She has love in her words and pain in her silence...

      .Ravenna.

      "Who gets married in November?"

"Well, I don't have any other choice for now so I might as well work with what I've got." Ellie hisses, shooting Jenna a dirty look.

"It's not like it matters anyway," I snort, tugging my sweats a little lower on my hips. It sagged in a way I found attractive. "This is both their second wedding. People would understand. They should."

"You do not get off talking to me like that." Ellie snaps her neck so quick that I think she's going to get whiplash.

I snort once again, playing around with one of the bouquets that had been brought for selection. Didn't they have to go to the store to get this? "I talk to anyone however I deem right."

        "Didn't your mom–"

Jenna's hand goes to squeeze Ellie's shoulder, trying to get her to keep shut. The older woman doesn't take the hint anyway and goes right ahead to inquire about my mother and a lesson on respect.

"My Mom taught me to respect everyone but she also taught me to be truthful," I sneer. "I'm not always disrespectful, I just say what's on my mind."

"Well, maybe you should learn to keep your mouth shut then..."

"Hold up. My mama taught me something. What did yours teach you? To go around acting all bossy and bitchy? Or to go around trying to replace other people's mama?"

Her left eye twitches at my question and I toss the bouquet in my hand at her. "You might be getting married to my dad but I'll never acknowledge you as my mom or even go the closest to putting you as a mother figure. To me, you'll always be that stuck up principal in pant suits she thinks are cool."

        "Raven–"

"Daisies are pretty." I remark before making my exit.

My approach to the stair case is brought to an halt when I hear knocking on the door. My mind goes to the possibility of Klaus making an appearance here but then deem it stupid considering how our last meeting had gone.

"Riv?" I swing the door open to find my best friend leaning against the door frame. Messy hair and a very nervous look.

       "It was you."

"I'm sorry, what?" I pause, lifting a brow. "What was me?"

"The girl I needed a rebound for," He huffs, like he had just gotten an enormous weight off his chest. "Still need a rebound for."

"You liked me that way?" My eyes widen. "Klaus was right?"

       "Wasn't it obvious?"

"No River, it wasn't." I respond.

     "I made flirty comments..."

"What the hell is wrong with you guys? I am not the girl you're supposed to like, I'm the one you should be terrified of!" I cut him off, exclaiming. "I've got piercings and tattoos. I wear nothing but black, I ride a damn motorcycle and I do pretty well with defending myself. I can't find anything pretty about that."

"Pretty? Probably not. Hot? Definitely." He smirks.

        "Riv..."

"So, now that you know how I feel, did it mean anything to you?" He repeats his question from the other day, holding my stare.

"I do a lot of stupid things," I scoff, running my fingers through my hair, my teeth sinking into my bottom lip. "And I joke around with a lot of guys but Klaus is actually the only one I've come to really like."

His eyes crinkle by the sides and I know the look all too well. Pain. "So why'd you guys break up then?"

      "We had to."

"So you're telling me you found a guy out of the so many fucked up ones out here and you leave him just because you had to?" His head drops low as he stares at his feet. "You're one of the smartest bitches I know, does that make sense to you?"

"He lied to me." I confess.

"How often? Everyday or just once?" He questions.

"Just one huge lie that made me believe he lied about everything else." I sniff.

He lifts his head and makes eye contact with me once again. "I'm going to need you to sit down and think shits through because I'm not sure you're in the right state for now."

      "What are you talking about?"

"I'll see you around." He hangs his head low before turning to leave. How did a love confession turn into that? Was he still trying to say something good about Klaus even when he liked me? Damn. I got a good friend.

    .Niklaus.

"Nik?" Elsie's voice sounds way too distant as I try adjusting to the hangover I had gotten from drinking too much the night before.

"Go away El." I moan, getting out of bed.

My door pushes open despite my words and Elsie stalks in with a white paper bag. "I got you some food."

"I don't want it." I shrug, taking in my appearance in the mirror. Eye bags and messy hair. Perfect.

"I know you've been drinking," she says, gritting her teeth.

"Who cares? I've been drinking. What are you going to do? Ground me for it? I'm not a kid anymore, Elsie!" I flip out, turning to look at her. I was on edge this morning and I didn't need to be having a conversation with anyone.

       "Yes you are." She responds.

"I'm not! I'm not that little brother of yours that you thought was such a bother anymore. I don't need you bringing me food or interfering in my life!" I counter.

Her lips quiver as she gazes at me. "I never thought you were a bother!"

"Yes you did! I heard you complain to mom every single day about something I'd done that you found irritating or annoying," I confess. She approaches me, reaching out to cup my cheeks but I step away. "Don't touch me. You're the whole reason I'm like this now."

"I did what I could to help you!"

"I didn't need your help!" I scream at her. A tear drops and she's quick to wipe it off before running off with racked sobs.

I get a huge migraine that distracts me from the fact that I should feel bad for what I'd just done to her. Trailing into the bathroom, I turn on the hot water and let the steam engulf my skin.
