Piper had enough, enough of Valentine claiming to be Magnus bane. She shoved past the guards and banged open the door to the cell and pointed her sword at his throat.

"Alicante May have denied the request to end You but I'm not them." Pipers eyes narrowed, shining a red grey color.

"Penelope-"

"Don't!" She cut him off "You don't get to call me that."

"It's me, Magnus bane, when the greater demon was here Azazel swapped valentine and I." He pleased and my lip poured as I mulled over the thought.

"Tell me something only Magnus would know."

"When you were first learning your abilites, everyone thought that you had warlock blood, I had to keep it a secret of the truth." He said and I scowled.

"Everyone thought that." I said. "It's not good enough."

"I know how your family died!" He said and my confidence flickered.

"W-what do you mean?" I asked lowering my sword slightly.

"It wasn't the day of the rebellion, it was the night before. Your mother and father, and brother were all with you in the livingroom." He said slowly and my face started to drop as the memory solidified in my brain.

"It was storming outside, a thunderstorm. Your brother was making it dance on his hands as you tried to touch it. Then the greater demon came, your father tried to fight it off as your mother took you and your brother through the courtyard-"

"Stop." I whispered, not wanting to hear the rest of it.

"She told Xavier to run with you to me, that I would take care of you two. So she stood in the rain, as you saw the demon come out and slit her throat-"

"Stop." I said backing up, my sword clattering to the ground.

"When your brother came to me, both of you were covered in water, a three year old girl screaming for her mother and a teenage boy who was too brave for his good. So Xavier went outside, standing in front of his baby sister and called the heavens down on the demon, but it came with a price. Xavier died from the poison of the demon."

"I said stop!" Piper yelled curling into the corner, only Magnus would know the true story.

"Penelope, you love sweet things because they remind you of the heavenly food your mother stirred from clouds of the kingdom, coco is your go to, you secretly love glitter, and you chose to deny your dream dance school to be here with the shadow world." Valentine said and I stood eyes glinting back and forth between his frighten ones.

"Magnus!" I ran to him to huff him in the swapped body and he sighed in relief.

"Biscuit, finally someone believes me." He smiled but before I could reach him Alec had grabbed me back lifting my feet from the ground.

"Alec put me down, that's Magnus! Their swapped, you have to believe him." I told him and he glare at him.

"Alec, no it's me, Piper!"

"Magnus, I will fix this, I'll figure it out!" I shouted before being locked outside the cell looking at Alec.

"Piper that's Valentine, he's done some kind of mind compulsion." Alec's hands held my face and I closed my eyes.

"Alec, he is the only one to know how my family died." I sighed and his face looked as though it wanted to believe me.

"How about this, you don't do anything crazy until I go talk to Magnus at his apartment, Okay?" He offered and I sighed.

"Okay." I agreed, before walking upstairs where Jace and Clary ran into me.

"Inquisitor Herondale would like to speak with us." Jace gave me a side glance and I blew my hair from my eyes before taking out my stele and tracing a crown rune on the floor. A gold and ruby crown twisted with silver appeared and I picked it up placing it on my head.

"Well then she can get me." I sighed, walking with them into the room.

"You three have angel blood, Valentine's children, and the angels child." She looked to me and then up at the top of my head. It was lopsided, I knew it, but I couldn't fix it now. "I'd like to test your abilities, see what your capable of."

That was like a slap to the face. "You want us to be lab rats." I narrowed my eyes. "How dare you."

"Piper, I think we should." Clary reasoned and both Jace and I raised our eyebrows to her.

"Clary you don't know the clave, even Piper knows it would be a bad idea, it starts off small then soon they've got twenty four hour watch." Jaces words still hadn't changed Clary's mind. I couldn't exactly blame her, if I couldn't activate my angelic power I would be mad too.

Now here we stood, the three of us fighting back and forth before I let down a hard swing paring jaces blade. He knocked me to the ground with a shove, a rune on his arm glowing as Clary lunged infront of me.

"I'm feeling a little ganged up on." Jace chuckled, disarming the still learning Clary before I stood up as he raised his blade and a leg of thin electricity hit the blade making him jump away from it. I then lunged but he jumped out of the way, literally fifteen feet over my head and landing infront of Clary.

"Try the sunlight rune again." Inquisitor herondale handed Clary a stele and the blonde girl tossed me her sword while Jace and I stood back.

"Alec tells me that you believe Valentine is magnus." Jace whispered and I nodded, catching my breath. "Valentine is always five steps ahead, you can't trust him."

"I don't." I sighed, pushing back my hair. "I trust Magnus, and he told me about how my parents died, only Magnus and I knew of that." I sighed turning back to Clary.

"And I think your valentines daughter." The older woman narrowed her eyes and Clary crossed her arms.

"Yeah, But I'm not him, he killed my mom." Clary said back and I took a sharp breath.

"I think we should call it quits today hm?" I offered as jaces eyes narrowed.

"Yeah." He said and I quickly ran from the room. Looking about I crashed into Sebastian, I would have fallen if it wasn't for his arm around my waist.

"Careful now." He smiled and I felt twisting in my stomach like vines of discomfort and darkness.

"Thanks." I said straightening up and my nervousness spreading through my chest. "Were are you headed?" I asked, still feeling him way too close for comfort but needing to stay this close to try and break into his mind.

"The greenhouse, I heard it's quite lovely, you care to join?" His flirting was clear and I still couldn't break through his mind.

"No, I'm fine." I smiled, touching his arm, upon the contact my first thought was walls, he had thick cement walls around his mind and I let go. "Thanks though."

"Mhm." He nodded and I quickly turned away, my mind going fifty miles per hour as I looked the room over before my eyes met Alec's. His jaw was locked, glare firm as he turned and stormed away. What was his deal? I jogged over after him yet he was already vanished into the hallways and I sighed.

