Chapter 12

Zach pov

My hands were tightened into fists held in front of me. We were fools for every thinking it would be this easy to escape. That pretty much sums up this entire mission in my mind. We plan, our plan fails and we end of being pressed up in a tight corner hoping to catch another lead to ending this damn mission.

I was the first one to attack. My fist went flying into another face. I didn't dwell on the fact that I probably broke his nose, there was no time to look back. I had to keep moving on, hitting one person after another. For every person I hit, three more took their place. They were all coming so fast after a while it was getting hard to keep up. We were outnumbered 5 to 1, that much was obvious.

Cammie and I were trying to hold up our ground as much as we could. But the fact of the matter was that we were both injured already. The guards had an advantage over us. They had strength in numbers. It would be a miracle if Cammie and I get out of here alive. It would be a miracle if we get out of here at all.

Cammie and I stood back to back fighting off as many goons as we could. Sometimes when we felt the other one losing the fight we would switch whoever we were fighting with.

I looked back constantly, needing to make sure Cammie was beside me. I turned for a split second but that was all it took. I turned around for a second too long because when I turned back I got hit in the face with the guy towering over me saying. "Getting tired pretty boy?" I growled and aimed a roundhouse kick to his stomach.

His statement made me realize that I was getting tired. How much longer could we keep this up? How long have we been doing this already? Ever since I woke up, my sense of time has been disoriented. I hoped we would get some backup soon, otherwise we are screwed.

I was in the middle of punching a guy in the rib cage when I heard a loud and sickening sound. I turned just in time to see Cammie struggling with the guy she was fighting. I was about to move to help her when I saw her being punched on the side of her head. I called out her name yelling out a string of curse words. She turned even paler and looked like she was going to pass out.

Two people approached her unsteady form with a syringe in their hands. It was probably a sedative. They want to take us out quickly. My vision turned red and I had a burst of adrenaline. I won't let them m harm her anymore. With that thought lodged in my brain I punched and Kicked my way over to her. She was unbalanced and still tried to fight off the people around her. She has always been a fighter.

When I got to Cammie the first thing I did was hold her in my arms, that way I knew she was safe. She tried escaping from my grasp but I whispered in her ear to relax. Holding in her in my arms and fighting off our captors was a challenge. The last thing I would want to do is give up. However from the way things were heading it looks like I might not have a choice.

I was receiving hits more frequently taking any blow that would insure Cammie not getting hit. I could feel her slowly losing consciousness in my arms. I was starting to fear what would happen to us the longer we stayed here.

As I was hitting the goon in front of me in the jaw, I saw a fast blur in the corner of my eye. I focused on the fight, they probably want me to look back to lose my focus that was already slacking. A fist came flying towards my face. I had no time to react, I stumbled back losing my balance for a brief moment. And the next thing I knew the same blur I saw moments ago was fighting off my assailant. I won't say that I wasn't grateful for the help, but who was that and how did they get here.

It was hard for me to get a good look at whoever was helping me. Either they were moving to fast or the last punch to my face is starting to make my vision blurry. I would bet its the latter. "Zach what are you doing?" The person shouted. The voice was the key to figuring out who it was, Bex. Another voice called out revealing Solomon was here as well. How they got here was beyond me, but I am not complaining. Bex and Solomon being here helped even the odds, even if it was just a little.

"Do you have a plan to get out of here?" I asked them trying to regain my vision. The goons were less focused on Cammie and me right now and were mainly attacking Bex and Solomon. "Make sure Cammie is ok!" Solomon yelled fighting two guys at the same time.

That made me come to my senses. I shook Cammie a little, her eyes were closed. She moved and opened her eyes slowly. "Cammie I know your head is hurting but I need you to do me a favor. Can you stay awake for me? I need you to keep your eyes open until we get out of here." I explained to her slowly. She nodded leaning onto me for support so she could stand up by herself.

"Zach we are going to make a path for you to leave. We are going to be right behind you. They are waiting for you around the corner!" Bex shouted instructions to me in Scandinavian. I nodded and started pushing my way through the exit. Bex and Solomon somehow ended up in front of us to fight off anyone who stands in our way. I don't want to leave them behind, but this was our only chance of getting out alive. Plus, they out of all people would be able to get out of there.

"Cammie on the count of three start running." She grabs my hand. I can't tell if its from her lack of strength.

"One."

"Two."

"Three." We started bolting in the direction of our salvation. For almost passing out a while ago, Cammie was surprisingly fast. We were so close when I felt Cammie's hand in mine jerks away. I turned instantly and saw one of the fallen morons grab her arm. She struggled against his grip, punching and kicking him relentlessly. He didn't budge. I ran to get her back from his grasp.

I pulled her from his shoving her behind me. With all of the remaining strength I had, I punched the guy in the jaw. He fell to the floor in an instant. "Stay away from her." I hissed. Then I swiftly grabbed Cammie's hand again and started running off again. We were losing time.

