Being in this house felt like home even though it looked different. Clay even gave me my old room to sleep in.

I have to say it looks much better than it did when I was a kid.

"So what do you think?" He asked standing in the doorway.

"I love it, Clay. Thanks for letting me stay."

"It's no problem. I had an idea though. Since neither of us wants to live in moms place why don't we get rid of the stuff inside and just sell it?"

"At some point, I will need a place to live but I like your idea."

"Well stay with me and the money we make off of the house you can buy something else."

"I can't do that Clay. I can't take all of the money."

"Well, we could always fix up moms house if you want to live in it."

"Hell no!"

He laughed. "Well we don't have to decide it all in one day but for now just stay with me."

"Thanks, Clay! Umm no women in your life?"

"No but I've been trying with one but she doesn't notice me."

"Do I know her?" I smile.

"Whitney." He blushed.

"I can work on that for you." I laugh.

"Go to bed we have an early morning."

"Ok ok, I won't tease you any longer Clay. Goodnight."

"Goodnight sis."

After he closed the door I stepped into the bathroom and brushed my teeth and put on my pj's and got in bed.

The bed was comfy but I tossed and turned all night dreaming of mom.

I set up in bed at 6 am and just got up and took a shower and got ready for the day.

I walked into the kitchen and Clay was standing next to the coffee pot. "Want a cup?"

"Sure." I yawn.

"Did you not sleep?"

"Some but dreamt of mom."

"Scary." He laughed handing me a cup.

"Yeah considering we hadn't talked in a while."

"Well if it makes you feel any better she didn't talk to me either. She would come to the gas station and get gas and drinks and things and pretend she didn't know me."

"What in the actual hell?"

"I have no idea sis. I just quit trying."

I sipped on my coffee trying to figure out why she pushed us away as she did.

"I guess we will never know Clay and I am not going to waste my time trying to figure it out. People talk about her like she was a saint but we know better than that."

"I don't even want to think about all of the beatings you shielded me from sis."

"Don't think about it. Now I got to get to the venue and try to figure this wedding out."

"Good luck and call me if you need anything I just will be stocking the station."

"Thanks, Clay." I sipped my coffee again before walking out the door.

I arrived at Forever Fountain around 8 am and Whitney was getting out of her little car and I walked over to her.

"Good morning!"

"Morning Chesney!" She smiled.

We walked in and I walked around the desk with her. "Ok, I need help."

She laughed. "What can I help you with?"

"Do we have a chef?"

"We do and his name is Dwight and he is amazing!"

"Good! I guess I need to meet him but other than that what all did my mother do? Because I need to step in those shoes."

"She usually put it all on me. I make sure the flowers and food are done and that the dress arrives on time and just all the wedding prep."

"She put all of that on you? Holy shit! I am sorry but that's ridiculous for what you get paid."

"I didn't mind helping your mom out really I love it but it can be tiring."

"Of course, it can Whitney. Listen I want to shadow you for this wedding and see what all you do so that I can help you and if you still do too much you will be getting a raise."

"I don't know what to say." She smiled.

"You don't have to say anything. I need to learn the ropes and you are my person." I laughed.

"How was it sleeping in your mom's place?"

"I didn't. I met Stone he said you are his cousin and then my brother stopped by and when he said she died in the bed I said nope." I laughed.

She giggled. "Oh, he did tell you that part."

"Yeah so now I'm living with him until we can clean her place out and sell it and then I will need to find me a place."

"Really you want to sell it? Maybe I would be interested."

"Really you want to live in a place a dead woman died?"

"Dead people don't hurt you, Chesney. It's the live ones you have got to watch."

"That's so true."

I followed her to the back to meet our chef Dwight and I was pleasantly surprised because he was hot.

I whispered. "Where do all these hot guys come from?"

She giggled. "I have seen a few but this one is a sweetheart but doesn't seem interested in anyone. Who was the other hot one?"

"Your cousin. I was staring at him and let him walk on in before he introduced himself." I laughed.

"Oh god, I love you! We are going to be the best of friends."

"I hope so Whitney. I could use one of those." I smiled as we walked into the kitchen.

Dwight looked up and smiled. "Hi there."

"Dwight this is Chesney Anderson Hazel's daughter and she will be taking over the venue."

"It's nice to meet you I am Dwight and I can make anything your heart desires."

"Well, then Dwight my favorite is a good cherry cobbler with vanilla ice cream."

"I will keep that in mind boss and make you one for the next time I see you."

I couldn't help but smile. I like him he's cute.