I lost myself in fiddling with my stele waving it between my fingers before knocking into another person. "I swear to god Sebastian-" I looked up and saw blonde hair but a different face.

"Sebastian? What's he got to do with anything?" Jace frowned and I shook my head.

"I ran into him earlier. Where are you going?" I asked and he held up his phone.

"Magnus texted me to meet him at his place." He answered and I nodded. "Want to come?"

"Nah, I'm good, bring me back a hot coco though." I instructed and he rolled his eyes.

"I'll consider it. Besides, Alec is talking to the Inquisitor right now." He nodded towards the elevators as I saw the doors close heading down.

"Okay." I sighed, walking towards the hub, as I looked towards the screen of the cell holding Valentine who was really Magnus I gasped. If Jace was going to Magnus then that means that he was going to valentines, the screen of the cell was black, and having known the Inquisitor I feared the worst.

I shoved people aside pulling out my phone as I ran through the wall. "Hello this is Jace, don't leave a message unless your one of the people I care about, bye."

"Idiot!" I yelled before seeing alec standing outside the cell. "You idiot, that's Magnus!" I yelled before 'magnus' appeared with a chained Jace.

"Piper, Alec, I'm so sorry you were rig-" but I was already in the cell laying over valentines body where Magnus was trapped, hands splayed out.

"Your not killing him today, not my magnus bane." I narrowed my eyes at her. "They've swapped."

"It's true." Alec spoke as The I Inquisitor looked at the flickering image of Valentine and Jace.

"You let him go free and I will release one of your angel blooded warriors." Valentine who was in magnuss body spoke.

"She would just as rather kill me here." Jace shook his head. "Your plans a bust." As Alec released Magnus in valentines body from the ties that held him.

"Oh, no it's not, Imogen would never kill her grandson." Valentine chuckled and my brows furrowed.

"What? Now you expect me to believe I'm a herondale?" Jace scoffed at the man beside him.

However Valentine proved his point with evidence. "Selene and Stephan." Valentine sighed. "Poor Selene, torn apart by werewolves, her unborn son eaten alive...or was he?"

"You didn't." The Inquisitor whispered, as if to convince herself.

"The clave has taken so much from me, so I decided to take something back." Valentines spoke.

If Piper was being honest, the amount of brain power to think up such a plan, to carry it out for 23 years? It seemed like a never ending nightmare.

"Any further proof? Or just your lies?" I inquired, surprising all by my calm tone.

"Why yes my dear Piper, I do have proof." He held up a silver band ring, assuming this was major for inquisitor herondale all faves turned to her.

"My family ring...where did you..." she trailed off, obviously in shock.

"If selenes very finger." Valentine smiled darkly "Meet me in one hour for a trade, or your grandson dies." The image of the two vanished and I turned to Alec and the Inquisitor.

"Alec?" I asked and his eyebrows shot up. "I think we should do it, of course with backup." I nodded and he turned to the Inquisitor.

"We're doing it."

As Valentine who was Magnus stepped into the apartment Clary and I stood around the corner, the bickering Sebastian and Alec a step behind.

"I thought you said he wouldn't have wards?" Clary shot at Sebastian.

"As always, valentine surprises us-"

"There is no us, there's us." I motioned to Clary Jace myself and the apartment "and you." I pointed to him.

"Why did we bring him Again?" Alec asked and I sighed looking to Clary.

"She wanted to bring him, plus there's more of us then." I sighed and Alec looked at me.

"So it wasn't about that scene in the hallway?" He asked and my brows furrowed.

"Guys." Clary grabbed our attention. "How are we going to get through?" She motioned and I crossed my arms.

"Your going to get us through." I passed her my ruby stele and she looked at it like it was a snake. "I know you've been having trouble with your runes, so now it depends on you."

"She's right." Sebastian said and I fake tripped so that he extended his hand. "Piper, you okay?"

I felt the firm walls and tried to push through but nothing, not even a chip. "Yeah I'm fine." I said before he tried to move his hand. "Wait!" I gripped it back, trying to continue to break through the walls of his mind. "Are these real?" I asked pointing with my other hand to the two rings.

"Yes." He retracted his hand and the connection broke. Clary eyed us weirdly before he went over to her and began whispering to her, her face becoming angry.

"Piper." Alec pulled us back slightly. "If you want to break up with me just let me know, don't just flirt with him infront of me." Alec's eyes avoided mine and my brows raised.

"Flirting? Alec, what are you talking about?" I shook my head, my red curled hair tucked behind an ear.

"In the hallway, here, holding hands?" He said glaring into my own eyes.

Pipers face relaxed, that's what it must have looked like to everyone. That she was flirting with Sebastian. "Alec, no I wasn't flirting with him." I sighed, pulling him a bit farther away and lowering my voice. "In the hallway, when he caught me, I got this bad feeling about him, so I tried to look into his mind."

"And what did you see?" He asked, anger turning to intrigue.

"Nothing, it was like I hit a wall of concrete, every time I come into contact with him I trie and break the wall but nothing, not even a chip." I ran a hand through my hair. "The feeling I got though Alec, it was dark, twisted and evil." I shuddered looking between his eyes. "Alec, I was scared." I admitted and his eyebrows raised.

"But it's okay." Alec nodded and put his hands on my arms lightly.

"Wait...you thought I was flirting with him, and you got all angry about it?" My emotions slid into anger.

"Well I-"

"No, if you don't trust me then what have we got?" I crossed my arms. "You could have asked me, instead of running away, then I could be focused."

"Piper, let me explain."

"Save it, we've got to save Magnus and Jace first." I walked towards Clary who was drawing a rune fircely on the wall.
