T H I R D - P E R S O N

The rainy night's wind stirred around the limited folks walking around the empty streets of Bangalore. Usually, there are always people around but due to rain, there was rarely anyone walking down the lane. The huge bedazzled restaurant stood tall beside the other small cafeterias around. The crowd rushed towards the ceiling of the buildings to cover themselves from the rain pouring.

Sahar walked towards the ice cream parlour as the deluge cloudburst poured down her umbrella. She closed her umbrella standing just in front of the huge door of the parlour. She sighed and entered after getting jolted by a few folks.

Noticing that Izhaan was seated in the empty ice cream parlour, staring at his phone. She went towards him in hazy steps, still trying to ignore the scary urge to realise the truth or maybe there was a huge turn to the story. She stayed still in front of the table. When Izhaan noticed a presence of a person in front of him, he glanced up at her.

There were not many people in the ice cream parlour as it was raining, either they were in their homes dues to rain or standing inside a shed but no one inside that parlour except a two or three.

Within seconds, Sahar tried to sneak at the truth that was hidden in his eyes. She closed her eyes for a moment and opened them when he asked, "Is everything fine? What did you want to talk about in such a hurry?"

She sat down in the chair kept just in front of him and opened her laptop. The table was situated in the inner corner of the vast room. His brows clouded up in a curiosity filled knit when Sahar showed him the laptop. He questioned, "What is it?"

She gazed at him one last time before clicking the option play. As soon as the video started playing. The video played in front of him, but his eyes played with random emotions, nothing extraordinary. He looked up at her, "What about it?"

"What about it? You are asking me what about it when Falak Atif died?" Sahar asked with rage filling up in her veins. Startled at her sudden outburst, Izhaan glanced at her momentarily.

"You think that Falak Atif, this girl in this video is killed by me?" He asked making her confused more than she was. "It's evident, Izhaan."

He chuckled, "You and I grew up together for nearly 2 decades and you never knew my personality? It'd be a joke if you believe that I can kill."

She heaved a sigh before speaking, "What do you mean?"

"What do I mean?" He shook his head in a state of amusement which made Sahar a little confused about the story that stayed behind the murder of Falak Atif.

"Stop making me confused or dragging the matter to our emotions, Izhaan. Tell me the truth," she said. He closed the laptop when he noticed someone's presence behind Sahar, he quickly put it in her bag and slid his palm into hers. He quickened his pace towards the back door of the Ice cream parlour. The rapid astonishment made Sahar freeze with unknown emotions as he dragged her towards the end. She turned a little in a haste to notice that Shahveer was entering inside the arena with Miraal and Meesha.

They didn't notice Izhaan and Sahar. Izhaan and Sahar were out of the place. He moved her towards his car. "Stop it Izhaan!" She kept telling him to stop but he didn't. He opened the door of his car and made her sit inside. He went towards his side and sat inside.

She stared at him for answers. "Why did you run away from meeting Shahveer? Is it because of me that I know the truth?"

"For God's sake, Sahar! Stop fantasizing about things on your own. You never know what the person might have gone through."

"Your wobbly verbalism will not bring complete satisfaction to anyone. Nevertheless, it's time you should spit out everything," she yelled.

"You think I killed Falak?" He asks making her confidence shaky.

"My assumptions don't matter here. What matters here is the truth!" She states. "You want to know the truth? Then listen, Falak Atif did die that day and in front of me but it doesn't mean that I killed her."

"Was it an accident? Why did you hide the truth?" Sahar cried.

"Falak is my friend Sahar. She has been my friend for years. We met whenever I used to visit India for business meetings. This time when we are settled here. Falak and I used to meet often. She even knows about you and our relationship. That night when I was in a meeting in the Empire hotel. She was there, running away from someone."

Sahar listened to everything silently without interrupting as the whole truth started unfolding in front of her. Her heart bowled over listening to the veracity of the secrets. He continued,

"She called me asking about my location and came to me. She was a sweet and kind soul. I booked a room to meet her as she told me. When I met her, she was in very bad condition. Her perfect hijab was inappropriately settled, the smile which could win hearts was then replaced with an alarming fear."

He gazed at Sahar as he continued, "Sahar, you didn't see the first and last part of the CCTV."

"Where is it?" She questioned.

"It's with the killer herself," He stated.

"What happened that night? You are confusing me, Izhaan." She stared at him with fresh tears threatening to leave her eyes. He took in a deep breath.

"When I saw her, she was gripped with fear. Her every move screamed fear. She was shivering which made me feel goosebumps around."

"Who did it?" Sahar was bombing him with back to back questions. He answered, "It's all because of a girl who was obsessed with Shahveer."

"What are you saying?"

