Back at the institute Piper was doing barre exercises, point shoes laced around her ankles. Magnus was okay, shaken, but okay. Clary was with Simon and Jace, and Isabelle was beside her listening to her rant about Sebastian.

"I know that feeling, hell, I felt It." Izzy tried to mirror the red heads moves only to fail miserably.

"No, relax into it." Piper corrected "but anyway, have you um..spoken to him?" Piper inquired looking at her Parabatai as they sat on the floor untying the fabric shoes.

"If by him you mean Alec, then yes." She said taking pipers hand and turning her. "He really didn't mean it like that, it's been so long since there was something so good in his life other than family." She sighed and Piper nodded.

"I know, besides, I miss his smile." The red head admitted.

"Wow, you get him to smile?" Izzy joked and Piper smirked.

"I get him to do a lot of things." She said seductively and Izzy hit the back of her head.

"Believe me, you tell me too many details." She respond in annoyance. "Love you." She waved as we parted ways.

I headed back to my room, laying on my bed before I was being smushed into my bed by a large rock solid body.

"Alec, I can't breath." I grinned, shoving the boy beside me as he laughed holding onto me so I was on top.

"Are you calling me heavy?" He raised his eyebrows before tucking my hair behind my ear.

"I'm calling you muscular." I reasoned propping my elbow on his chest. "What's up?"

"We're going on a date." He said and I smiled. "Right now."

"Woah, What? Right now?" I shot up and he chuckled walking to the door.

"Yes, wear something that's okay to get wet." He winked before closing the door for me to change.

Shrugging I walked to my dresser finding my favorite bathing suit. It was tommy haflinger, Black with the band that repeated the brand over and over that crossed around my neck. It was a little small, or maybe just fit too good around my breasts. I pulled on one of Jaces shirts with Clary's shorts before grabbing a towel. Walking down the hallway I found Alec leaning against the wall.

"So where are we going?" I took his hand as he lead me to the elevator and then up a floor.

"To the pool, did you really think shadowhunters have no life?" He chuckled before opening a door to a large pool, glowing from lights under the water. "It's heated."

"Good." I grinned walking around the edge. "Where am I supposed to put my stuff?" I asked him holding up my towel.

"Hmm, let me think." He took my towel and set it on the ground.

"Alec, I'm not leaving my towel on the ground." I scowled crossing my arms.

"Oh, well I'm that case." He picked me up and put me over his shoulder at my protests. "I hope you can swim!" He shouted.

"Alec don't you dare even." I stopped to close my eyes as I was tossed into the pool. The water instantly soaked my shirt and shorts and skin as I sunk down. Oh I was going to have some fun with this. "Alec!" I gasped splashing about. "I can't swim!" I sunk down, blinking open my eyes as I let myself drift deeper.

With a splash above I heard Alec jump in before swimming me up. When we reached the shallow end he looked shaken up. "Piper are you okay?" He asked nervously.

I looked at him with a mischievous grin. "If I said I couldn't breath would you give me mouth to mouth also?" I asked and his nervousness turned to a grin.

"I thought you we're drowning!" He splashed me and I laughed at his childish manner.

"I thought you would at least give me cpr!" I splashed him back before he lunged taking us under the water before springing back up. "I thought you would notice these things." I chuckled and he paused, nodding.

"Your right. You know what else I noticed?" He crosses his arms.

"What?" I asked curiously, raking a hand through my wet hairs.

"Your still wearing a shirt and shorts." He pointed and I nodded.

"Yes I am, good noticing." I grinned and he rolled his eyes. "I didn't get a chance to take them off before you so rudely chunked me in the pool." I struggled to pull the cover up off tossing them to the side so that I could flaunt my bathing suit. His eyes darted across my body making me blush before he blatantly looked at my chest.

"I'm getting flashbacks, this reminds me of the first time we met." I laughed and he blushed, shaking the water out of his hair. "Alexander!" I wiped my eyes. "You just flicked the water into my eyes."

"Yeah, I meant to do that." He stood towering over me and I slapped his chest.

"I'm going to get you back for that." I said before he started swimming to the other side. I went after him and ended up beating him.

After racing twice, another splash fight, and a handstand contest he was teaching me to float on my back.

