Good morning, I'm leaving for Kansas tomorrow because I can't stand my roommate and one of my neighbors. I am in such a bittersweet mood I wrote a contrasting poem.

Woke up like a mess.

Needed to get dressed.

Am really really stressed.

Ellie has grown no breasts.

Colby Brock is a dick.

Thank you.

I should've written that down, but naw, too genius to share.

I was just brushing my teeth and fixing my hair in my bathroom til I heard some knocks on my door.

"Ashh! I know you're up, c'mon talk to me!" Ellie shouts.

"Brushin ma teeth!" I mumble as loud as I can.

"I bought breakfast, you're favorite! A hash brown from McDonald's and a sandwich from Dunkin'!"

Listening to her say that made my mouth water. She knows me so well. Fuck, I'm going to go eat that shit up.

I throw my hair up into a messy bun and walk out my room to the kitchen.

"Where's the food at?" I ask.

"It's not here yet. Listen we nee-"

"WHAT, I come out to eat my favorite food and it ain't even here yet? Bitch bye," I say, giving her the hand and walking back to my room.

"ASHLYN MACKENZIE NEIL!" Ellie screams.

I stop in my tracks and sigh, closing my eyes shut. Why...

"What El," I murmur.

"Come here, we need to talk," She says from her seat at the table.

"Stop talking to me like you're my mom...what do you want," I sigh even louder than before, taking a seat across from her;

"Colby is gonna come over and bring over your breakfast and the three of us plus Sam, are going to have to chat about last night. I know you did something too that was unspeakable with Sam," She accuses.

"Sam and I did get a lil' wild, but nothing as bad compared to you!" I respond, harshly.

"Oh no, you were worst last night! I didn't do anything bad, you hypocrite," She angrily says.

"Probably, but it was morally wrong for you in the first place! If anything, you're the hypocrite," I say, turning my head away and crossing my arms.

"Ash, for the last time I didn't do whatev-"

A sudden knock sounds on the door. Ellie groans and walks up to the door and opens it.

"WHAT?" She asks, not noticing it was Sam and Colby.

"Well good morning to you too, Sunshine?" Sam laughs, sarcastically.

"I got her breakfast," Colby says to Ellie, holding up the Dunkin Donuts and McDonald's bag.

"Ugh, you invited them over? I'm not even dressed," I say with annoyance.

"Neither am I, but get used to it. They're our neighbors and friends," She says, placing her hands on her hips.

"Whatever, I'm going to change." I pick myself up and trudge to my bedroom.

Ellie whispers to the guys, but loud enough that I could still hear faintly, "I feel like I'm raising a teenage girl who just got her period."

"I heard that, hoe bag," I yell.

"You look like a hoe bag," Colby yells instead, back.

What an asshole. Thinking he can show up at my apartment? It's not even Ellie's. Do they even know that?

I roll my eyes and slam the door, I just wanted to hang out with Sam before I leave tomorrow.

Is that so much to ask?

I get into my closet and browse through my clothes. What outfit will make me look cute enough to look like I don't care about what the hell they're doing? I find an outfit I've been wanting to wear for a while and quickly toss it on with a pair of cute shades and floppy hat so I don't really have to do my hair.

I strut out the door and the guys stare at me, but it was as if they liked how I looked. Which surprised me because Colby wasn't even paying attention to Ellie anymore either. Ellie noticed and looked at me. I grabbed my purse and my black ankle boots and sat down at the table with them all.

"Are you going somewhere?" Ellie asks, raising an eyebrow. It seemed like she was actually my parent. Which made me feel so annoyed, I honestly didn't want to be around her for any longer. Here's the plan, grab my free breakfast, Sam, and leave.

"I need my breakfast now," I say, folding my hands under my chin and putting my elbows on the table. Ellie looks at Colby and nods to give me the to-go bags. He slowly hands them to me, but I quickly snatch them and stand up.

"Thanks! Hey Sam, remember yesterday? You said we could hang out," I say smiling cheekily.

"Um, no, we all need to talk right now," Ellie says, getting in front of me.

"We have tomorrow, El," I reply, rolling my eyes. Truth is, I'm not here tomorrow though so jokes on them. "So what do you say, Sam?"

"I mean, I guess..." Sam shrugs, standing up too.

"Dude...c'mon," Colby shakes his head, disapprovingly to Sam.

"What? I did say I would to her already," Sam defends.

"Well, we'll be off!" I say, grabbing Sam's arm and running out the door of my apartment. "Run!"

"ASH, We bought you breakfast!" Ellie screams after Sam and I running to the elevator. I press the button and we get in, laughing.

"What? Can't hear you, in the elevator. Bye!" Sam loudly replies back, chuckling.

"Good one bro," I smile, impressed.

"What can I say? I'm the best at acting, obviously," He boasts.

"I always found you for a director kind of guy," I grin, pinching his cheeks.