"Miraal Alam, Shahveer's cousin who killed Falak by mixing poison in her drink just because she felt insecure with Falak's close friendship with Shahveer. Everyone is unaware of her dreadful personality. Falak had told me numerous times that Shahveer was like an elder brother to her just like his brother Rayed was but Miraal's one step due to dubiety destroyed Falak's life."

Sahar gasped in shock when she realised what type of a girl Miraal was. "That night Falak asked me to write a suicide note...."

"Izhaan please try to understand," Falak begged with her voice shivering and her state was bewildered. Tears were not stopping.

"Do you even know what you are telling me? A suicide note for no reason is baseless, Falak." Izhaan yelled making her shiver as he tried to drag her out of the room but she didn't budge.

"No Izhaan. It's late, I have already eaten the poison. I am dying, please write a note for my brother that my death is for a different reason. I have no time and I don't want him to find out about anything." Falaq requested as fresh tears escalated down her cheeks.

"You are the only friend whom I can rely upon," she stated making Izhaan's eyes teary. "Stop saying things like that. We will find that antidote together. Nothing will happen to you. That Miraal will rot in hell. I'll make sure of it."

"You will not do anything. I did everything to save Rayed bhaiya. She said she will kill him if she gets exposed. Please write a letter that I loved someone. You can copy handwriting right? Please write it."

"Nothing will happen to you! I will not write such suicide notes or anything!"

He pushed her regardless of the scary emotions slurring down them but it was a light push. Falak hit the table's corner when Miraal hit her from behind which wasn't recorded in the CCTV. Resulting in making her dizzier and a slight cut which made blood ooze out of her head. Startled with his action, Izhaan went towards her, several tears gushed down his eyes. He checked her pulse and took her in his arms.

"What did you do? You rich spoilt brat!" Izhaan yelled hearing her chuckle. Glaring at Miraal, he went towards the door and tried opening it but it was locked from the outside.

"I beg you! Stop doing this. Falak has nothing to do with Shahveer. Please, let her go for god's sake. She sees him as her brother. Please tell me the antidote. Stop killing her for god's sake, Miraal!"

"Wait a minute! I am a rich spoilt brat, you said. How can I give you the antidote? Spoilt brats are supposed to spoil lives, aren't they?" She laughed like a manic as Izhaan begged.

"I will do anything, please let us go. Please!" He yelled feeling the fear of losing her friend built up inside him.

"You are of no use, either way, she is already dying. The poison is too heavy. Go to her and spend her last moments," she smirked. Before anything could happen, Falak called him with a stuttering voice, "Iz-haan."

Izhaan rushed towards her. "For god's sake. Please give me the antidote!" He yelled as frustration ran through his veins making him more restless than he was. "Please write the letter and take care of my brother. Tell him that I love him. Write t-to him that I l-loved someone. Thank you for be-ing m-y friend, Izhaan." she coughed as saliva strode down her lips, slowly closing her eyes. "Falak, don't!" He yelled when tears of agony dropped through his pale cheeks.

"Don't close your eyes for god's sake, Falak!" He screamed.

Helpless, restless, and blasting grievance was all he felt throughout his being. He checked her pulses and yes it was fluctuating, hence making her breathing stop. Gazing at Falak as she died just in front of him and he couldn't do anything. He cried holding her hand, closing his eyes as several tears gushed down his lashes.

"Feels so good to see you dying! I can't tolerate anyone being close with Shahveer." She laughed like a manic. Izhaan cried, not believing the fact that Falak died and she's no more.

"I will not leave you, Miraal!" Izhaan screamed when Miraal sat in front of him with a smile playing joyfully on her lips.

"Uh-huh... You can't do anything to me," she chuckled. "But look at you, burning like fire for your friend's death." Izhaan kept glaring at her with disgust lingering all over his eyes for her.

"I would have killed you now but I want to see you yelping in pain in remembrance of your dead friend. I am going to morph the footage of this place. If you go out and tried to expose me," she paused laughing like a manic. "Trust me, I will kill your whole family, Izhaan Hashir Ali!"

"...What do you expect me to do then Sahar? I was helpless. I still am helpless. I couldn't even tell anyone about it. I was trying to find that footage she morphed."

Sahar sat still in her place, trying to process everything he had just said. Her heart questioned if he would be lying.

"You might think I am lying but that's what the truth is Sahar. That's why I was scared to send you with Shahveer because Miraal will go to any extent to get Shahveer. I wasn't insecure but I was just scared to let you go that dungeon."

"But Shahveer doesn't love her," she stated making mere eye contact with Izhaan. "For her, that doesn't matter, Sahar."

Tears of pain left her eyes when she closed them not being able to handle to pain that Falak suffered. If only Miraal wasn't so obsessed with Shahveer. Her phone buzzed in vibration as a call showed up on the screen with his name displayed on the top, her heartbeat fastened crazily when she read the caller ID,

Shahveer.