"It's not happening." I scowled before his hands stayed under my back as I lay on the surface of the water. "Oh wow, I'm doing it!" I cheered happily before he shook his head at me, smiling.

"So what color are your eyes?" He asked and I shrugged.

"Clary says they go with my emotions, but they just never stay a color, also I didn't think pink and purple could be eyecolors but sometimes they look...I don't know."

"Right now they look green blue." He noted and I smiled up at him.

"Your eyes are green blue." I said and he chuckled lightly. "Why did you choose the bow?" I asked, genuinely curious.

"It called to me, like harry potters wand." My eyes widened at the reference.

"You watched Harry Potter?" I asked.

"This crazy girl with red hair that I love watched them, so I decided to watch them." He chuckled and my grin brightened.

"Well this dark haired boy with tattoos once shot me with his arrow, i fell in love with him the second he scowled." I poked at him.

"I didn't scowl!" He defended and I raised my brows. "Okay I did scowl, but that was because it was my lucky arrow."

"Does that mean I'm lucky?" I thought aloud and he shrugged.

"You can get lucky tonight." He smirked and I laughed at his horrible joke loudly. Before placing my feet on the ground of the pool. He was in a one knee squat and I straddled his leg, wrapping my arms around his neck as his arms came around my waist.

"Your amazing Alexander Lightwood." I leaned back so I could see him. "But I'm getting pruny." I showed him my fingers and he showed me his.

"Did you know that your fingers do that so you can have underwater grip?" He spoke as I looked at my wet clothes with a scowl.

"I always thought it meant it was time to get out of the bath." I admitted, pulling the towel around my shoulder as we walked barefoot through the institute. We walked side by side through the hub, water dripping behind us.

"Your making a mess!" Izzy shouted making me jump. My feet slipped at the slick floor of the hub before I fell on my butt. Alec's laughter peeled through the large room, as he grinned brightly.

"That hurt! It's not funny!" I groaned getting up before slapping Alec's arm. "I'm going to change." I said before going back to my room.

Once changed into dry clothes I walked back into the hub where Izzy sat on the desk talking to her brother. Clary and Jace busted towards us.

"There was an attack on a shadowhunter." He I formed and we all went into business mode. "A werewolf attack."

"How do you know it was a werewolf?" Izzy asked, looking between the two.

"The claw marks and bite marks." Clary added, and we traded small smiles in greeting.

"Are you sure?" Inquisitor herondale asked, standing at the top step between the upper and lower part of the room.

"Yes." Jace nodded. I had almost forgotten that he was now Jace herondale. The Inquisitor has become awfully nice to me in the short span of time, before this she avoided me entirely if possible.

"And I think I know who did it." She crosses her arms and I raised my brows.

"This is absurd, of course luke isn't the killer." Piper leaned against the desk, arms crossed looking between Inquisitor Herondale and Luke who sat in the chair before her.

"I agree with Piper." Clary nodded, from her stance beside Alec and Jace.

"He wanted the soul sword destroyed, but that is not going to happen, obviously he wanted to retaliate." She soothed looking from Jace to myself. I wish she would stop doing that, actually no, I wish she would explain why she kept doing that.

"I'll do a dna test, run it against the one you got down in the lab." Luke offered and I sighed, pinching the bridge of my nose in annoyance. Alec escorted him out and I walked with Clary towards the door with Jace.

"Jace, a word." She spoke and Clary and I looked back to the blonde boy. He nodded to us before I closed the door after him.

"Do you think it would be wrong to listen in?" I asked and Clary scowled pulling me after her.

"Come on, we need to talk. Fill me in on pilec." She bumped my side.

"Were defiantly not calling it that." I grinned, linking elbows with her.

Nobody

"But your eyes, you got those from your mother, along with your stubbornness" inquisitor Herondale told her grandson. "If they could see you now, they would be so proud." She patted his chest before walking back around behind her desk.

Jace smiled slightly, wondering what his life would be if he had been raised by his real parents. Then his thoughts drifted to Clary, would he have ever met her. She was the love of his life, even if she didn't know it. And what about her audacious ex. Twin? Piper. Unwillingly he had let the two bound into his life. Yet he couldn't imagine life without the duo.

