Rory was slowly starting to stir and come back to me.  I felt some of the weight lift off my chest, but not all of it.  I still have no idea what was wrong or what was going on.  I held her hand tightly and touched her cheek as I watched her coming to.

"Ace?  Ace, are you in there?" I said, hoping she'd recognize my voice.

She stared at me, and started looking around the room.  The paramedics made their way to where Rory was on the floor.  She looked like she wanted to say something, but couldn't.  They started an IV in her arm.

"Wha....wha.....what happened?" she finally stuttered.

I was so relieved that she was able to speak.

"You passed out.  Now, don't worry, we'll get you checked out at the hospital," I replied.

The paramedics moved her for transport to the ambulance.  They told me they thought she was ok, but they were taking her to the hospital as precaution.  I told Lorelai to meet me at the hospital because I was riding with Rory.  I climbed into the back of the ambulance.

"I'm right here, Ace, and I won't leave you," I said to her as I held her hand.

"Logan, please tell me more about what happened," she pleaded.

"I'm not exactly sure.  We were kissing and then you fell to the ground.  I tried to rouse you to no avail.  You were breathing, but unresponsive.  You were muttering something, but it was inaudible.  At some point, your mom called 9-1-1.  I was so scared, Rory.  I didn't know what to do, and I felt so helpless with you lying there," I explained.  "Now, we are going to get you checked out....and the baby."

Rory looked like she was about to panic at the mention of something being wrong with the baby.  I gently touched her face and cradled her cheek in the palm of my hand.

"You're in great hands, Ace.  You and the baby will be just fine.  We'll confirm it at the hospital, ok?"

She nodded her head, and seemed to relax a little.  I hated seeing her like this and being so helpless.  A few minutes later, we arrived at the hospital, where we were brought to a private room, just like my dad had arranged.  I helped Rory out of her dress and into the standard hospital garb.  They did a thorough examination and took blood samples.  The doctor brought in an ultrasound machine just to make sure the baby was ok.  I held her hand while the doctor took some measurements.  We watched the baby moving around on the screen and could hear the heartbeat.  Just like the first time, it brought me great joy.  It started to feel like an eternity before we'd meet this small wonder.

"Everything looks good with your pregnancy.  We'll have to wait until the blood panel is done, but I don't see any reason we can't release you tonight," the doctor said.

I shared the relieved look Rory had on her face.  There was a knock on the door.  Lorelai popped her head in the room.  "Are you ok, hun?  I brought you some comfortable clothes to change into.  I figured you didn't want to put the wedding dress back on."

"Looks like everything is ok, Mom.  Thank you for bringing these!  You are a lifesaver!" she said and took the suitcase from her.

"You can go ahead and change back into your clothes if you'd like," said the doctor.  "I'll be back shortly with your test results."  The doctor leaves and Lorelai follows, leaving us in the room alone.

Rory quickly changed and sat back on the bed.  I pulled the blanket over her, as they had brought a pre-warmed blanket for her.  My phone buzzed in my pocked and I checked to see who was messaging me.  It was from Finn.  It seemed they were concerned about Mother.

"The guys would like to come back to check on you.  Are you up for it?" I asked.  "They are very adamant about it."

"Of course they can come back," she replied.

Robert, Colin, and Finn file into the room.  The guys looked very concerned about Rory's well-being.  Over the years, we'd grown into a family, and she was their mother hen.  Even in college, she'd always made sure everyone was taken care of, especially when the drinks flowed freely as they had on so many nights.

"Rory, you gave us quite a scare!  I was worried you weren't going to wake up," Finn stated.

"Thankfully, you were talking, but it was hard to understand," Colin said.

"I was having the most vivid dream.  At least, I think it was a dream.....it felt so real," she replied.  "Finn, you were there and so where you and you," Rory said looking at Robert and Colin.  "You were also there, Logan.  We were having one last adventure.  You guys kidnapped me and Logan, and took us back tot he inn Colin bought in New Hampshire.  We were blindfolded and had no idea where we were going.  To top it off, you guys were wearing gorilla masks.  I could tell because of the muffled voices.  It was a sweet, sentimental gesture.  We were very touched."

