Chapter 7

Zach pov

Liz found a lead on the hacker. We finally had something concrete to go on. Its been days since we found out that she was missing and at last we had a lead. I hate that it took us so long. Within the hour of learning in information we managed to inform everyone involved. Rachel, Solomon, Townsend and Abby were there in a heartbeat.

We were operating now on a much faster pace. All the slow and laborious research was behind us. It did pay off since Liz got us concrete evidence. I cannot explain how happy I am that things are finally moving forward. I knew it wouldn't be easy to get Cammie back but with our recent success I think we could do whatever it takes to get her back.

"He is in the lower east side of the city near the dump." Liz told us while writing down the coordinates. That part was known for its high crime rate. Everything shady or sketchy would be found in that area. Most people try to avoid even driving there. Today we aren't most people.

The drive there was fast, the streets were practically clear. It was suspicious but that is for another day. "I think our hacker is staying at a motel." Bex told us pointing ahead. We all had comm units in our ears where the 4 senior agents on this mission were listening. They also had a visual of our location at all times. We were taking every precaution possible without it being too suspicious that the CIA would intervene.

Bex, Macey and I stormed into the motel. Leaving Liz behind seemed like the better option. That way she could bring the car and we could make a fast retreat. I just hope it doesn't come down to that. Preston volunteered to stay with her.

No one was at the desk in the lobby so Macey went over it and just like that we had access to their computer. From what Liz told us the person would most likely be on the first floor. "Anything yet?" I asked scanning the perimeter. "I think I found something." Her eye brows were furred together I confusion. "Our hacker is renting a room under one of my aliases."

"That isn't shocking, they probably hacked into every one of our files." Solomon reminded us. I almost forgot we were on comms. I didn't have time to slack off.

I saw a blur in the corner of my eye. I didn't hesitate. I ran after them. Bex and Macey went in the other direction to cut them off. "We have eyes on the suspect and are in pursuit." Macey shouted into the comms unit. Instructions were being shouted into my ear yet all I focused on was the person a few feet away from me.

I was so close. All I needed was to go faster. The thought of Cammie hurt gave me the boost I needed. I tackled the person to the ground. They were male judging from their broad shoulders and build. I pinned them to the ground and told the others I got the perpetrator on the south side of the building. Bex and Macey made it there too late. I already turned him around to see his face. I wanted to have them to know that its over, we won. We found him and soon we would find Cammie.

"It can't be" I thought out loud. Macey and Bex came around. They gasped when they saw who it was.

"What who is it?" Preston asked breaking our silence. "Its Jonas" I informed him grimly.

"Who the hell is Jonas?" I forgot he didn't know about Nick, Grant or Jonas. "Get back into the car, and come back to our house, we will do our debriefing there." Rachel told us in a stern voice that left no room for discussion.

We followed her instructions, binding Jonas after quickly searching him and driving away silently. I thought he was my friend, he and Liz dated a while ago. How could he do this to us? Liz didn't even spare him one glance since we brought him in.

I really wanted to interrogate him. Maybe we could guilt trip him into telling us information. And if that doesn't work there is always punching him and truth serums. I need to hit something and get all of my frustrations out. If he is stubborn I just might not hesitate to take action.

"Finally we were starting to think you guys got lost." Abby says dragging us inside and roughly shoving Jonas in the process. She led us to the living room where Solomon was standing with his arms crossing looking menacing, Townsend was setting up a chair in the middle of the room while Rachel was typing at the computer.

"We searched him on the way here and he blindfolded him so he has no idea where we are right now." Solomon nodded in approval. Bex and Macey dragged him to the chair where they restrained him, the last thing we needed was for him to run off. It was finally time for answers.

Macey started asking questions before she ripped off his blindfold. "Why did you hack us?" Jonas squinted trying to get used to the lighting but other than that he said nothing. Bex stepped in, "Tell us where Cammie is. NOW!" She even slammed her hand on a table for emphasis.

"We can do this the easy way or the hard way." Abby told him.

"I have a question that anyone can answer, who is he?" Preston asked us. I keep forgetting about him. "I thought he was a friend of mine but I was mistaken. We went to Blackthorne together and we met the girls during our exchange at Gallagher." That was the short version. "Now since that is cleared up we can go back to interrogating him." Bex said impatiently. I couldn't blame her for acting that way, I felt the same. We were so close.

"I'm not saying anything." He spoke up.

