As Magnus and I appeared in the apartment through the portal I casually sat in the kitchen making chocolate chip pancakes while the warlock was doing some zen magic practice. The door opened and in walked Alexander lightwood. He came into the kitchen as looked at me for a few seconds as if debating wether or not he should say anything.

"If your going to ask me to come back to the institute I won't, not until Jace is off the command kill list." I flipped one of the golden pancakes.

"I was just going to say I didn't know if you could cook." He smiled and I chuckled, adjusting my shoulder strap. "And ask why your wearing a toga."

I turned around so my back was to him and smiled. "See Magnus and I went to a party in Greece for some of his warlock friends, there were some vampires but who cares." I shrugged and he came closer, so I could feel his breath on my exposed back.

"You went to a party in Greece." He repeated as I turned to face his confused face. "With Downworlders." I fought a grin from my face. "And so your just casually walking around in a toga making pancakes." He grinned leaning against the kitchen island as I piled plates full of pancakes as Magnus walked in and he took his plate and I handed one to Alec also.

"Yeah, and my cooking is amazing." I informed the men before Magnus closed his eyes and snapped his fingers a picture now in his hands.

"This is Piper on her first Halloween, she was three and wouldn't take it off for two days." Magnus showed me the picture and I gasped in horror.

I was dressed as cleopatra and a woman with dark hair and thick bangs stood beside me laughing wearing a tan dress. I looked utterly ridiculous, my mane of poofy red ringlets and black eyeliner. "Who's this." I pointed and Magnus grin brightened.

"That would be cleopatra, she was at my Halloween party that year." Alec reached for the picture and I jerked it away. I was so small and fragile as a kid, no way.

"Piper, it can't be that bad." Alec reached but I held it above my head. "Thank you." He plucked it easily out of my grasp and I scowled before he began laughing. "Magnus I suppose you have other memories of Piper when she was little. Please don't hold back any good ones."

"Shut up." I crossed my arms before eating the pancakes. "I don't even remember myself." I scowled deeply before leaving my plate on the counter. After walking to my room I began to lay on my bed, Alec came and sat beside me.

"Okay when we were little, Izzy wanted to dye her hair red so nobody would think we were related." Alec started and I grinned covering my mouth.

"I already know this is about to be good." I chuckled and crossed my legs and watching his smile grow.

"So she gets her dye and follows the instructions perfectly, she showers it out, then she goes to dry it..." Alright paused for effect, by now he was barely keeping it together. "But the truth was that Jace and I had swapped it for electric green. And she had to go get Mom to fix it." I tried to imagine a young Izzy screaming while holding green hair and laughed with him.

Once I was remotely calm I began to tell my story of Clary. "So it's thanksgiving right? And Mom told Clary she could make an apple pie, because she was going out to the store with Luke to get the rest of the stuff. So I'm sitting in our room, watching tv and I smell this crispy smell." Alec began to grin at this part as I continued "through the walls I hear Clary shout...'god damnit the apple pies on fire!'" I completely lost it in the middle of my story and paused to breath after my laughter. "So I go in and Clary's holding this pie consumed in flames with a face of pure horror."

I mocked her face and Alec chuckles. "So what did you do?"

"We did the reasonable thing, we threw that bad boy straight out of the window and watched it smack into the pavement." I tilted my head from side to side. "Mom and Luke happened to be walking to the door st that time and saw the whole thing. Let's say Clary wasn't allowed in the kitchen after that."

He grinned before laying back and I copied him. The silence was pleasant, I felt his gaze on me and turned to look at him with a half grin. "Have I got something on my face?"

"No, no your perfect." He spoke softly and I blushed looking back at the ceiling before doing our thing.

"I know." I smiled lightly before turning on my side to face him. "What's your favorite movie of all time, I bet it's something like divergent." I joked and he frowned.

"I never really watched movies, so I have no clue what that is." He shrugged and I gasped.

"No Harry Potter? Lord of the rings? Percy Jackson books?" My eyes widened and he made a face st me.

"Why would there be a lord of rings?" He rolled his eyes. "That's the dumbest I've heard."

I glared at him. "That's not true." I fidgeted with the ends of my hair before sitting up.

