Chapter 136 - She Could Not Possibly Share the Inside Story With the Outsiders (1)

Many of the businesses that Li WangJin had contacted earlier had also reposted his Weibo message in an effort to increase his traffic and exposure. The hotness of the topic continued to rise.

Li WangJin happily opened up a treasured bottle of red wine as he saw the trend. Two glasses of wine later, he was a little elated. He dug out Fang JunRong's phone number and tried to call her – he was still blocked. He would have been enraged in the past, but he was in a very good mood right now and decided against being petty with her.

He pulled out another cellphone and called her. Twenty seconds later, he heard his ex-wife's voice which he hadn't heard in a while.

"Hello?" Her voice was evenly keeled and seemingly very relaxed as usual. It was as though nothing could possibly happen that would make her reveal her weaknesses. He never liked her attitude much in the past, and now he looked forward to making her break a sweat.

"JunRong, it's me."

There was a hint of mockery in Fang JunRong's voice. "You didn't do half bad. You've turned quite a few employees against me."

Li WangJin was happy. "They know what's best for them. It's everybody for themselves. Doesn't that only make sense? Besides, I've always had the formula since before our divorce. I am only just now starting with the production, that was all."

Li WangJin couldn't possibly admit to corporate espionage, so he'd have to insist on having possession of the formula since before the divorce. He didn't want to go to court with Fang JunRong over this.

"You've been away from the business world for too long and you no longer belong in it. I am only teaching you a lesson because we were once a couple. Monopoly is not a good thing in the business world."

Just look at Fang JunRong. She held onto everything and wouldn't even let a little bit of profit slip through the cracks for others. Once an opportunity arose, others would come diving in. The reason he was able to have so much publicity today was partly the water army that he hired but also partly all the other companies who were willing to give him a slight nudge.

They'd naturally side with Li WangJin over Fang JunRong who had monopolized the entire market.

He wanted to say more, but he heard the dial tone; Fang JunRong had already hung up.

When he tried to call back, he noticed that his number was blocked.

Li WangJin pictured how Fang JunRong was flustered from anger and felt that much of the discontent that he had been feeling a while back had been alleviated. He posted another message on Weibo.

[888 yuan for a box of Cherry Blossom Pills on the day of Shopping Festival. 50% off on all orders placed ten minutes before midnight. 70% on all orders placed before 12:30 AM.]

After he had posted it, he had refreshed it a few times. Certainly there were those who called him an awful person, but there were more comments praising him for how generous he was. Li WangJin liked a few comments that he found pleasing and went to bed, content.

***

Fang JunRong, whom Li WangJin thought was very upset, was in a pretty good mood right now.

She hadn't expected that Li WangJin and Zhang Bi would be so bold as to launch a million boxes all at once on the day of the Shopping Festival. They were not worried that they'd lose their pants. And they were unusually confident in their version of Beautify Pills.

Li WangJin had made so much fuss that many of those who were close to her had called to ask about it and some even called to comfort her.

Truth was, Fang JunRong was in a pretty good mood. As she could not possibly share the inside story with the outsiders, she could only muddle it through.

As for the few companies who had sided with Li WangJin, she had blacklisted them all. She would never work with them again, ever.

Her fingers bent, and she drummed on her desk.

Chapter 137 - She Could Not Possibly Share the Inside Story With the Outsiders (2)

She could tell that the mood was down when she walked into the office the next day. The incident of Li WangJin launching the Cherry Blossom Pills had affected her employees to a certain extent.

Unlike their Beautify Pills, where 10% off was the most they were even given, the Cherry Blossom Pills would be launched with steep discounts. If the two truly shared the same formula, the customers would doubtless go for the cheaper option.

If their company failed to handle the situation properly, they worry that any accomplishments they've achieved prior to this would only be paving the road for their competitor.

Manager Yao of Marketing came to Fang JunRong. "Boss, do we need to launch some kind of campaign as well?"

Their company could remain stuck up before because they were almost in a monopoly situation. Not everybody could get their hands on Beautify Pills even if they could afford them. The move made by Li WangJin had certainly rattled them.

Customers would leave them for him if they didn't do similar campaigns.

"If we give discounts, they'd only increase their discounted amount."

"But..."

Fang JunRong lifted up her hand and said to her, "Don't worry. Calm down. We don't need to race to the bottom with them."

Seeing how confident Fang JunRong was, Manager Yao bit her lip and said, "Okay, I believe in you."

She had no other options other than believing in Boss Fong at this point. She left with a worried look.

Fang JunRong lowered her head and returned to her documents. She probably wouldn't get any work done today. Someone else came to resign shortly thereafter.

It was the deputy chief of Technology.

"I apologize, Boss Fang. Something is going on at home and I need to resign."

Fang JunRong gave him a look and said mildly, "I seem to recall we pay you quite handsomely, but it seems like Li WangJin can offer more. I wish you luck in your future endeavors then."

Deputy Chief Sun was taken aback a little. A look of discomfort flashed through his face as he said, "That's not it."

He thought Fang JunRong would say something else, but she merely accepted his resignation letter and said to him, "Okay, just finish up the transition in the next couple of days."

