The memories of last nights 'almost mistake' has me feeling all types of ways. Mad at myself for not remembering something like that. Irresponsible. Scared. Everything.

"Are you going to get dressed?" Jackson asks, pulling up his pants. He told me that he wanted me to get dressed so that we can go to CVS and get pills, but I feel like somethings stopping me.

"Jackson," I look up at him from my position on my bed. "I don't know if this is a good idea."

"What are you talking about?" He shakes his head, looking down at me in confusion. "How can it not be a good idea? I could've gotten you pregnant-"

"I know," I shake my head. "But I've heard that the pulls can disrupt you ever getting pregnant. And I don't know about you, but if like to have kids in the future."

The thought of possible having this dream with Jackson invades my thoughts, but I quickly erase it. He barely wanted a relationship with me, why would he want to marry and have kids with me?

"That's if you're on it for a certain amount of time," he tells me, sitting down next to me. "We could always do the shot or something-"

"No, it's okay," I sigh, giving him a smile.

"You're scared of shots aren't you?" he teases making me blush.

"Shut up, let's go before my mom wakes up from her night of drinking," I tell him and change into a clean pair of clothes. We had taken a shower last night before we went to bed, so I throw my hair into a bun and follow him out to his car.

I wonder what Nikki is doing? Hopefully she's alright, I know how much Colten can get on her nerves so I just hope they didn't kill each other.

It doesn't take us long until we're walking into CVS. It has that horrible smell that makes me want to cover my nose, but of course that would be rude, so I don't. Antiseptic, rubbing alcohol, and stale products. Not the first thing I want to smell in the morning.

I walk us down the Parenting aisle that has pregnancy tests and such before picking up the tablets. Jackson stops me before I walk past him.

"You look upset," he stares down at me.

"I'm not," I assure him. "Just tired and I need food."

"You sure?" He raises an eyebrow like he doesn't believe me.

"Yes, Jackson," I smile, punching his shoulder. "Now let's go and get something to eat, please."

He laughs, but drags me to the counter and pays for the pills. I don't miss the weird look the cashier gives us as we purchase the birth control together. I want to fake lunge at her and see what she does. I hate when people look at me like that.

Jackson ends up getting us McDonald's, which I'm certainly not complaining about. I don't think I've had their breakfast since I was a kid and it tastes just how it used to. I got the hot cakes.

"I feel like we should've gotten Nikki something, too," I frown at Jackson as we throw away our stuff in the trash.

"Nah," he waves me off. "She'll probably won't be up for a few hours, it'd just go bad. Now go put something on tv while I change."

I nod and walk over to the couch, curling up with the blanket and switching through the channels for something to entertain us. I end up keeping it on Cartoon Network where it's showing Shrek the first.

Interesting fact about me, I love Shrek. Actually, any Dreameworks production I like. There's something about the animations that have me falling for them every time.

"Shrek?" Jackson laughs, snuggling up next to me as the movie just gets good.

"Yeah," I lean my head on his shoulder, kicking the footrest up so I'm more comfortable. "Don't you like it?"

"I like whatever you like," he presses a kiss to my head making me smile.
I nearly fall asleep from how tired and how amazing the movie is when I hear footsteps behind us.

"Hey," I greet Nikki with a smile as she makes her way downstairs looking extremely exhausted. "We were going to wake you, but we didn't know how late you stayed out."

"It's fine." There's definitely something wrong with her. My best friend never sounds this way; defeated. I want to ask her questions, but she walks away before I can. She'll tell me when she's ready, right?

•••

"Are you not coming to the party or...?" I lay down on Nikki's bed, my head hanging off the edge.

"Brittni," Nikki whines. "I really don't want to."

"But I want you to," I pout, sitting up. Fuck that, I'd rather stay in all night and hang out with her, but Jackson really wants me to come to the party tonight for some reason.

She narrows her eyes at me. "Why? It's not like you're going to be hanging out with me."

"That's not true," I scowl. I'd definitely rather hang out with her than Jackson's friends. Colten and James are okay, but the rest are really big headed and players.

"Uh yeah it is," She scowls back. "You'll be with Jackson the whole time and I'm not going to go just to be left alone."

