"He said it looked something like this." Kie said, keeping her eyes fixated on the drawing in-front of her.

"That's 50 feet down, and they're using 100-feet rope. So I guess this little wagon will go..." Aria bit her bottom lip out of focus.

"...straight to the gold room." Sarah finished her sentence.

Aria traced her eyes over the wiggly lines, messy handwriting and the terrible attempt at drawing, "Who drew this?"

Kie laughed, rolling her eyes. "Who do you think?"

Pope lifted his head off his hands, coming out of a deep thought. "We get this boat winch out, bring it to the basement, drill into the floor. We lower you down and get as much as we can. And, uh... this time we don't drop you. That'd be great."

"Kie! This better work." JJ cautioned, pulling out the solid gold brick.

"We can't pawn this if there's a giant wheat symbol on it." Kie reached foward, taking the gold out of his hand while setting up the fire. "It's gonna work."

She burned as much as she could, not wanting it to look not believable. JJ made a judgmental face as he sat in the van, placing the melted gold in his palm.

"Hell of a job melting it down, Dr. Frankenstein." JJ muttered as he stepped out of the van, closing the door.

"Like you could've done better." Kie scoffed, folding her arms. JJ faced her, holding the gold up to his face. "I could have. I took a welding class. You..."

"Whoa, whoa. Hey. Sh!" John B cut off their brewing argument. "When?" Kie asked, blowing off JB.

"Chill out, okay?" Pope hushed them. "Easy for you to say. You're not the one that has to pawn this piece of shit off." JJ turned around, making his way towards the entrance of the pawn shop. "How did I get this job anyway?"

Aria paused at the door, leaning up and pressing a kiss to JJ's lips, "'Cause you're the best liar."

The bell on the door rang as the teens walked in, them separating away from each other while JJ and Aria walked to the front desk. According to JJ he refused to do it if she wasn't by his side.

"Afternoon, ma'am." JJ said sweetly, putting on his best fake smile.

The lady behind the counter glanced JJ up and down before doing the same to Aria. "Afternoon."

JJ placed his bag on the table, "I see you buy gold."

"That's what the sign say, don't it?" She spoke rudely, her patience running low.

JJ ducked his bottom lip into his mouth to avoid saying something he would regret. He unzipped his backpack and rummaged threw it. "Well, I sure hope you buy a lot of it, because I'm about to blow your mind."

"I ain't got much mind left to blow, so have at it."

Her expression change as JJ placed the melted gold block down on her counter. "How about them gold apples?"

She chuckled loudly, probably in disbelief, "That ain't real."

He stared at her, furrowing his brows before turning to Aria, "That ain't real?"

"It can't be." She fought. I mean if some teenagers showed up in my pawnshop with a brick of gold, I wouldn't believe it either.

Aria rocked on the balls of her feet, pushing the gold closer towards her, "Feel how heavy it is."

"Mm-hm. Mm-hm!" JJ hummed in victory as her hand shook once she placed it in her hands.

"Let's get some light on that." She flicked the light on, shining it in different places on the gold block. "Spray-painted tungsten."

JJ scoffed, "Spray-painted tungsten? Really? Okay."

"Why don't you see how, uh, soft it is?" Aria encouraged, placing her tongue to the roof of her mouth.

"You mind?" She directed the question more towards JJ who agreed. "No, go for it."

They watched as she ran her fingertips over it, her brows raising as she felt the softness of it. "Wow. Would you look at that?" JJ nudged Aria.

"Hold your horses. We ain't got to the acid test yet." She moved away from the counter, grabbing a dropper filled with acid.

"Ooh! The acid test. My favorite, guys." JJ cheered, watching as the acid just sat there.

The worker sighed, still suspicious. "Well, it ain't plated, and it ain't painted."

"Ma'am, I'm telling ya, this is as real as the day is long." JJ readjusted his rings, placing them on the counter. Now we weren't lying when we said JJ was a damn good liar.

"It looks like somebody tried to melt it down." She glanced up at them, the gold flaking out at the side from the melting.

"My mom." JJ hesitated, his lips pouting out. "She had all this jewelry laying around the house, and she thought it was best to... to melt it down. To "consolidate" it."

"Seven pounds? That's a lot of earrings." She placed the gold down on the counter.

"Okay, to be honest, ma'am..." JJ breathed, his voice breaking. "...it's really hard to see my mom fall apart with Alzheimer's."

Her face stayed the same as JJ "confessed" his story, she took one last glance at the gold, "Give me a minute."

Aria placed a hand on JJ's back, rubbing small circles, "Take your time, ma'am."

They waited patiently as the pawnbroker has disappeared behind the curtain, having a word with her boss.

She cleared her throat as she walked in, all of their eyes snapping to her, "I talked to my boss."

JJ tilted his head to side, "And?"

"And, uh, this is what I can do. Fifty thousand?" She attempted to deal with JJ who wasn't having it. He shook his head quickly, placing his fingers down on the counter once more, "You think I walked in here not knowin' the spot price? Ma'am, I know for a fact this is worth 140, at least."

"Well, sweetie, you in a pawnshop. This ain't Zurich." She dropped her small smile.

"Ninety, or I walk." JJ said through gritted teeth, "Seventy. Half price... and, um..." The worker leaned closer to them, "I don't ask questions about where you got this."

Aria smiled, wrapping an arm around JJ's lower back, "I'm gonna need that in large denominations, please."

"Well, here's the snag. I don't have that much denominated, not here anyway." She watched JJ's and Aria's expressions fall. "I can write you a cashier's check."

Aria leaned forwards, "Cash... No, ma'am. I want the cold hard. That's what that sign says." She gestured to the large bold letter sign, "Cash for gold. And that's what I expect. I'm gonna get it in cold hard."

She sighed, moving backwards and glancing at something next to her, "Well, I have to send you to the warehouse. I have the money there. Is that all right?"

"Where's this warehouse?" Aria sent her group of friends a thumbs up.