"Do you want to play Mario cart?" I turned on the wii and brought back a remote and he examined it.

"How?"

"Dear goodness I have a lot to teach you." I sighed with a grin sitting beside him.

An hour after playing just dance and Mario cart he left in a hurry, something about Jace and a Parabatai bond. I couldn't go weaponless and he told me to stay there but where's the fun in that. I quickly changed into a tight, sleeveless jumpsuit with a strap that went around my neck to hold it up before zipping it up the front.

Going through the bedroom wall I appeared in The institute clipping my swords onto outsides of my thighs before chasing down Clary and Simon. Valentine stood with Jace who staked a vampire, my eyes flickered to a figure.

"Mom what are you-" Clary gasped as Mom held a crossbow at Jace and I sprinted as fast as I could jumping and catching the arrow before tumbling across the ground getting my arms scraped up.

Another arrow flew and hit valentine as Jace steered the man towards a portal. Valentine muttered something before they both disappeared.

"Jace no!" Clary shouted and then Alec helped me up.

"Your bleeding." He pointed to my shoulder as Clary yelled at Mom.

"I'm fine." I pulled away, storming up to the blonde woman.

"Why would you try and shoot your own son?" Clary shouted as I ushered them through the portal appearing in the institute. Alec stormed off in one direction and the Fairchild's in the other. Looking back and forth I went with Clary.

"Piper was lucky enough to have abilites to be fast enough to catch it but look at her arm Mom." Clary pointed and I sheepishly turned away.

"It's nothing I'm fine" I sighed as Mom looked at it with worry reaching out to touch it but I moved away.

"Johnathan isn't who you think he is, your father tested on him, when I was pregnant." Jocelyn ran her stele over a mark before putting a arm on Clary's wrist and one on my own. I was jumped into her memory of the little boy with pitch black eyes killing a flower.

When she pulled away I shook my head. "Demon blood?" I asked in confusion and she nodded.

"Why would Valentine do that?" Clary ran her hand through her blonde waves and I put a hand over my wound that was throbbing.

"I think I'm going to go get stitched up." I spoke tiredly before pulling my hand away. It was dripping with red blood and I wiped it off on my clothes as I felt weak. I was loosing a lot of blood. But all I had done was get scratches from the pavement after I had caught the arrow. The arrow...I saw no arrow head when I caught it. With a cry of pain I whimpered reaching into the deep torn flesh and retrieved the silver prism blade. I had laid at valentines feet when he muttered something...but I was too tired to remember. I stumbled towards the hub and when I made it in there Izzy saw me looking at me in horror.

"Piper!" She shouted and I saw Alec look at me in horror. I then fell to the ground limply and passed out into blackness.

I blinked open my eyes and groaned at the white lights above me. Izzy looked down at me, relief cross crossing her face as I sat up, rubbing my hair before looking to my arm. My whole arm and shoulder and most of my chest and clothes were covered in dried blood.

"I feel dead." I muttered before seeing the Healing tune drawn were my wound was akin with another mark of anti dark magic that was fading. "So I was cursed, I knew it as soon as I pulled hat arrow head out." I swung my feet to the floor before stripping down, not minding if Izzy was still here.

"You almost were, my heart almost broke." She sighed, getting me a towel as I walked into the shower and she sat on the toilet as we talked through the shower curtain. "I never knew how strong our Parabatai bond was. I wonder what will happen when we get our runes?" She asked as I rubbed my skin raw getting the blood off.

"I have no clue." I moved onto my hair shampooing and conditioning it. "Probably better than any of the others knowing how awesome we are."

She chuckled and I turned off the water taking the towel from her hand and walking to my bedroom where I pulled on pj pants and a old band shirt over my underwear. We walked side by side towards one of the training rooms where Alec was no doubt beating the life out of a punching bag.

We were right that he was there but he also was yelling at Clary how it was her fault. "And you will never belong here." He snarled and my eyes narrowed.

"Alec!" Izzy said In surprise as I looked dumbfounded at him, how dare he say that to Clary, it wasn't her who shot the arrow.