"Wait Zach, we need to find Luke. He was the reason for this mission in the first place." Cammie told me slowing down. I sighed, there was no time for this. "We need to get out of here. My mission was to find you, we will find Luke once we get you out of here." I nudged her towards the exit without waiting for a reply. Once we get out of this, we will allocate our resources to locate Luke.

Before we left the building I turned around quickly to make sure Bex and Solomon were ok. Just as I expected, they were holding up fine. By the way they were headed, they should be out of here in a few minutes.

Just as Bex described, a familiar van was parked at the corner. I opened the door and placed Cammie inside doing a quick sweep over both of us to make sure there was no unwanted bugs or trackers. As I was getting into the car I could see a glimpse of the upper windows of the building. I saw a face smiling at us. I shook it off, it was probably just my eyes playing tricks on me. Instead I focused my attention on attending to Cammie's wounds as best I could with the supplies in the car.

Liz, Macey, Preston and Townsend were the only ones there. Along with Cammie, they were as quiet as a mouse watching me check her for any open wounds. I cleaned up the existing ones to a certain extent. Seeing all of her injuries, seeing all they have done to her makes me regret not hitting them hard enough. Next time I won't make the same mistake. And trust me, there will be a next time.

"Bex and Joe told me they were right behind us." I tell Liz breaking the silence. 5 minutes have passed and there was no sign of them. It made me wonder if things turned horribly. "Let me check their GPS." Liz proceeded to open her laptop and determine the location of the two red dots.

"According to their trackers, they have just left the building. They should be here in a minute." Townsend nodded and switched the gear of the car, the wheel pointed in the direction of the safe-house. The door opened and the two agents came rushing in. Townsend wasted no time in slamming on the gas pedal and rushing us out if there as fast as the car could take us.

A quick glance at Be and Solomon told me that they weren't injured too badly, just minor scrapes and cuts on their face and arms. Cammie sustained the most injuries out of all of us. Speaking of Cammie, she promptly fell asleep on my shoulder as soon as we got onto the highway. I was worried at first thinking she passed out, but Macey assured me that she was probably just exhausted. She's been through a lot.

"How did you guys get out of there?" I asked them as we pulled into the driveway of the safe-house. That question has bugged me the entire trip. It took Cammie and I so long to go half the distance we wanted, and they did the entire thing in less time and less injuries. "Get Cammie inside and we'll exchange information then."

I carried Cammie out of the car and into the house careful not to wake her up. She needed her rest. It was when I set her down on the couch that I realized she was here. Cammie was safe, she was in front of me. We escaped. We saved her.

"Zach let her sleep. Now come here and tell me what happened." My father told me. Everyone was gathered around the table waiting for me. I kissed Cammie on her forehead softly. "Sweet dreams Gallagher Girl."

I joined the group at the table. "So how did you get out of there?" I asked repeating my question from the car. "Truthfully, we don't know what happened. Once they saw you leaving they started going easy on us and even started retreating. Something happened between them. We were hoping you could fill in any blanks that could help."

"Maybe we should wake up Cammie." Preston suggested walking over to the couch where she was sleeping. I stepped in his way. "No one is waking her up now. She needs to rest and someone to tend to her injuries. I only did so much in the car." Macey stood up and volunteered. I thanked her and told her I would take over once this debriefing was done.

"Zach's right. Now can we get back to the matter on hand." Bex says putting her hands on her hips. "They did not hold back on us at all. Before you guys came it was horrible, we were barely holding up." I took a deep breath. I kept thinking about the face I saw in the window. It could have been nothing but now I'm starting to think differently. "However as we were leaving I saw something in one of the windows. I saw a face in the window smiling at us as we moved to the corner of the block to the car. I thought it was nothing, now I'm not so sure."

"We need to call Abby and Rachel." I say. Solomon rushes over to the phone, bringing it into the other room. "Liz go make sure there are no bugs or trackers of any kind on Cammie. Also preform scans on her head to make sure there was no lasting damage from getting hit on the head." Townsend takes control and starts ordering people around. Macey was helping preform the scans on Cammie. Preston and Bex were searching the car for any bugs and checking to see if surveillance cameras around the warehouse reveal anything.

That just left me. "What do you want me to do?" I asked him. He looked me straight in the eye and said, "Tell me everything you know." I sighed, this was going to take a while.

A/N: First off, I am so so so sorry about this long delay. I meant to update this story literally a month ago, but I was so busy over break and once school started again its just been weeks of constant testing. And the next two weeks are only going to get worse. I have midterms everyday for the next two weeks. However once they are over I am going to update a lot more.

Also I apologize if this is a horrible chapter, I wrote this in-between study secessions. The next chapter is going to be a lot more interesting when Cammie wakes up :) The next chapter is going to be up in two weeks, once my last midterm is over.
