Chapter 422 - This Must be Real Love (1)

Zhong Yi's lips twitched. She knew that Ren DongZhi was from a well-off family. She could tell that from the way he normally dressed. But him being able to secure resources like this meant that he was from no ordinary family. When she recalled how she thought he was asking for unspoken favor earlier, Zhong Yi only wished that she could transmigrate back and kill her old, crazy self.

She felt that her cheeks were burning but she pretended that nothing was going on. "This is a very good opportunity. Do your best and don't let Director Gu down."

She felt that her cheeks were still burning some even after she had walked out of the office. Zhong Yi had a good memory and she recalled what Ren DongZhi had once said.

"I know that you are not the kind who'd expect unspoken favor from the candidates. That being said, I would be very happy if that happens."

No way...

Zhong Yi wasn't sure how she was feeling at the moment. She felt a sort of achiness mixed in with a hint of sweetness.

"Sister Zhong."

A voice pulled her back to reality. Zhong Yi recollected herself and saw Liu Gao, a singer who she had signed just a little while ago. He was a few months younger than her and had always referred to her as Sister Zhong. Liu Gao had debuted a while back and had been popular for a while as well. Later on, as he refused to play along and attend banquets, he had been blocked for a few years and felt straight to an 18th-tier singer. Zhong Yi decided to sign him on after she learned of the incident. She had been looking for work for him as well and had him sing an opening song for a show on satellite television.

"What's the matter?" asked Zhong Yi.

Liu Gao smiled and said, "I just want to say thank you for the opportunity that Sister Zhong had provided for me."

Zhong Yi comforted him some. "Work hard. Opportunities are for those who work hard. Your opportunity will come." She had a lot of faith in Liu Gao.

With the interruption from Liu Gao, Zhong Yi's romantic idea was suppressed all over again. She was responsible for the future of many and she had no room for errors.

Ren DongZhi expressed that his inspirations only came late at night, so he would stay behind composing when Zhong Yi had to work late. Zhong Yi would review contracts and type away on her keyboard in guitar music.

When she felt uncomfortable during that time of the month, Ren DongZhi would have hand warmers ready for her before she even noticed it herself.

He always had the type of gummies that she liked in his pocket and would hand them to her when she had low blood pressure when she forgot to have breakfast occasionally.

Zhong Yi wasn't a stone. Instead of sweet nothings, fresh flowers, and luxurious cars, she had much less resistance to these kinds of tender caring. The atmosphere between the two became more suggestive.

As his agent, however, it was difficult for her to overcome the mental hump of dating the singer that was under her wing. At the same time, Director Gu's science fiction movie was a big hit and reset the box office records a few times after it aired.

It was the second best domestic movie in Chinese history. As the singer who sang the theme, opening, and closing songs, Ren DongZhi's popularity had also shot up to the highest point and he became a top-tier singer.

He rode that train and released his new album. That, too, was a big hit and had set all sorts of records.

Zhong Yi followed up with that and arranged a domestic concert tour for Ren DongZhi.

At their final stop, however, the stage had collapsed, causing Ren DongZhi to fall. It was not serious but he still needed to rest up for a month. As he had been busy for a while, Zhong Yi considered that a temporary time off for him. She transferred part of her responsibilities to someone else and freed up the time to take care of Ren DongZhi. And, at the same time, started looking into the cause of the accident.

Chapter 423 - This Must be Real Love (2)

Zhong Yi felt her heart gripped when she saw him falling down. The exact same way that she felt when her grandmother had declined surgery back then because she didn't want to become Zhong Yi's burden.

That was when Zhong Yi realized that life was short and that nobody knew accidents could happen. It would be silly for her to not treasure the opportunity when she met the right person. She didn't want to regret her (in)decision.

Zhong Yi had always been a decisive person. Once she had made up her mind, she immediately let Ren DongZhi know of her thoughts.

Ren DongZhi, who thought this would be a long drawn-out process: ???

Was this some sort of a blessing in disguise?

Regardless, he would be an idiot to turn the opportunity down!

***

The two then started their lowkey dating. Nevertheless, no matter how lowkey the two were, two lovebirds were still easy to be spotted by those around them.

Ren DongZhi was just about to arrange for a time to introduce his girlfriend to his parents when pictures of the two of them today had been exposed. For-profit accounts leaked their photos and listed all the resources that Ren DongZhi had received since he had joined the entertainment circle that others had drooled over.

In between the lines, they suggested that Ren DongZhi only got to where he got to through unspoken favors and implied that Zhong Yi had given Ren DongZhi all the best resources to bring up her boyfriend. They sounded like they felt very unfair for the other actors under "Star of the Future".

The article riled up the netizens.

One of them was the top-notched singer and the other was an agent known to be fair. The resources that the other actors had received weren't bad but, when compared to the top-notched ones that Ren DongZhi had received, they all turned into poor little cabbages.

Ren DongZhi's album was produced by an internally acclaimed music producer when all of the others' ones were produced by domestic producers.

Ren DongZhi could sing for high-budget movies when the others could only sing for television shows.

The fans were infuriated. If not handled properly, this incident could very well affect the reputation and publicity of their company.

Before Zhong Yi could make a move, all of the resources who had reached out to Ren DongZhi in the past spoke up.

Director Gu snickered on Weibo. So what if he had his own nephew sing for his movie?

Ding An, the top-notch producer, said that Ren DongZhi was his alum and he did that for him because of their friendship.

The National variety show host stood up to say that Ren DongZhi was the neighbor's child that he had known his entire life and that he had pro-actively invited Ren DongZhi to be on the show.

The announcements of all the big shots bring Weibo to its knees for an hour.

The netizens' chins dropped to the ground: Nobody had expected an attraction of resources had been hiding within Star of the Future. Saying someone like that needed to offer unspoken favor would be the biggest joke of the year!

Then, recalling how Ren DongZhi, with his family background, had given up on all the big companies but insisted on signing with Zhong Yi who, at the time, was unheard of. The netizens came to the same conclusion instantly: This must be true love! There was no other explanation other than true love. As for the others who were bitter, nothing said they couldn't bring in their own resources.

That was the true turning of the table.

Zhong Yi deleted the script that she had been working on. She had an idea that her boyfriend had some sort of a background but she didn't realize how extraordinary his background was. What hurt her the most was the fact that Liu Gao was the one who released the photos. Liu Gao had always been unhappy that Ren DongZhi had better resources than him and felt even more unjust after finding out the relationship between Ren DongZhi and Zhong Yi. He couldn't get it out of his mind and finally made a mistake.

Zhong Yi could no longer work with him even if he regretted his actions now.

She turned toward Ren DongZhi and asked, "Anything else about your background that I should know about?"

Ren DongZhi cleared his throat. "Well, actually, my family has a few movie theater lines as well."

Zhong Yi, "..."

Exactly what kind of a boyfriend had she gotten herself?

Ren DongZhi held her hands and pulled out a photo. In the photo was a fair and chubby little boy. One could see from his features that he looked a lot like Ren DongZhi.

"You've told me before to look carefully and find someone worthy of my feelings next time.

"And, now, I have found her."

Holding her hands tightly, he never wanted to let her go.
