Asher's POV

I stare at Thea laying on the bed with her eyes closed. Her face and body were covered in blood and ash from the explosion of the building but now it was all clean thanks to one of the chambermaids at the hotel. Her face was still pale and her body lost so much weight it's like she isn't there anymore.

She has an IV bag to give her glucose from the lack of water and food she consumed over the last few days. A thick white tube was connected to her mouth for tube feeding to get more nutrients in her body as well. If we hadn't gotten in there in time she could have died and she was damn too close to dying.

I would have left her if I had I had a choice but sadly I didn't have one. She is the key to finding the Tech and I need her to be alive or she's just useless to me.  I need to get the Tech before Walker or Black or anyone for that matter. I honestly could care less if they sold it to the black market or to armies but what will really bother me is if they use it against my company.

Call me selfish but I am no hero. Never was and never wanted to be. If I wanted to be one I wouldn't have taken my father's company and just got a job in the NYPD instead.

"Do you think she will be okay doc," Caleb asks.

That kid has been worried about her nonstop. Right, when we left her at the museum he has been worrying about her day and night. To a naive person, they would guess he carried a huge amount of love towards her but I know that wasn't the case. Yes, he did love her but not in the sense other's might view it.

"She has not eaten for about four days which caused her body to  break down its proteins in order to create fuel for all its systems. That protein comes from the destruction of muscle tissue, which is one of the tissues highest in protein in the body. Which resulted in her body basically giving up and the enormous blood loss did not help either. Thankfully her arm was not too infected to where we had to amputate her arm. All in all, she is quite a fighter. I don't think no one would have survived what she had gone through."

I will agree that she is a fighter. I expected her to break down from all the news about her mother granted she did but she quickly picked herself up like nothing happened. I admire that about her, people at her age don't have much of a tolerance level  before they break.

However, she still doesn't know everything her mother has kept away from her.  Her life is filled with betrayal and secrets that even I couldn't fathom.

"When do you think she will be able to travel and walk around again?" I asked the family doctor.

"I would giver her at least a week or two minimum. Also, I advise you to leave Russia and take her back to a quite place in New York. I know I said she shouldn't travel just about now but I think she needs to be somewhere other than here."

"She is still a wanted criminal," Leo interjects.

"We can take her back to the Cabin. No one will suspect since it's basically in the middle of nowhere," Raph suggested.

I nod my head. I get up from my seat and make my way out of the room.

"We leave today night," I said as I walk out of the door.

"Wait! Asher!"

I turn my head and notice Caleb running towards me.

"What?"

"Why are you so emotionless around Thea?"

"That is who I am Caleb and you of all people should know that."

"But you're hurting her Asher! If we could have saved her that night she wouldn't have been in this state! She's only human!"

"If we hadn't let her go then we wouldn't have found out who was responsible for the attack don't raise your voice at me!"

"She nearly died from the bomb we implanted! Which by the way was your fucking brillent idea!"

"No one would have gotten hurt if you guys got out of there in time! I gave you the precise time it would set off!"

"Both of you stop," Raph's voice boomed.

"Caleb you know how Asher is and he won't change his personality for a girl he just met," He said staring at Caleb.

"And you," He said directed a finger at me. "You're are a brother to me and I would gladly take a bullet for you but leaving Thea there that night was inhuman of us. We have known about this cursed Tech since the day we were born and were placed the stress in getting it out of the hands of Black and Walker. But Thea is new to all this Asher and I won't let you play with an innocent girl's life like it's a damn game to you!"

I glared at him and walked off. If it wasn't Raph I would have stayed and fought for myself but it was Raph. He is four years older than me and I respect that man like he was my own father but that didn't mean I had to agree with everything that he did.

What I did was right. Thea is nothing to me but a chess piece I have to use to get  to the King, the plans.

Two weeks.

Knowing Caleb he will probably be stubborn to not start back on the mission for another month.

If I waited two years for this. I surely could wait another few weeks.

Plus this is the perfect opportunity to do some research about Dr. Samantha Cahill.
