RYAN'S POV

The whole world was silent as I repeated what Landon had said over and over in my head.

Becca is gone.

Becca is gone.

Becca is gone.

Becca is gone.

My brain finally comprehended what was going on and I quickly wrapped my head around the horrible situation.

"What the fuck do you mean she's gone?" I screamed in his face and bound out of the room only to run directly into Mason who grabbed my shoulders hard and held me in place.

"We've looked everywhere Ryan. She isn't here," he stated firmly. "Let's go outside," he suggested and moved the entire group of us outside minus Alex who went to get Hannah whose red hair we could see bouncing on the dance floor.

"What the fuck happened." I was frantic and beyond pissed. Bentley and Kate came next to me and tried to calm me down but I shoved them off. "Where did you look?"

"Everywhere Ryan, we were looking when we ran into you – Johnny even looked in the neighboring yards." Mason explained. My hands covered my face and rubbed fiercely. I could already feel myself breaking down but I needed to keep it together. Landon reappeared by my side and laid a comforting hand on my shoulder.

"We'll find her Ryan. I told Alex to get Hannah so we know what happened." He was trying to keep his head on straight even though I knew he was freaking out too, we all were. I stepped slightly away from Landon and started pacing back and forth; taking turns clenching my fists at my sides and rubbing my face in exasperation. The second I saw Hannah it was like a switch flipped inside of me and pure rage came out. I stormed toward her and even her frightened expressions couldn't deter me.

"What the hell?! We told you to STAY TOGETHER! What the fuck happened to that!?" Landon pulled me away and Alex stepped protectively in front of a crying Hannah. "THIS IS ALL YOUR FAULT!"

"STOP IT!" Alex gave me a good shove and Landon tugged me back all at the same time so I ended up on the ground. I sat there, dropped my head in my hands, and completely lost it; I started sobbing loudly and uncontrollably because I didn't know what the fuck was happening. "Ryan..." my brother crouched next to me and peeled my hands away from my tear-filled face, "this isn't Hannah's fault okay? She didn't know. Can you please let her explain and not freak out at her?" I nodded along just bobbing my head up and down repeatedly. Soon enough, he helped me up and we walked down the road a bit so we weren't standing directly in front of the raging party. Johnny stayed behind to keep an eye out here – plus it was his house so he couldn't really leave, but he informed the rest of the footballers that weren't extremely drunk to scour the neighborhood for Becca.

"I'm so sorry Ryan I didn't know what was going on with Becca or that she was living with you guys..." I cut off Hannah's rambling.

"What. Happened."

"Becca needed to use the restroom so I walked with her upstairs but some man called her name. I don't think she heard him but I turned around since she was already in the bathroom. He said he was Becca's step-dad and that he and her mom had a surprise planned for her birthday and that you knew about it." I was walking back and forth in anger but listening to Hannah's story while she cried the entire time. "He said he'd wait for her and I should go tell you guys that he picked her up for the surprise... Alex just told me he's like evil," she was sobbing and barely able to talk, "I didn't know Ryan."

"We know, Hannah, it's not your fault," Alex knelt and held her close while wiping her tears. I wanted to yell at her that it was her fault. Becca was gone and it was all her fault... Landon pulled me away and faced me towards him.

"Ryan, it isn't Hannah's fault. You know that – rationally thinking, you know that." I nodded because I did agree but I needed somebody to blame besides myself.

"I shouldn't have left her alone."

"This isn't your fault either Ryan don't start with that crap," Landon stated harshly while shaking me a bit. "This is Kirk okay? I know you're scared and angry but you need to take a second to clear your head so we can figure out what to do alright?"

"We have to go to the cops," Mason said. "I know you guys said you couldn't but we have to take our chances now." Hannah had been crying in Alex's arms for the past few minutes but she jumped up when she heard what we were talking about.

"My dad's a cop!" I spun towards her fast as lightening – surely, he couldn't be one of the corrupt fuckers that worked with Kirk Logans.

"Is he home? Can I talk to him?"

"He's at work but we can go there – I'll call him on the way." I was the only one who hadn't been drinking but thankfully Mason brought his van and we all piled in.

"It's okay Ryan, we'll find her," Bentley said in a cheery mood, trying to comfort me but only making it worse. I couldn't talk to anyone, couldn't listen to anyone's lies; I just needed to find my girl and that's it.

---

"Officer Jones your daughter and some of her friends are here for you," the chubby security guard voiced into his walkie talkie while eating a donut.

"I'll be right down," Hannah's Dad (I assume) replied and soon appeared in the police department lobby. "What's going on Hannah? Alex?" He seemed confused so I stepped forward and took initiative; I was silent for the twenty-minute ride here and cleared my head to think of a game plan.

"Hello sir, I'm Ryan Bradley, Alex's brother, and I need your help."

"Call me Will," he shook my hand with a firm grip and nodded his head to the side. "Why don't a few of you come to my office?" Landon, Alex, and I followed Will to his small office and shut the door behind us. Landon introduces himself quickly before Will asks: "What can I help you boys with?"