"Can't or won't" I asked. He wouldn't answer me. So I punched him. "That was for Cammie." I rubbed my fist. "I can do this all day." Solomon was shaking his head. I was too angry to recall the lessons he taught me about interrogations.

"Stop it. Let me take over, if I can't crack him then we will inject him with the serum." That was Liz. She walked confidently to the middle of the room until she was face to face with Jonas. The first thing she did was slap him.

"Cut the crap and tell us what we want to know Jonas. I know how you think, we worked together and we dated once. Now tell me before things have to get ugly." Even I was intimidated. I think I saw Jonas shrink back into his seat. He stayed quiet for a minute in which Liz took the sringe and held it up threateningly. "Don't think I won't do it. I am getting answers one way or another." She did have a point. We were wasting time, I needed to know where she is. I sick and tired of being denied the truth.

"I can't say anything." he said in a low voice. "If I say anything they would hurt her." He added with a whisper.

"Hurt who?" Preston asks but the answer is obvious. Clearly its someone he cares a lot for like a girlfriend or a family member. And since I know he hasn't been in contact with his family for years it has to be a lover.

"My girlfriend Elena. They said if I didn't do what they asked they would kill her. I didn't want to hack into the CIA and target you guys. I love her and I don't want any harm to come to her." I understand what he was saying but unfortunately I am a little too late for that.

"Who is threatening you?"

"I don't know." He avoided eye contact and looked at the floor. It was clearly evident that he was lying. "We can protect you and we can protect Elena." Rachel reassured him. Did we have enough resources for that? There was barely any of us as it is.

"You are close to who it is." Jonas told us cryptically. My first thought was of the director. We are close to him at work. But if that does prove to be true, what is his motive? Motive is everything.

"Do you know where Cammie is?" My mentor asked him sharply. He swallowed before looking up at Solomon. "She is in England now, or at least she was a few days ago. The group travels to try to elude the authorities, they have to with their captives."

"You mean Cammie and Luke right?" I said trying to clarify what he was saying. He was being so vague and aloof unlike the person I used to know and work with. Jonas shook his head, "I can't say anymore. I told you too much, I can't risk them hurting her." He barely said 100 words, all of them cryptic. Why do we always end up with more questions after getting answers?

"Zach come with me to the other room." Joe said, not even bothering to ask. I complied, hopefully he picked up on something I couldn't.

"We need to put a tracker on him. Something small so he wouldn't notice, do you know if Liz has anything?" He looked nervous, it was one of the rare times I saw him like that.

"Yeah she has this microscopic tracker that can go inside the person through the pores in their skin. I think we should keep him here and have someone watch over him while we split up and head to England for clues."

"That was my idea, you go and get Liz and her tracker while I will tell everyone else our next steps." And with that said we walked out of the room. I dragged Liz to a corner and told her what to do. She nodded and went over to reach into her bag. Liz looked like she was pulling something out but the tracker was so tiny it was invisible to our eyes. How she managed to pull it out, I have no idea. She dropped it on top of his head, I doubt he felt it. His eyes were closed and he showed no signs of knowing what we were up to.

"Rachel and Abby you are staying to watch over the boy. Everyone else is coming to England with us." There was no arguments are groans of disappointment. Rachel did look like she was going to protest, opening her mouth to say something before promptly closing it and nodding. We needed trained operatives to watch over Jonas if someone comes after him. Townsend needed to go to England because he is an M16 agent and Joe was going because he went unnoticed in England for months.

"I already have a flight for us that should be ready in half an hour at the airport." 30 minutes is all we need to get there. "When the CIA lost track of her, she was in France near the English Channel." That does make sense, they could have the resources to cross the water and move into the UK.

I realized as we boarded the plane that our research meant nothing. We got no leads or information from it. It was a huge time waster, the only thing that did get us to this point was Liz. She was able to find Jonas where we dragged him in to interrogate him. Jonas for sure told us more than what we actually found out.

A/N: Hey guys here with a late chapter =) Things have just been so busy in my life and now that school is upon us I have less time. I will try to update this story every week and Last to Know every 2 weeks but we will see how things turn out. Also I am planning out a couple of other stories thoroughly so that it makes it easier for me to write them later on.

Furthermore, Chapter 10 as tsanderson9 guessed is going to be in Cammie's pov which I am excited for.

Tell me what you guys think of this chapter. Leave a comment below telling me your favorite part and your predictions for what is going to happen in England. Thanks so much for all your support! -Zammie4life
