"There was a bit of an incident at school today." Ryan started.

"Ryan!" I dragged out his name and glared. I knew Nick would be just as frustrated as Ryan was, but I didn't want to argue with him either.

"Ash, don't be childish, just tell me." Nick said seriously. I had worked out that not only was he serious, but he was also extremely impatient too.

I hesitantly let Ryan explain the whole thing, earning an unimpressed look when the fact I never had lunch arose, but that was nothing compared to his face when the Jonah bit was heard. I couldn't even begin to describe the emotions on his face, which was rather shocking since for someone who showed so little expression, Nick sure showed a lot this time.

"Hold on." Nick moved closer and covered my ears, so I could only hear muffled noise. "Sorry, that wasn't for innocent ears to hear." If only he knew how much swearing I'd actually heard in my lifetime. "Ash, that is unacceptable of him and I'm sorry on his behalf that he'd say something like that. I am your brother one hundred percent, and he has no right to make comments like that to you." Nick told me, in the most genuine way possible.

"I just don't understand. Does he not want me to be here or be your sister or something else?" I rambled.

"We don't know Ash." Ryan sighed. I rubbed my eyes, trying to stop the tears that were forming. At first, I was angry and frustrated he would comment what he did, but now I was just offended, confused, and upset. "Don't cry." Ryan hugged me tight.

"Don't think about it anymore. I'll make sure he gets sorted out, okay?" Nick reassured me.

"Okay." I nodded.

"On a different note, how was the maths test?"

"I forgot you had that today!" Ryan exclaimed.

"I think I did alright. I answered all the questions and checked all the ones I could."

"Well done." The two of them echoed.

"Does that mean you're out for dinner tonight?" Nick asked.

"Dad promised." I nodded. "And I'm having Nutella pizza." I whispered to Ryan, giggling as I did.

"Lucky girl." He grinned. Nick just ignored it, although my whispering skills weren't too impressive, so I figured he'd probably heard me anyway. "I think mum is out for dinner anyway tonight so boys night it is."

"Is mum home?" I asked. "I miss her."

"She should be soon. I'll go find out." Nick left me and Ryan to chat.

"Excited for your birthday?" He asked.

"Yeah. I'm going shopping on Friday!"

"Are you now? Who with?"
"Tate and Gabby. Oh, and another friend." I added the last bit, just to see his reaction.

"Is that this same male who is coming to your party on Saturday?" He exaggerated the fact he was indeed of the male species. It's not like he should have anything against them, considering Ryan indeed was one of them.

"Yeah. Levi."

"I don't like this Levi kid."

"You don't even know him!"

"Don't care. I know what he wants."

"To be friends with me?"

"Sure; friends." He rolled his eyes.

"Yes! Friends! We work together in biology."

"Whatever."

"Next you're gonna try telling me he just wants to get in my pants. That doesn't make sense Ryan, he won't fit!" I exclaimed.

"Oh, I'm sure he would make it work." I looked at him confusedly, so lost as to what he meant. There was no way he could fit in my pants; the fabric just would not stretch that much. "Sorry, forgot I was talking to you." He backtracked slightly, looking a bit embarrassed.

"I'm just so confused." I grumbled, standing up and actually going to get changed this time.

"Mums home." Ryan said, getting up to leave.

I hurried to get changed, putting on my jeans and the champion hoodie mum bought for me when I was in hospital, attempting to look slightly put-together since I was going out for dinner. Then, I hurried out.

"Hi Mumma." I smiled, walking straight into her arms. I was smaller than her still, despite Austin being much taller than her, even though we're twins.

"Hey honey." She laughed at my childlike affection. "You alright? Nick filled me in on your day. That boy." She shook her head.

"I'm fine now." I nodded, not letting go of her.

"I'm glad." She kissed my forehead. "I do not like when my baby is upset." Before I could even react, a loud thud interrupted me. I turned to see River seemingly passed out on the floor.

"Is he alright?" I asked mum as I saw his arm move into a more dramatic pose.

"Wait for it."

"I can't believe you've replaced me!" River exclaimed, in the most extravagantly dramatic way possible. "I am your baby, not her!" I couldn't help but buckle over laughing, only making for the perfect opportunity for River to quickly stand up to swoop in and take my place hugging mum. "See, Ash." He smirked.

"You're both my baby's. All of you lot are." Mum laughed. I noticed time and time again; there was just something in her presence and her laugh that made her so calming and joyous to be around.

"Well, I think that it's just me but whatever you say." He sighed in mock disappointment.

"What're you dressed for, honey?" Mum directed the question at me, whilst River, who cowered over her in height, still hadn't let go. It was hard to admit I was a tad jealous.

"I'm going out for dinner! And I'm having Nutella pizza!" I couldn't help but to squeal in excitement.

"I wouldn't be telling Nick about that!" She laughed. "I'm jealous though."

"I already know." Nick appeared, shaking his head. "I'm choosing to ignore it."

"I thought of a birthday present!" I announced.

"What?" Mum, River and Nick all echoed.

"A big, big, big jar of Nutella that I can keep just for me and eat whenever I want!"

"I'll see what I can do." Mum chuckled whilst Nick just rolled his eyes.

"I'm going to pretend I didn't hear that either."

"Also, can I go shopping on Friday with Tate and Gabby?"

"And Levi! He's going too!" Ryan informed everyone as he came into the living room, earning me harsh looks from River and Nick.

"I was joking when I told you that."

"Of course! I can drive you girls there if you'd like. I wouldn't mind doing some last-minute shopping either, whilst I'm there."

"Thankyou!" I hugged Mum again, ignoring River's jokingly unimpressed look, then hurried off to text the two of them and let them know. I couldn't wait.