"Ace, we could still make that happen.  Maybe not tonight, but in the future.  You still own the place, right, Colin?" I said as the wheels in my head started turning.  Maybe I could pull something together for the honeymoon, I thought sneakily.

"I do, although, I don't know why.  It's not as if I really need it.  Anyone want an inn in New Hampshire?" Colin said.

"Funny, that's exactly what you said in my dream, too!" Rory said.

"Whoa!  Now, you're starting to freak me out, Rory," Colin replied.

"I think you should talk to my mom about it, Colin," Rory recommended.

"So, you were dreaming about us?  Hmmmm...." Finn joked and smiled.

There was a knock on the door, and the doctor came in.  "Could you gentlemen please excuse us for a few moments?" The doctor elicited a great deal of laughter from the guys, which confused the doctor.

"Rory, it seems the cause of your episode was due to hypoglycemia, or low blood sugar," the doctor said.  "I'm going to recommend you keep an eye on this as it could lead to other issues during your pregnancy.  It's not anything to be overly concerned about, but continue to monitor to avoid further issues.  We are going to send this information to your regular doctor and together, you can determine a plan of action.  Do you have any questions?"

"No, that's pretty clear to me," she replied.

Thankfully, it was not anything major, but how in the world had Rory forgotten to eat?  The first thing I planned to do when we get home was hire a personal chef.  I doubt she'd be opposed, but I wanted to make sure we didn't have to worry about eating.

"We'll get the paperwork going to discharge you.  Take care of yourself, Rory," said the doctor, closing the door on the way out.

"I can't believe I hardly ate today, Logan.  Me?!  There were so many things going on that it didn't even occur to me," she confessed.

"Ace, you, of all people, know the power of food!" I chastised in a loving way.  "We'll just have to keep an eye on your eating.  Maybe we should consider a personal chef?  We can discuss this more at home.  Let's get your things together and get out of here.  I've already dispatched the guys to gather our things from Emily's and meet us at the helicopter.  Your mom is going to take care of everything else at your grandma's.  There's nothing to worry about.  We'll get you home for a good night's rest."

"Perhaps the personal chef isn't such a bad idea.  I definitely do not want to end up in the hospital or have other complications.  I'm just so much more forgetful lately.  Home sounds like a good plan!"

Once we got Rory's discharge papers, we gathered up her things and walked out to the waiting room.  We found Lorelai and Luke waiting for us.

"So, kid, what's going on?"

"Hypoglycemia, of all things," she replied sheepishly.

"Low blood sugar?  How are you my daughter?" she joked.  "But seriously, you need to make sure you're taking care of yourself!  It's very important.  It's not just you anymore.  You've got your very own loin fruit growing in there!"

"I know, Mom.  Thank you for taking care of things back here.  I really appreciate it!  Guess you are never too old for your mommy!" Rory said smiling.

"Thanks, again, for helping out Lorelai and Luke!  We are going to head back home tonight.  The guys are meeting us at the airport," I said.  I always knew this was an amazing group of people, but they continue to prove themselves time and time again.

I gathered her things.  She hugged Luke, then her Mom.  "I love you, Mom," I heard her whisper.  I escorted her to the front entrance, where the car was waiting to take us on a short ride to the airport.

I couldn't believe the amazing love we felt today despite things going wrong.  Even my family was genuinely kind and helpful.  I'd never seen that side of my parents before.  Rory wasn't in any major trouble, and neither was the baby, so things were starting to look up.  I wasn't sure if we'd be heading to Hamburg, but I'd leave that to Rory, and play it by ear.

Once the car arrived, we got in and headed to the airport.  We pulled up next to the car with the guys in it.  Finn got out of the car and into ours.  He hugged Rory without saying a word.  Of all my friends, he cared for her the most.  I knew if something were to ever happen to me, he'd be there for Rory and the baby.  I gave him a nod and smile before he left.  The driver transferred our stuff from the other car, and we were off to the hangar.  I helped Rory board first, and then boarded the helicopter myself.  A few minutes later, we were headed for home.