He glanced at me before I pulled Clary away as she just looked hurt. "Clary he shouldn't have said that to you." I shook my head angrily. "What Mom does Isn't what you do." She nodded before I sat her down.

"Yeah." He mumbled before we walked to her room. "Hey, Do you miss sharing a room sometimes?" She asked and I sighed with a slight smile.

"I don't don't miss your stuff on my half of the room." I chuckled lightly bringing a small smile to her face before we sat on her bed. Using my hearing I heard talking in the hub.

"They're having a meeting without us." I scowled as we jogged into the room and I stood beside Izzy.

"I tried to come get you but Aldredgee was heading that way." She whispered and I nodded.

"People have been missing from local fight clubs and dojos. Valentine is taking the strongest warriors who will most likely survive the transition." Lydia spoke and I crossed my arms. "We're going to position people to stop that from happening....Dismissed." Everyone went on their was as I stood before he lightwoods Alec looked at me.

"Piper-"

"No." I cut him off with a glare. "You said awful things to Clary. Being her twin and the daughter of the same woman they go about me too." I narrowed my eyes and he sighed.

"Aldredgee benched me." Clary angrily spoke, looking at us. "Piper you wouldn't want to be benched either." She begged and I nodded, understanding completely.

"Hey, why did you bench Clary?" I crossed my arms at the man who looked at me like t was out of his hands.

"Her lack of training makes her venerable, besides your not going either, I heard you took a bad injury yesterday night." He nodded to my arm and I rubbed it.

"I'm fine, it's all healed up." He then pressed his thumb hard onto the spot and I bit my cheeks.

"That hurts doesn't it?" He glowered, a grin forming and I jacked away. "Until your healed your not going on this mission". He said and I turned to Clary who was gone.

I headed to my room, through the stain glass windows the sun was rising and tiredness wove over me. Piper couldn't remember the days since she had felt sunlight on her skin, let alone seen it other than colors of the stain glass. She was like a vampire in that way, the bad thing about being a shadowhunter, along with long hours and getting cut up and beat up every other day. I crawled into bed and closed my eyes, falling asleep.

I woke up to my mom shaking me awake. "Mom?" I rubbed my eyes getting up.

"Somethings happened to Alec." The words sent every ounce of sleepiness out of me as I sprinted down the hall and into his room.

He looked as if he was asleep, twitching occasionally, Izzy looked almost in tears. Piper jumped onto the bed beside him putting herself on top of his chest.

"Alec, Alec?" She was almost hysteric. "What happened?"

"He tried to track Jace with the atemus Jocelyn gave him." Izzy handed me one of his shirts as I help her put it on his bare chest.

"Why? Why on earth would she let this happen?" I asked before laying my head on his chest, absorbing his heat and rapping my arms around his broad shoulders.

Magnus walked in and analyzed the situation. "Piper, you have to stay with him, you can't let him go do you hear me?" Magnus instructed and I nodded.

"I'm not but why?" I asked and he sighed.

"Your energy, abilites-magic, it's what's keeping him alive. If you leave this room he will die." Magnus sat in the chair in the corner of the room.

"Magnus, What ah..happens when I run out of energy?" I asked nervously and his gaze shifted to the floor.

After two hours Piper refused to let go of the boy. Although actually he was a man, being 21 and all. "This is Raj, I'm positioning him at the door, don't tray and portal him again." He told izzy and I sighed.

At hour five, Piper was struggling to keep her eyes open, gripping onto Alec's hands like iron. Magnus was on his third round of injecting Piper with a formula of sugar and gold and other things to keep her energized.

"Okay, you two can leave. He's clearly not getting any better." Raj spoke and Magnus sighed.

"Don't be an idiot, she's the only thing keeping him from slipping and I'm the only thing keeping her from burning out."

"He's clearly not getting any better." The annoying shadowhunter repeated. "And the rebellious princess is getting worse."

I got from the bed and punched the man as hard as I could in the face. The snap of his nose breaking along with his cheekbone filled the room and he slumber to the floor with blood flooding out of his nose.

"That's right bitch, I don't follow the rules." My hoarse voice cracked before I went to Alec's side taking his hand and resuming my energy flow.
