you walk again!" She smiled before she hooked up the leg to my knee, she pressed a bright blue button, and I felt it tighten just enough to be attached to my bone. She pressed a few more buttons on it before she swung her head up and grabbed my arm. "Try to walk in it. I'll help you for a bit, then I'll let you go on your own." She pulled on my arms. I scooted off the bed and stood on the ground. Nothing seemed weird or felt weird, I was standing perfectly as if I still had my right leg. "Ok, now just walk like you always would!" She clutched my arm as she waited with anticipation for me to take a step. I took a deep breath, then stepped forward. I felt completely normal. I took another step. The end of the fake leg bent as I stepped forward. I took a few more slower steps before Kimberly let go of my arm. I walked slower, but then I started to get the hang of it. I took quicker steps, before I started to walk normally. I ran across the room and back to Kimberly. She smiled as big as she could while hopping up and down. "It works!! He can walk again!!" She smiled and hugged me. I hugged her back, smiling at her as well. Octavia giggled and grinned at us.

After Kimberly let go, she looked at Octavia. "Can he meet everyone else now? We're all waiting in the living room!! I made cookies and tea for everyone!!!" She hopped in place for a little bit before she stopped and waited for an answer. Octavia sighed, then walked up behind me. "I have to stay with him. He's extremely sick." She put her paws on my shoulders. "Toby, would you like to meet everyone? Or are you shy?"

I smiled. "Yeah, sure." I said. Kimberly smiled. "Yay!!" She ran out of the room, leaving the door open. Octavia led me out of the room, holding my hand gently. As I walked out of the room, I looked around. The hallways were painted deep red, and there were small night tables attached to the walls. Some had vases filled with red and pink roses, some were covered in dust. There was a heater in the corner of the floor, banging sounds coming from it. I felt the heat on my leg as I walked passed it. I held Octavia's paw before I saw Kimberly quickly move out of the way. The six women were sitting on 3 different couches. Brooke was sitting alone on the dark red love seat. She looked up from her cell phone before stuffing it in her pocket. "Hiya, Toby." She smirked at me. I managed to crack a smile and wave shyly. Everyone else looked up at me and smiled, greeting me happily, almost as if this was their first time meeting a human. Maybe it was.
