I needed to talk to Rowan. I hated to say it but I missed him. He was the only person who understood what I was going through. He knew so much more about me than any other person. I wanted to tell him that I was sorry for overreacting but I didn't know how to say it. What do you say to a person who you told that they were just as bad as the guy who raped you?

Regardless of what I was going to say, I needed to see Rowan. I told my parents where I was going and left the house to walk over to Rowan's. The whole way there I thought about how I could apologize to him. I knew now that I should have been grateful it was him who found it rather than him. But I still couldn't shake the feeling of being embarrassed. Did he see me as a broken girl who was used by a guy for his own evil deeds. Or did he see me as Lennon the girl he was friends with as a child?

The day had been boring in itself. I didn't have anyone to sit with at lunch like always and on the bus I fell asleep like always. My life had a natural routine but Rowan messed that all up when he came back into my life after all these years.

I saw him leave school early. I didn't know if he was ill or what was going on and I took this as my chance to tell him I was sorry.

Rowan's vehicle was at his house when I walked up the block to his home. I saw his mother's car and decided to stop in and see if Rowan was home or if she knew where he was. I needed to talk to him and get it done and over with. Get all of the awkwardness out of the way.

I walked up to the front door and was about to ring the doorbell but was put in pause. Rowan's mom opened the door before I got the chance to knock. Her face was full of fear and she had mascara stains on her face. Rowan's brother was right behind her, they both looked like they were leaving in a rush.

"Oh Lennon, sorry dear." She said, wiping her eyes making the makeup smear more.

"Jenny what's wrong?" I asked concern.

"Rowan. He's... he's..." She choked. She held her hand up to her mouth and bit back a sob.

"Rowan's in the hospital." Lachlan finished for his mother.

What? Rowan's in the hospital?

"Is he okay?" I asked worried. I had no clue what happened to Rowan. Did he get in a car accident?

Jenny shook her head. "I don't know. We are on our way now." She said, nodding to the car. "Do you want to ride with us?"

I thought for a moment, of course I wanted to know if Rowan was okay but I couldn't bring myself to face him, in the hospital of all places. I didn't think I could apologize to him with all of his family there. This was a time where his family needed to be with him. They needed to be the ones there for him. I would just get in the way.

"No, thank you though. I don't want to invade your family. But please let me know if he's okay." I stepped out of her way so she could go past me.

"Are you sure?" She asked.

I nodded. I couldn't see him hurt. My heart would break into a thousand pieces if he was to die and my last words to him where, "you're just as bad as him". But I couldn't go.

Jenny stood there, waiting to make sure I wouldn't change my mind. "Mom we need to go." Lachlan he put his hand on his mom's back and shut the door. "Lennon I'll let you know what's going on as soon as we find out anything." Lachlan told me before he rushed his mom to the car.

They left me standing on their steps wearing a few tears on my cheeks. Rowan had to be okay. He just had to. I couldn't lose the only person who was beginning to understand me. Just in the past couple of months he'd helped me so much. Since he started talking to me I'd opened up more to him than anyone else. I'd never talked that much to anyone who wasn't family in months.

When I got home I went straight to my room too nervous and shook up to face my family. I made sure to put my phone on the charger. I was awaiting a text from Lachlan. I tried my best to keep calm but I was freaking out. I felt like I was going to throw up. I didn't know what to do.

I heard my phone vibrate and I quickly jumped up. My eyes went to the clock, it was just after seven. I grabbed my phone. I had one new text, from an unknown number. I hoped it was from Lachlan, about Rowan. I hoped it wasn't from him.

Unknown Number:

Hey Lennon, it's Lachlan. Rowan was in a surfing accident, they're taking him into surgery.

Surgery.

The words were scary enough but knowing that it was Rowan that was going into surgery had me terrified.

I took a deep breath and replied. I had so many questions.

To Lachlan:

Is he okay? Why is he having surgery?

I hesitated, but I sent it.

I never got an answer, but I wasn't angry. I knew Lachlan was worried about his brother and didn't need my constant bugging while his brother was going into surgery. I was thankful that he let me know, what he did.

Rowan was alive but he was going to surgery. He was alive and that's all that mattered to me. I prayed that whatever surgery he was having, he would make it out alive.

"Lennon, mom says you need to come down for supper." Raven knocked on my door. I sighed. This was the first she'd talked to me without adding an insult in somewhere.

I got up from my bed and went to my door. I opened it just a crack to tell her I wouldn't be going to dinner. "I'm not feeling well." I said closing the door.

"Lennon, you know mom wants you downstairs for every meal." Raven knocked on the door again.

"I'm not hungry!" I huffed as I flopped back onto my bed.

"Ugh! Whatever, see if I care if you get in trouble!" She yelled and I heard her walk away from my door, her footsteps thumped against the stairs.

I just needed to know that Rowan's surgery was going well. I couldn't explain how nervous I was. Rowan was a good guy and I just hoped I would get the courage and the chance to tell him that.

Thank you guys for reading. We hope you enjoyed it.