"Yeah, one day. Directing is probably what I really want to do one day, but Sam and Colby will always be there," He grins, pinching my cheeks.

After the elevator ride, we head to my car.

"I'll drive!" I say, getting into the seat.

"Ya sure? I'm happy to, for you if you want," He offers.

I fix my rear view mirror and push in my sunglasses, "Don't be ridiculous, it's my car, I got this Sammy boy."

"Aight, I really gotta pick up my car soon..." He obliges and gets in, next to me.

I roll out, and we both decide to go hang out at a nearby Starbucks since he felt like a hot chocolate at eighty degree weather and I needed a place to eat my pre-bought breakfast.

Courtesy to Mr. Stupid-fucking-asshole, Brock and my bitchy bff, Ellie.

When we got there, Sam ordered two as a thank you for me driving him. Which was really kind of him. Why doesn't he have a girlfriend again?

"Ya know, you didn't have to get me one..." I say, awing as I take a sip.

"Whatever, you're already drinking it anyways!" He laughs, pointing. I giggle, still sipping it's savory chocolate flavor.

"You, a kind sir is very kind."

"I know," He flips his non-existent long hair. "So what's the plan today Ash?" He asks, taking a whiff of his beverage.

"Well, I haven't gone to the Grove yet and gotten a Krispy Kreme..." I smirk.

"Mmm, yeah. I'm already craving glazed goodness ," He replies, rubbing his stomach.

"Definitely," I grin, taking bites out of my Dunkin Donuts sandwich.

"So, what do you think Colby and Ellie wanted to talk about?" Sam asks, putting his drink down.

"Probably about last night, Ellie was interested in what we did," I roll my eyes, now nibbling on my hash brown from McDonald's.

"Oh goodness, she'll probably get jealous that we did something fun without her," He smiles, putting his hand on his forehead.

"True, that sounds like Ellie. Did you and Colby fight yesterday?" I ask, continuing to eat.

"Nah, not really. But after you left, we didn't talk for almost the whole day," He says.

"Wow... didn't think he be that pissy," I whistle.

"Same, it was real strange. I think he even left the apartment to go hang with our other friends, Gabe and Corey."

"Who's Gabe and Corey?" I ask. Colby has more friends? I mean, Sam and Colby have more friends besides each other? Ha, I'm surprised.

"Some of our viner friends, we've been hanging with them last Spring break. We actually came to look at the apartment we live in now, during then. Gabe showed us around LA for like three days. Then we met Corey from him," He says.

"Cool, I think I've heard of them. Gabe Erwin and Corey Shears?"

"Scherer," He laughs, "I'm gonna tell him that you said his last name wrong."

"Noo, if I meet him, the first thing he'll think of me will be as 'that girl who pronounced my name wrong," I plead.

"But it'll be funny," He whines.

"In my defense, I don't really know him!" I laugh.

"Whatever, Ashlyn," He smiles.

We had just gone out for Krispy Kreme and let me just say I've never had a better glaze doughnut in my whole entire fucking life. Sam was practically drooling when we were waiting in line, and when we each took a bite out of one doughnut, we bought a dozen whole other doughnuts. Gotta savor some for tomorrow. I might have the leftover ones for breakfast before I board the plane. I mean, I have had Krispy Kreme before and I assume so has Sam since there was a shop in Overland, Kansas. But hey, they're good as fuck.

"I can't believe we bought a dozen," Sam says, shoving a vanilla iced doughnut into his mouth.

"Neither can I, these are legendary," I say, holding the box. We were walking back to car, which was about a ten minute walk.

"Yeah, and so bomb that ISIS can use them to blow up a plane," He adds, with a mouthful.

"Sam! Let's hope there's no terrorists here because if there is, they'll BOMB you!" I say, shaking my head.

"Right, forget that then," He laughs. "I wonder what Colby and Ellie are doing."

"Staging an intervention for us," I laugh.

"Should we not go back home yet?" He asks, stopping.

"Hmm," I pretend to think about it for a second, "Yeahhh."

So for the rest of the day, Sam and I spent time shopping and hanging out. I even went and vlogged a few funny moments on my iPhone since I didn't have my vlog camera. I bought some cute short sleeved shirts and high-waisted shorts since I now realize that I only got enough clothing for half the year. Sam did too, and I even picked an outfit for him to buy for his next Sam and Colby photoshoot.

Once it started getting late, we decided to head home.

But little does Sam know, we're going to go pick up his car. I feel like a nice person for doing this for him. Haha, I smile at my own thoughts.

Thing is, Colby's car is also here, but we ain't gonna pick his car up. That's for being a little shit.

And somebody I can't stop liking.

I hate him.

"Hey, are you lost Ashlyn? This doesn't look like it's the way," Sam's confused look was funny enough. This was like a prank, but it was more of a good deed.

