Chesney is something to be reckoned with. She has a smart mouth on her and I love every minute of it.

I would love to kiss the sass right out of those lips.

She picks up my hammer out of the grass and lays it in my toolbox. "I doubt he will be back."

I chuckle. "Probably not if she says yes to a date."

I begin to pick up the rotten wood and I turn around and she has her arms full of the wood following.

She's not afraid of hard work that's good to know.

"So you are sticking around here then?"

"Yeah, I don't really have a choice. I can't leave the venue in Clay's hands and it was passed down to the women from our generation that just wouldn't be right."

"What about where you live and work?"

"I just had an apartment in New York and I worked in a library so it's not a big deal."

"Nothing wedding related."

"No way." She laughed as we dumped the wood in the back of my truck.

After the wood was in my truck I decided I would go dump it and go on and get the new wood since I had time so I could start early.

Chesney helped me pick up all of my tools since Clay abandoned me and he's still inside.

"Things must of went well since he didn't come back out." I chuckled.

"Must have. Guess it's tv dinner for one tonight."

"I need to dump this wood and I think I will go ahead and pick up what I need and grab some food. Want to go?"

I was nervous as hell waiting on her to respond and I can't believe that I even asked her.

"You know what? Sure I would love to go with you." She smiled.

We both walked inside and Clay was smiling like a dreamy clown hanging on the counter across from Whitney.

"Thanks for leaving me hanging Clay."

"Sorry man I forgot." He laughed.

When Chesney walked back up the hall she had her purse. "I am going with Stone to pick out wood and dinner."

"Is that code for sex?" Clay asked.

I thought I would die right there.

Chesney hit his arm. "No stupid we are getting wood for the arch and dinner since you won't be home to eat with me. "

"Oh, good idea sis." He laughed.

I stepped to the bathroom to wash my hands and then met Chesney outside and I walked around opening the passenger door for her.

Once in the truck, I wasn't sure what to say to her. That wood comment is stuck in my head.

"I swear my mother dropped him on his head as a kid."

"Or he's only thinking of one organ." I laughed.

"That sounds more like it." She giggled.

We pulled up at a lumber yard that I always use but never have brought a woman with me.

"Are you ready to go in?"

"Of course I like wood." She smirked.

I couldn't help but laugh as I walked around the truck and opened her door. I am always a gentleman.

I tried to not walk as fast since she was in heels but we walked around and got the boards and screws that we needed and even the wood for the bench that she wants out back near the fountain because it was rotten as well.

We got everything we needed and went to check out and of course, it was one of the girls that's always trying to flirt with me and I can't stand her.

I stopped before we got to the register and looked at Chesney with pleading eyes. "Just go with what I say ok?"

She looked at me crazy. "Umm ok?"

I walked up to the counter and the girl was batting her eyes and smacking that gum between her lips.

"Hi there Stone." She smiled.

"Hello."

"I see you found all of your wood." She giggles.

I look back at Chesney and I see a smirk on her face and before I knew what was happening Chesney was right beside me and put her hand on my chest.

"Stone and I found all we need."

I was speechless because I had no idea what was happening but the cashier realized and she got mad slinging my screws into a bag.

Chesney never removed her hand from my chest and I must say as awkward as this is I enjoyed her hand on me.

The cashier slammed the receipt in my hand and we walked out to the truck and it wasn't until we got to the truck did Chesney take her hand off me.

I looked at her and she started laughing. "Sorry, but I caught on to her. Just trying to help."

"Thank you! She is one of the reasons I hate going in there. She is always flirting with me and I try to avoid her."

"Well, maybe now she will leave you alone." She smiled picking up the bag of screws and walking to the passenger side door.

I unloaded the wood and took the blue float back and got in the truck.

"So hungry?"

"Yeah I am starving and I am not picky so take me wherever you want to."

"Was the diner around when you still lived here?"

"Oh yeah it was and my dad used to take us there as a treat."

"Well, it's my treat let's go." I smile over at her.

I can't help but get glances at her out of the corner of my eye and the more I watch her the more beautiful she is.

I swear I am acting like a teenager.

We pull up at the diner and I walk around and open her door and follow her inside.

We find a booth and sit down across from each other and our order is taken and it didn't take long until she was recognized and I couldn't help but smile when she did.

I am in serious trouble.