Under normal circumstances, resigning required a one-month notice period, but judging from the way Deputy Chief Sun looked, he probably wasn't in the mood to stay for the entire month nor did Fang JunRong feel comfortable with him. Might as well just let him leave sooner rather than later.

Looking at her reaction, Deputy Chief Sun left his resignation behind and took off.

He wasn't the only one. A few more put in their resignations with Fang JunRong after him.

Fang JunRong seriously suspected that Li WangJin was the one urging them from behind. Otherwise, they wouldn't all resign on the exact same day. This was probably Li WangJin's way to send her a message. He just couldn't help himself.

Truth was, she was appreciative of Li WangJin's move. Now he had helped her cleanse out all the spies in her company.

She pursed her lips and approved all of the resignations. They all resigned voluntarily, so she would not need to shell out any severances. That saved quite a bit for the company as well.

After all these employees had transitioned off their work, Fang JunRong, too, had completed collecting the evidence. All these employees who were leaving to go to Li WangJin's had more or less sold the company's trade secrets. A few of them were even the key players in helping Li WangJin in obtaining the formula for the Beautify Pills. Although part of the reasons that they were able to obtain the formula so easily was because of Fang JunRong's behind-the-scene effort, she still frowned upon such behaviors.

She had treated them very nicely. With how popular the Beautify Pills were, the company even gave out bonuses intermittently.

All she could say was, not everybody would have Kong LiLi's kind of integrity. To each their own.

Looking at all the evidence that she had collected in the last few days. She would be contacting the cops in the next few days. As many trade secrets as they had stolen, none of them would be spared. She'd dish out some popularity for Li WangJin as well. He had always been leeching off of hers, it was time for some repayment. Besides, the higher one stood, the farther one would fall.

What happened to her in her previous life had taught her to be patient.

Chapter 138 - She Could Not Possibly Share the Inside Story With the Outsiders (3)

Li WangJin had opened up the link for pre-order of the Cherry Blossom Pills as he watched from the backend the numbers continued to climb. It was like looking at countless money dancing in front of his eyes.

He had hired many water armies in the last few days to lead the trend that the Cherry Blossom Pills and the Beautify Pills shared the same formula and differed only in their names. Judging from the number of pre-orders, many believed in it.

Except that still wasn't enough. He wanted even more!

Li WangJin's cellphone rang and he picked it up. It was a call from the wife of Luo ShaoCheng. Luo ShaoCheng was one of the many employees that he had recruited from Fang JunRong's company. Luo ShaoCheng worked in Production previously at Meifang Corporation. He contributed a lot to Li WangJin's getting his hand on the formula.

His wife was crying over the phone that her husband had been taken away by the cops.

Li WangJin comforted her nicely over the phone. He had been prepared for this.

"Don't worry. I will make some arrangements and buy off some people. Even if he had to go to jail, he won't be there for long. I will still pay you the 10 million yuan that I have promised and an extra 1 million yuan for every year he has to spend in jail."

Luo ShaoCheng's wife calmed down quickly under the reassurance of money.

Li WangJin had warned them beforehand that this could happen and had further promised that he'd compensate them handsomely should that happen. He trusted that these individuals knew what they could or could not say.

After receiving a few similar calls, he rubbed his temple. Fang JunRong was moving faster than he had expected. Nevertheless, none of what she was doing now would affect him any. His reputation had long been ruined. Adding another corporate espionage wouldn't make that much difference. He could not be arrested as long as there was no evidence. Netizens all tend to be forgetful. As long as he could bring them better benefits, they would quickly switch sides and root for him.

His ex-wife was still too naïve.

He quickly gave the order to pay for a most trending list topic of "Fang JunRong suing Li WangJin for illegally obtaining proprietary information".

He then looked for a new cellphone and sent another text to Fang JunRong.

[Thank you for helping me save on advertisement costs. You are such a nice person.]

However Fang JunRong had treated him in the past; he'd repay her principal plus interest.

"OMG! Unbelievable! Scum like that does not deserve to live!"

Inside of their dormitory, Yang MeiHua started shouting at the monitor. A series of insulting words came out of her mouth, and her face was flushed. Her eyes were widened. She was extremely agitated.

Her roommate, Xu YuQi, was lying on the top of the bunk bed and playing on her cellphone as she applied her face mask. Hearing Yang MeiHua's angry voice, she poked her head out and asked, "What's the matter? What have you seen online that had enraged you this time?"

Yang MeiHua was your everyday internet addict. Other than attending her classes, she'd say in her dormitory room surfing the web. All of the other girls in the room learned about the latest and greatest news on the web from her. When the story on Jiang YaGe leaked, she was also the first one who had informed them of it.

As she was typing away on her phone, Yang MeiHau said angrily, "That Li WangJin is so shameless. He stole the proprietary information from Fang JunRong's company. Such a shameless thief! All the discounts that he had been offering for his Cherry Blossom Pills, I thought he was just doing that on purpose to leech the popularity off of the Beautify Pills. I just found out that it was pirated!"

That piqued Xu YuQi's interest. "For real? Did Li WangJin admit to it? He couldn't possibly be dumb enough to admit that, could he?"

Yang MeiHua harrumphed and said, "Boss Fang had taken a few of her former employees to court for stealing proprietary information. All of those employees had gone over to Li WangJin's company. He didn't admit to it, but he might as well have."