"Do you know Kirk Logans?" I had to make sure this officer was going to be on our side – I knew I didn't have many other options but I wouldn't risk Becca's safety anymore by trusting in a crooked cop.

My answer was clear when Will shook his head in disgust. "Yes. I'm required to work with him from time to time. Why is it you're asking?"

"Required to work with him?" I needed to hear him say that they didn't get along or something like that before I could fully trust in this man.

"What he's trying to ask is if you're good buddies with the attorney," Landon said straight up and Will practically blanched.

"No," he scoffed, "I most definitely do not associate myself with Mr. Logans. He isn't my favorite person."

"Then we need your help," Alex stated but let me explain.

"A few months ago, there was a new student at our school, Rebecca Hanson. I got to know her over time and eventually learned about her background... long story short, she was living with us to stay away from her step-father, Kirk Logans."

"Go on." Will was listening and scribbling notes on a small pad.

"She turns eighteen tomorrow and we were planning on taking a restraining order out against him in a different county. We know there are some cops here that were helping him track her – he's been threatening her with text messages and making it clear that he was following her around." Landon and Alex sat silently by my side while I tried to fit the last two months of my life into a short description.

"And tonight she disappeared? Is that where this is going?"

"Yes, we know he took her." Will's head snapped up and he was going to ask a thousand questions but Alex cut him off.

"Hannah didn't know about Becca's background because she's very private about who knew. Kirk came up to Hannah while Becca was in the restroom and told her that he was here for his step-daughter to help with the surprise birthday plans. We did have plans for a surprise party tomorrow and Kirk made it extra convincing by telling Hannah to let Ryan know that he was there..."

"I'll send out a small search party that I implicitly trust alright? I think it would be best if you brought the girls home and meet me back here as soon as possible," Will stated and rose to shake my hand once again.

"Thank you sir."

---

The girls threw a mini fit on the way back to my house. It was only about ten thirty so I knew my parents would be awake and I wanted to get them in the loop but didn't want to waste time I could be spending looking for Becca. The solution was to drop off the girls at my house where there's a secure alarm system so they could relay what was going on, then Landon, Mason, Alex, and I would return to the police department and do whatever Will tells us to do.

It was now just the four of us and my mom was blowing up my phone.

"Alex, fucking text mom and tell her to stop calling me. I will let her know when I have updates but I don't want my phone to die!" I needed to keep it charged incase Becca had an opportunity to contact me.

"I already told her but she's freaking out Ryan, Becca is like a daughter to her so she's worried too."

I kept my phone on vibrate but shoved it in my pocket, trying to ignore the constant buzzing as we walked up the stairs to Will's office.

There were four new guys in the room and they each stood straighter as I walked in.

"Ryan, these men are about to head out but I'd like you to give a description of Rebecca to them and a photo if possible. We are all aware of whom Kirk Logans is and will keep an eye open. I'll be sending them to the surrounding cities if two of you could stay and look in the area that would be best, the other two can come with me."

Mason and Alex immediately volunteer to stay in the area, knowing full well that Landon and I will be by each other's sides until we find Becca. They leave and promise to check in every half hour or if anything comes up. Landon and I give a choppy description of Becca but email them several pictures of her from our phones and the four men head out within ten minutes.

"Ryan, Landon, I'm thinking we should head up to Olympia for the night. I'm not sure if we will find much but it's the most populated area close by and I have my men scouring all other areas. Most criminals love to hide in populated places because the chances of getting caught are slim – I know that isn't the news you'd like to hear, but it's the truth." We nod along in full understanding. "We'll find her."

The three of us pile in his squad SUV and start the long drive North. It's completely silent except for the police radio announcing dispatch numbers and so on so I all I have to do is think about where Becca could be and what could be happening to her.

REBECCA'S POV

I was having a good time. I thought everything was going to go my way for once... As soon as I opened the bathroom door and saw Kirk, I knew my life would never be the same.

I could feel his hand leaving a bruise on my arm as he cranked it behind my back which made me whimper.

"Don't make a fucking scene Rebecca," he warned and poked my back with something sharp, it reminded me of the knife he used to cut up my legs after tying me down a while ago so I listened and went along with his plan. I was desperately trying to scan Johnny's house for anybody who could help but we were outside and I was pushed into Kirk's running car before my lungs remembered how to scream. There was a steady stream of tears flowing down my face when Kirk reached over, tied my arms behind my back and threw me against the backseat in an uncomfortable position.

"You always did like to cry. You're so fucking pathetic." Although his words gave him away, his voice sounded sympathetic and he stroked my cheek gently to wipe the tears away. Suddenly his eyes grew angry and he hit me with the hand that was just caressing my face. "Stupid little bitch! I told you I'd find you."

I was frozen and thought he'd hit me again but slightly relaxed when he shut the door and went to the driver's seat. We drove for a bit but I didn't know which direction we were going – I was trying so hard to pay attention to my surroundings when he slammed on the breaks. I rolled forward on the seat and couldn't catch myself with the tied-up hands so my face smacked against the console in Kirk's car... the last thing I remember was laying on the floor of his car, listening to his fanatical laughter as he sped back up and drove me away.
