Brady had just walked into Alison's house to find an interesting sight. Alison's father was anxiously pacing back and forth while his wife comforted their two children on the couch. From the back patio glass doors, Brady could see police officers in the guesthouse. His muscles tightened with nerves.

A voice from the kitchen surprised Brady. Max was here.

"I'm telling you Alison wouldn't do that," a frustrated Max groaned.

He stormed out of the kitchen and Brady took a step back uneasily.

Max still hated him. Brady still wasn't entirely sure what he had done, but he could guess: Max had heard the rumor about him and Alison. It annoyed Brady that the boy he had once called his best friend could think that low of Brady. He would never do that to his best friend.

"What are you doing here?" Max said with a cold tone.

Brady wasn't sure who in the room knew ASL. He looked at the ground, anywhere but at his old friend. Max came over and before Brady could defend himself, Max shoved his former friend to the ground. Brady glared at him and picked himself up, he shoved Max back and the two continued to fight as Gabriella screamed for her husband and quickly moved the girls from the room as Paul stormed back in.

"Enough, boys stop it!" Paul yelled.

He grabbed Max and practically ripped him away from Brady while a cop gathered Brady up from the ground. Brady quickly shoved the cop off him and wiped his nose which was bleeding.

"What the hell are you doing here?" Max yelled. "Haven't you done enough?"

Brady just rolled his eyes. Out of instinct, he started signing ASL frustratedly. One of the cops watched him while Alison's father went to get some washcloths to clean the two boys up.

"He says that he's worried about Alison," the cop said.

Brady looked up at him surprised.

"My dad was deaf," he shrugged in response.

The translation did nothing to soothe Max's anger.

"We don't need you here," he said icily.

The cop ignored Max and turned to Brady. "Alison is missing again," the cop explained.

Brady's heart skipped a beat. His expression must have been clear enough, the cop began to study Brady curiously. Max however, was not as patient.

"Get out!" Max yelled again.

"Hold on, Max," the cop said patiently. "I think Brady might be able to help us."

Brady looked back over at the cop, Max just angrily went back to the dining table and took a seat.

"Do you know a Katherine Collins?" the cop questioned.

Brady stared at him with a look of confusion, he shook his head. Who the hell was Katherine?

The cop went to check with the other officers outside, while Brady wracked his brain trying to think of who that could possibly be. Meanwhile the door burst open and two unexpected guests arrived. Both looked out of breath and everyone was surprised to see one another.

Hailey and Julia glanced at each other. Then they looked away at once. Well, it looked like the two of them were fighting, or at least that's what Brady thought. His suspicions were only confirmed true when he caught Julia glaring at Hailey. Something she only reserved for those she truly despised. He wondered what had happened between the supposed best friends.

Max however, was not as interested.

"What the hell are you two doing here?" Max asked from the table.

"We heard the sirens," Julia said quietly.

Brady looked over at her but Julia seemed to be looking anywhere but at him.

"Alison's missing," Max muttered.

Julia looked sick. She stumbled a bit before catching herself.

"There's no way," she whispered.

"Obviously she just ran away or something," Hailey said, rolling her eyes. "I mean come on people, there is statistically no way a girl goes missing twice in two years."

Everyone stared at Hailey with angry expressions.

"What? It's the truth, the bitch ran away."

Max angrily stood up, sending the chair he was sitting on flying into the wall.

"Don't talk about her like that," he threatened.

"Or what?" Hailey asked with a hand on her hip.

Max looked ready to attack her, but Julia stepped in.

"Hailey, the only bitch around here is you," Julia countered. "Now, if you don't care about Alison then get the hell out of here."

Hailey stared at Julia for a moment, finally she just laughed.

"Yeah, whatever, waste your life worrying about the girl who probably ran away from all of you," Hailey said with a smirk. She turned on her heel and left the house.

When it was just the three old friends in the living room, things got awkward. Max refused to look at either of them, instead staring straight ahead at the door. Almost as if hoping Alison would walk through it. Brady was looking between Max and Julia. Julia was staring at the ground, hoping if she looked hard enough a hole would emerge and she would fall into it.

Julia only looked up when she noticed Brady trying to sign something to them. She felt bad, neither she nor Max knew any ASL.

"Oh for the love of God, Brady! We don't know ASL!" Max shouted.

Brady stared at him. Max didn't like what he saw in Brady's eyes: Betrayal. Max was the one who should feel betrayed, not the other way around.

"Max, stop it," Julia said angrily.

"Tell me you're not mad at him," Max said with a glare.

Julia looked at Brady. She was angry, but she was also miserable. She missed her friends and her boyfriend. She quietly went to the other room and got some paper and a pen for Brady. Julia came back and handed the papers and pen to Brady. He sighed and began to write.

Who is Katherine Collins?

Max and Julia looked at what he wrote. Max rolled his eyes.

"Kate," Max said with a sour look on his face.

Why did the cop mention her? Brady wrote.

"Well, apparently she was the last person who saw Alison before she went missing," Max explained. "But she's useless, all she said was that she saw Alison earlier that night in the guesthouse and left when it got late."

Julia frowned. "Does Kate not care that Alison is missing?" she asked. "I thought they were close?"

Brady looked over at Max, also curious about that. Max just shrugged in response.

"So, no one can get in contact with Alison? She just disappeared?" Julia asked.

Max clenched his jaw. "That's what they're saying."

Brady squeezed his eyes shut before storming out of the house. Julia and Max glanced at each other before quickly following him out.

Brady was getting in his car and Max quickly motioned for Julia to get in as well.

"Where are we going?" Max asked.

Brady glared at them.

Max and Julia could tell he didn't want them around.

"Look, dude. Obviously you know Alison best and you're hiding something," Max said. "So wherever you're going, we're coming."

Brady looked frustrated. He stepped out of the car and hid his phone in a bush. Then he got back in the car.

"Why did you just leave your phone here?" Julia questioned.

Brady rolled his eyes and found a napkin and a pen in the side compartment.

So they can't follow us. Brady wrote.

"Smart," Max murmured.

Brady only nodded. He turned the car on and they hit the highway.

"How long will this road trip be?" Julia asked.

Max grumbled something incoherent and Brady shrugged. Julia just rolled her eyes. A road trip with her ex boyfriend and her ex best friend's ex boyfriend. This would be so fun.