His thoughts were snapped by his grandmothers chair being scooted towards the desk. "Unfortunately I will be leaving for Idris, so that would mean a new head of the institute."

The first person he thought of was Alec. "Alec would be amazing for this, he's got great leadership qualities and has experience."

The woman smile, admiring his support of his Parabatai. "Actually, I'm leaving you and Piper in charge." She said and his mouth parted in shock. "It would be good practice for both of you, Diana Penelope needs to have experience at leading if she is to one day seat the throne, and you my dear boy, will be beside her."

Jace almost choked on his tongue. "What?" He asked as the woman pulled out a old piece of parchment.

"The Herondales and the michealsons bloodline runs far back, both powerful families. King Stephan, who would be King Xavier's father was my brother." She said smiling.

"So what does that make Piper and I? Cousins?" He frowned, and the woman nodded.

"But not only that Jace." She paused. "It was said that a great daughter would be born of the michealson bloodline. When the daughter came of age, she would marry the eldest Herondale boy."

Jaces mind was bubbling with emotions and thoughts. Piper was his cousin, yet the arranged marriage between the two bloodlines... "Piper and I are arranged to be married...I have to marry my cousin."

"As odd as that may sound it is normal for powerful bloodlines to-"

"No, I'm not doing that. Piper is dating my Parabatai. Besides we could never...do that kind of stuff. We're too close." He thought of all of the possible interment moments with the girl, how to an outside they could have been a couple but to themselves and to the ones who knew them best they were something that didn't have a title. Alec understood their bond, after all the red head and the raven haired boy were in love.

"And that is because of the script." She showed him old parchment with cursive writing. At the bottom we're the signatures of the michealson and the Herondale. "It is embossed in angelic magic."

"Tear it up!" Jace argued. "Piper will not know of this, we are not getting married, but if you won't give the institute to Alec I'm done." He slammed the door behind him.

Piper sat sideways in Alec's lap as he typed on the computer about something that had to do with the dead shadowhunter she was half asleep. Her head resting on his chest.

"You could help." The raven haired boy looked down at her and she sighed getting to her feet. Her warmth leaving him. "Okay, i mean later, not right now." He longed for her warmth back but she rolled her eyes.

"I'm going to help, you pay attention to your work." She grinned pecking his lips before jogging off to find Clary.

Alec watched her go with a sigh, it felt like last week that the annoyingly beautiful red head had been wandering around the institute with her at the time twin and future Parabatai.

Alec went back to looking at the security of the building before standing up as Jace stood beside him.

"Hey are you okay? You look pale." Alec noted the golden haired boy looking distracted before he shook his head.

"Yeah, But Inquisitor Herondale put me in charge of the institute." Jace spoke, focusing on one thing at a time.

"Congratulations." Alec said, happy for his brother yet dad he didn't get the institute back under his control.

"I told her that it should have been you leading it." Jace told him, hoping he wouldn't be mad.

"Accept it, Your a Herondale, it comes with-" the alarm blaring drew both boys attention to the red flashing light then to the entryway "perks." Alec finished, standing up from his bent position and looking where Clary and Piper ran in infront of a streatcher.

"What happened?" Jace asked the girls.

"Another attack, both with similar injuries to the first murder." Clary informed while Piper pulled her hair up with a scrunchi, pulling on plastic gloves and rolling up the sleeves of her black sweater.

"Both male, tunes carved out however not all of them. No specific patterns in which tunes however injury shows that the cause of death was not only the lack of blood but this one appears to be drained of blood, and the other lanced by a selfie knights sword." She stood removing her fingers from the bodies and looking up.

"How did you know all of this so fast?" Jace asked.

"Piper has a analytical side of her brain, how do you think she solves murder cases in Sherlock so fast?" Clary asked and the red head nodded.

"Attention to detail." Alec simplified.

"Clary scratch my nose, I can't." Piper showed the bloody gloves. "You know where it itches."

"Yeah." Clary itched the freckled nose before looking to the boys. "Like was right this is more than a lone wolf."

"This is multiple downworlders." Jace continued for her. "This could be the start of an uprising."

Pipers breath was cut by the words. "I hate that word." She whispered removing her gloves and tossing them in the bin as the four looked over the two bodies. "Too many people end up dead."
