On their second anniversary, Logan and Rory spent the weekend at Lorelai's newly acquired property in New Hampshire.  Colin had finally worn her down, and the Dragonfly Spa had a very successful first year.  He just couldn't sell it to anyone else.  he said it needed to stay in the family, and she and Luke were included in that family.  He tried to give it to her, but she wouldn't accept that offer.  So, he gave her a 'family discount'.  It was a very deep discount that didn't require another loan from Emily.  She swore to him that he'd receive a portion of the profits for years to come to make up the difference, but Colin said he wouldn't accept any additional payments.

Lorelai took Emma for the weekend, so the couple could enjoy some privacy.  She jumped at any chance to spoil the little girl.  Rory and Lorelai converted Rory's old room into a nursery, making it easier for her to be with her Grandma.  Now that Emma was old enough, Lorelai filled her with junk food and kid movies whenever she stayed in Stars Hollow.  She was determined to impart all of her wisdom onto the next generation.  She was a natural with kids and had been a great source of information for Rory when she and Logan were at a loss for what to do.  They did manage to figure out many situations on their own, but she was always there when they needed her.

New Hampshire had revealed itself, once again, to be magical.  There must be something in the water because Rory discovered she was carrying another child several weeks later.  They'd only been trying for about a month, and were thrilled to learn of the second pregnancy.  They'd wanted to give Emma a sibling, and hoped for a boy this time around.

When Emma was almost two years old, they were blessed with a  bouncing baby boy.  Lorelai couldn't believe that Rory was breaking the Gilmore rules: 1. Only one child. 2. Only girls.  Richard arrived ten days early, and nothing was the same for the new family of four.  Emily cried when she met him for the first time.  He had Rory's blue eyes and Logan's blonde hair.  Logan was ecstatic to have a boy, and Luke welcomed the addition of some testosterone.

Logan fully embraced his role as the doting, loving father to both children.  His parents were also very involved, which surprised everyone.  Things had been rocky for them for a few months after Emma was born, but they managed to make it over the hump and rekindle what they once had.  It helped that Mitchum retired, leaving Logan on his own at the top.

Logan worked hard at balancing work and home life.  He surrounded himself with extremely capable people, and often delegated to share the work load.  It was a foreign concept to Mitchum, but worked on the whole for Logan to relinquish some control.  Things ran smoothly and employees seemed to be happier and more productive.  Mitchum was impressed with Logan's leadership skills, even if they vastly contrasted his own.  It all led to a better home life for Logan, Rory and the two children.

Rory had finished about three-quarters of a rough draft of her book before Emma was born and managed to get it finished shortly after she arrived.  She'd pitched the book to several publishers, but everyone wanted to make it something it wasn't or wanted to change too many things.  While she knew she'd have to make changes, she didn't want to change the actual events of her life to make it more exciting.  Ultimately, she decided to stick with HPG, where she had more creative control over it.  Once the book was published, it went straight to the top of the best sellers' list.  She had offers pouring in for adapting it to the big and small screens.  Everyone wanted a piece of the hot, new author with a fresh story.  She knew it was too delicate to entrust script writing to a stranger, so, she called up Doyle.  He had become a rising star at HPG thanks to Logan's initial generosity and his own strong work ethic.  Together, Rory and Doyle put together a script for a pilot, thus starting a new division of HPG.  She didn't know if it would catch on, but hoped Gilmore Girls would be a big hit.