"Nah, I know where I'm going," I reply, grinning too wide than I should have.

Sam glances at me, puzzled, "Then where are we going..."

I turn into the autobody shop where his car was now done and fixed. What apparently happened is that he and Colby's car got bumped into each other somehow and had to get repaired for the minor dents.

"To get your kind of  brand new car!" I shout, like those people on the game shows.

"Awesome! Finally I can drive again and live ma life," Sam says happily, pumping his fists.

"You're welcome," I smile.

"You're amazing, holy crap thanks," Sam grins, side hugging me as I park. He runs out the car into the shop. I sit, looking at how ecstatic and cute he was.

Why don't I like him?

Why can't I like him?

Maybe if I hang out with him more, I'll like him.

Colby's a fucking bitch.

A good-looking ass bitch.

Sam skips out the building with his keys.

"Ashlyn Neil! Look I got my keys to my baby!" He happily says, shoving the keys at my window and kissing them

"Nice! Now lets go home!" I laugh, starting my car.

"Meet you there!"

We arrive home, separately. After getting out of our cars and riding up the elevator, Sam told me he was, in a way, exhausted. I understood so he left to his own apartment. He forgot his keys so he called Colby to get him inside, but I booked it before I saw him open the door.

Colby might be the last person I want to see after my dream yesterday, and his rude attitude.

Which is daily for me.

I get inside and take off my boots.

I decide to sit on the couch and scroll through instagram while eating some leftover Krispy Kreme but that was a mistake.

I lied, Colby isn't the last person I wanted to see.

Ellie is.

"Ash, where have you been..." She says, quickly shuffling out her room.

"With Sam, okay?" I bluntly reply.

"For the whole day? Aren't you sick of him, especially from yesterday night?" She asks.

"When did you become my mom?" I groan.

"Answer the damn question, Ash."

"You answer mine."

"Because we need to talk seriously and you're not being the cooperative person I want you to be," She crosses her arms.

"Wow...mature!" I fake gasp, "If you wanted to know so bad, yes for the whole day. He's becoming more of my best friend so no, I'm not sick of him at all." I stand up and trek to my bedroom. "Because I am getting sick of you," I say, flinging my door open and closed.

I flop onto my bed. I hope this will all just go away in a week. I begin to pack my suitcase with the new clothing I had bought at the Grove and all my needed essentials.

Once I finished packing, I went straight to bed.

And crashed so hard to sleep.

Bye, California!

I mean, yeah I hung out with you for a week but now I'm leaving you for a week.

Hi, Kansas! I'll see you in five hours.

I'll hang out at the airport early so I don't have to say bye to Ellie, since she's not awake right now. It's seven o'clock in the morning and I've never felt so awake. I realized, after I was done showering, that I didn't have a ride to the airport.

So I facetimed Sam.

Urgently, because now I'm going to be late!

And when he picked up, it was pitch black.

"HEY, wake up and come out into the hallway right now, it's an emergency!" I yell into the phone and hang up.

I grabbed my luggage, pillow and phone and leave my room. I had packed my vlog camera in my backpack and my earbuds were already in. Then I slipped on my white converse and wait outside for Sam.

A solid four minutes passed and I was getting impatient. I banged on the door, not caring if Colby woke up.

But to my surprise, he did.

And opened the door, dressed, and tired.

"Alright, what do you want, Neil."

"Y-you're not Sam," I stammer, baffled by who stood before me.

"No shit sherlock, now what is so important that you had to wake me up at five in the morning?" He rubs his eyes, unamused.

"Um, it's seven, Colby."

"In Kansas, it's five," He yawns, annoyed.

"Where's Sam, why isn't he here?" I ask, tapping my foot.

"You facetimed me, Sam's passed out," Colby pulls out a phone but looks at it confused, "Oh wait, this isn't my phone..."

"Fucking idiot," I say under my breath, rubbing my forehead. "Okay, I need a ride to the airport, so could you please go wake up Sam so he can take me."

"I can take you, but he doesn't have a car, so..." Colby reassures.

"On the contrary, I brought him to the autobody shop and we picked up his car so his keys might be somewhere with him."

"Ugh, and you didn't even get my car? Great, I'll go get the keys, be right back..." Colby yawns again and slowly walks inside like a sloth.

"Hurry up! I'm going to be late!" I yell from behind. I'm not going to be late, I just couldn't stand waiting and feeling uncomfortable. My mortal enemy is okay with driving me to the airport. Some rivalry.

After a short amount of time, Colby runs out with Sam's keys and the right phone.

"Aight, let's move," He says, running down to the elevator, with me following.

Goddammit this boy.

A sleepy Colby is pretty attractive, especially with that morning voice.

Goddammit my rival.

I hate him.

But grateful he's driving me.

He makes it hard to hate him has a person, so I'll just hate him because he's my rival.

I hate liking my rival.