"Fine," I glare teasingly at her, standing up. "Don't go, but you've been acting weird all day and I was trying to be a good friend and get you out of this funk."

It's true, Nikki hasn't been her normal self today and I have no idea why. I've stuck to the plan of letting her tell me on her own time, but honestly, it's getting hard. She's been really depressed and very monotone. She's just quiet.

"Will you actually hang out with me tonight?" She asks, looking at me expectantly.

"Of course," I nod. "We don't even have to go to the party if you don't want to. We can do something else."

"Really?" She asks.

"Yes, Nikki," I rolls my eyes making her laugh.

"Okay," She smiles. Finally! She's smiling. "Let's go up to the store and buy everything junk food and binge watch Teen Wolf."

"Thank goodness," I groan in excitement of getting out of that dreadful party. "I really didn't want to get dressed up."

I wait for Nikki to pull on a some warming clothing before we hop into my car. I blast the heat as soon as we get in because it's really cold tonight. It feels like winter weather, not fall. Freaking Michigan.

"When are you going to let me dri-" Nikki starts off, but I immediately shut her down.

"When you get your license," I cut her off, looking pointedly at her.

"You know," She tsks. "I can't get my license unless I practice."

"Oh you can practice," I nod giving her a sly smirk. "Just not in my car."

"But-"

"Why don't you ask, Colten?" I glance at her. "His car is the most beat up out of the three of us."

I can tell something about my last question does something to her, because she becomes really quiet and doesn't look at me. So this is about Colten? What did he do now? I swear, they're always fighting that you never know what he could've said to hurt her this time.

"I'm good." I really hope she doesn't go back to the way she was before, I hate seeing her like this. Whatever Colten did must've really gotten to her.

I let her have her space until I pull into Target, my favorite place to shop. I don't know what about the store that I like so much, but I just do.

"Always Target," Nikki grumbles and gets out of the car. Great. Now she's in a bad mood too.

"I thought you liked Target?" I question, shoving my hands in my hoodies pockets as we walk towards the entrance in the black night.

"I do," she sighs. "But I wasn't looking forward to being tempted by Starbucks again."

I laugh making her crack a smile. "I'll get you one."

"Thanks," she cheerfully responds, both of us heading into the direction of the candy aisle with a cart.

Gummy worms, gummy bears, Twizzlers, Starburst, Lifesavers, MilkyWay, War Heads and Jolly Ranchers. We also got pretzels and some spicy chips because we don't want to seem unhealthy with all the can't we got. Like this helps.

"I'm going to circle by the party to see if Jackson's car is there," I tell Nikki so she knows what's happening.

"Do you think he's not?" She asks. It's not that I think he's not, but he was acting very weird after I told him I wasn't going to the party. I had assure him could go without me, but I still feel like something is happening. Colten will be here, but he's single and will probably hook up with someone, so I don't trust him to make sure Jackson doesn't do anything stupid.

"No," I sigh. "I just want to see. He was acting a bit secretive this afternoon and - I'm just being paranoid, aren't I?"

"No," She shakes her head. "You're not. It's alright to go crazy girlfriend every once in a while."

I let out a soft laugh at her choice of wording. "Crazy girlfriend?"

"Yeah," She laughs too making me laugh even more.

"I think this is it," I says after a minute, slowly passing by the packed house. "Holy shit."

"What?" Nikki snaps her head towards her window. "Stop the car."

Don't have to tell me twice, I'm still shocked at the scene in front of me, but I wouldn't not stop to see what's going on. For now, all I can see is Colten. A crowd. But no Jackson.

Nikki and I start running towards the crime scene, both of us breathing hard and trying to get passed people.

"Colten!" That wasn't me, Nikki seems to have gotten very fierce when pushing through the mass of bodies. The circle of teenagers that are currently chanting on a raging Colten.

I need to call someone. Jackson. I don't know if he'll pick up, but I'll try anyway. Like I has thought, there is no answer. Why wouldn't he be answering?

"I don't know where Jackson is and he isn't picking up the phone," I panic, looking down at the two boys while trying to call my boyfriend.

This is absolutely crazy.
