"Hi, I'm Kira!"

I look up to face the bright smile and outstretched hand of a stranger. I reach out my hand to shake hers. "Hi, Kira. I'm Stella."

She takes a seat on the opposite side of the bench that's in front of Rex's house or as I should say our house. "I already know. I can also tell that we're going to be great friends."

I give her a tight smile and look around to see if anybody else has noticed this strange girl.

"So," I say, "how exactly do you know me?" I ask her

Kira stares at me as if the answer is the most obvious thing in the world. "Adam told me that you needed a friend. He said something about Rex thinking that you're lonely. So, I thought I'd befriend you and we'd become best friends."

Closing the book that I had been reading, I stand up to find Rex. "Um, could you excuse me for a moment?" She nods with a bright smile still planted on her face.

I walk over to the clearing where the young wolves train and spot Rex helping a boy on his combat skills. I speed walk up to him and catch the boys fist right as he was about to hit Rex's hand.

"Sorry, I need to talk to Rex for a second." I say as the boy walks off with the other trainees.

Rex huffs and puts his hands into the pockets of his cargo pants. "What is it that you need, mate?"

"It's not about what I need. It's about what you think I need."

"Can you just tell me what it is. I don't feel like playing the guessing game right now, little one." He raises an eyebrow in amusement.

"What I mean is that you think I'm so helpless that I can't find myself a friend. I'll have you know that I am a very social person."

He sighs. "I don't think that you helpless. I just didn't want you befriending someone of the wrong crowd. There's a lot of people that can be deceiving."

"How do you know that this Kira girl isn't deceiving?" I cross my arms and wait for his response.

"We did a background check on her. I wouldn't let just anybody be your friend." He says.

Rex walks up to me and pulls me into a hug. "Just try getting along with her. If you don't like her then you can find your own friend. I only want what's best for you."

I breathe in his heavenly scent and sigh. "I guess I can give her a chance."

He kisses me on the forehead before sending me of so that he can finish helping with training.

I walk over to find Kira sitting in the same place that I left her. She was still sitting there with a huge smile on her face waiting for me.

"Is everything alright?" She asks as soon as I sat in my former spot on the bench.

I give her a small smile because hers is just so contagious. "Yeah, I just had to handle some things."

"Cool. As your honorary new best friend I have to make sure that you're feeling alright."

I laugh at how bright and bubbly she was. "Thank you. I think might be nice having female company."

"Of course. We could have sleep oversa and watch Netflix. I hope your into the walking dead!" She says.

"Oh my gosh, yes. I try to get Rex to watch it with me all the time, but he doesn't like it. He never likes anything that I watch." I exclaim.

I underestimated Kira. Under that creepy smile might be a totally cool girl.

"Oh my gosh Rex. You won't believe how much stuff Kira and I have in common. Its like we're the same person." I say to Rex.

I'm sitting on the couch in his office as he does paper work.

He gives me a cocky smile. "This is the part where you should be telling me 'thank you'."

"In your dreams, buddy boy." I laugh and walk behind his desk to sit on his lap.

"Do you ever feel said that all your other mates have died?" I ask him.

He tenses a little underneath me then relaxes. "Sometimes," he says as he wraps his arms around me, "but then I realize that I have you and I feel better."

I smile into his chest and bit my lip. "Sometimes I think about what my life would be like if you had one of your previous mates. Like, what if I was never born? Or what if I was mated to someone else and my family was still alive."

Tears start to slowly fall from my eyes. Rex pulls me closer to him and turns my face so that I'm looking at him.

"You're too beautiful to cry, Stella." He says.

I looks into his dark brown eyes and feel safe and warm inside. I nod and try to stop my tears but nothing seems to stop them. Rex places a small kiss on my lips. His tounge traces my bottom lip and I give him entrance. The kiss automatically makes my crying stop and I feel much better.

"I don't ever want you to think about 'what ifs' again, understand? There is only right now; and right now I'm with you and that's how it's gonna stay forever." He kisses the top of my nose, then my forehead, and finally my lips. "I love you, little one."

"I love you, too, T-Rex." I say.

"T-Rex?"

I nod. "You have a nickname for me. You always call me little one or mate. Its only right that I give you one."

"But T-Rex of all names? You couldn't think of one thats better?"

"Unless you wanted to be called Rexy, than no, I can't think of a better name. I'm not good at them." I laugh as he cringes at the name Rexy.

"I can tell you're not good at them." He pats my butt signaling for me to get off of him.

"Did you already eat?" He asks as we walk to the kitchen.

"Mhm. I had dinner with Kira at her place." I sit on the kitchen counter watching Rex cook for himself.

"Are you sure you're not hungry?" He ask as he starts to make chicken.
"Yes, I am very sure, Rexy." I smirk when I see him frown at the name.

"I'd much rather be called T-Rex." He states.

"Yeah, but since I know how much the name Rexy bothers you, I think I'm going to start calling you that."

"I guess I'm going to have to start calling you Stella then."

"That doesn't bother me. It is my name and I've been called that for 18 years." I laugh. I really would bother me if he started calling me by my real name. He rarely ever calls me Stella so it would be weird. Plus, I love it when he calls me little one."

"Really? I already know how much you love it when I call you little one or mate. Your heart skips a beat and your face heats up." He turns the chicken over in the pan to let the other side cook.

"Whatever, Rexy." I say.

"Okay, Stella." He smirks when he sees me frown. "I told you you went going to like it when I call you Stella. Now turn that frown upside down."

He walks over to me and forces my frown into a smile with his two pointer fingers. I have a tight close mouth smile. He laughs at the look I have on my face.

I push him away as he laughs at me."Go eat your food, Rex."
