#2 in A Good Girl's Tale series

IN the morning, the sun's feeble light trickled through the open window that Cassandra had left open during the night as she unpacked her boxes.

She murmured a cuss word then flung the soft warm floral bed sheet off her body, feeling the cold slithering up her legs and arms. In half an hour, she was dressed and ready for school.

Cassie wore a black jumper that fell off her shoulder and light blue jeans that hugged her timid waist and flashed a little bit of her stomach, showing her pieced belly button. She had black booties with laces on which made her taller and slimmer than normal, a cream shoulder bag filled with all her school essentials and a diamond ring that fitted on her finger.

Her hair was let down, her chocolate locks bouncing on her shoulder as she paced around the room, nervousness filling up her body.

What if- No. No more what if. She was done with what ifs and done second guessing everything. It wasn't great that she came back at the beginning of senior year. She just wanted to study and graduate then enjoy the rest of her summer before college. Cassie was determined to head back to school and stay out then limelight.

Yeah, like that was going to happen, she thought.

Tears swelled up in her eyes as she remembered the horrendous memories but she blinked them away rapidly, careful not to make her eyeliner and mascara run. Her hazel eyes glistened in the sunlight as she slipped on her Ray Bans that her dad got her on her 17th birthday.

"Cassandra, are you not coming to eat? Michael is going to leave in a minute." Her foster dad's voice boomed from downstairs.

"Coming!" She shouted back and quickly shook away the memories and stalked downstairs.

"Are you sure you want to head back?" He asked, worry lacing in his voice.

Cassie nodded and sipped on her coffee. "I'll be fine, George. I'm going to go now." She dropped the mug in the sink and walks over to him, bending down to give him a kiss on the cheek.

He was still worried for her but didn't say anything because he was proud that she was going to try. He gave her a weak smile as she exited the house and towards the Bentley that was waiting for her. He was proud. Her mother would be proud, if she was a better person. George sighed, if only she knew that her mother is waiting for her. Waiting for her to meet up.

Cassie got to school, the Bentley parking up in front of the school stairs. She suddenly felt very nostalgic as she looked over the ancient school through the tinted windows. Everything was the same, same people leaning and gossiping around their cars, same car park spaces, same everything. Everything was the same but her. That's what made her stand out.

She exhaled in nervousness then placed her trembling hand on the handle. Slowly, she opened the door and exited the Bentley, people gazing at her like a brand new toy. Then she closed the door and walked over to the driver's door, knocking on the glass window.

The driver rolls down the window and smile at her. "Yes Miss Cassandra?"

"Can you get someone to drop off my red Lamborghini before I finish school please? I have the keys here but the spare keys are in the locker in the garage." Cassie asked, a confident smile playing on her lips.

"Yes Miss Cassandra. I'll have Reggie drop it down for you. Have a good day Miss and don't worry." She nodded gratefully and began to trek up the school stairs, aware that many people are staring at her.

As Cassie walked through the crowd of people, she heard hoots and laughter from boys and snickers and sneers from girls. Panic slightly rose through her body and she speed walked towards the office, still keeping her posture as confident as she could.

"Hello?" Cassie whispered, peering through the glass border that showed an empty room on the other side.

"Hello." A lady with glasses appeared, a tight smile on her lips. The lady looked up and down at Cassie before meeting her eyes again. "Cassandra Diaz?"

"Yes." Cassie replied, pulling the cream bag up her shoulder as it had began to fall down her arm.

"You have some confidence coming back." The lady whispered and passed a key and timetable to Cassie.

"Why wouldn't I come back?" She said and thanked the lady, tucking the key and A4 paper in her bag. The lady gave her a knowing smile to which made her roll her eyes.

"Welcome back, my dear." The lady slipped back behind the office and left Cassie trembling in fear, not that she was showing it.

"Come on Cass." She murmured and shook her body. "You can do it."

After a moment of deep breathing, Cassie finally relaxed and made her way down to first period with her heart rapidly beating in her rib cage. She knocked on the door to the ebony door to the maths room. The door opened with a creaky sound and the maths teacher peered at Cassie with an annoyed look.

"Yes?" She drawled.

Cassie gave her a fake smile and pulled out her timetable from her bag. "I'm in this class. I'm new."

The teacher frowned and narrowed her eyes as she snatched the paper out of Cassie's hand.

"So you do, Miss..." She squinted and then her frowned deepen. "...Diaz?"

"Can I take a seat, now?" Cassie replied, bluntly, almost bored, and her frown softened as she let Cassie enter the class room.

"Okay Class, we have a new student. Cassandra, take a seat at the back." The teacher pointed to the empty seat besides a boy.

She walked over to the back table, feeling the gaze of boys and girls in her class. The boy at the back, gazed up and down her body with an amused glint in his eyes.

"Alright, page 53." She began to talk as Cassandra seated herself down.

She opened a floral book and turned the lined pages until she got to a clean page then Cassie slipped out her pen from her bag and began to write.

"Hey." The boy beside her said, his voice deep and husky, sending shivers up her spine.

She glanced over and raised her eyes. "Hey."

With a smirk, he leaned closer to her and she suddenly felt claustrophobic. "I'm Scott Miller."

Recognition of that name flashed in her mind. "Cassandra."

He raised his eyes, "Cassandra what?"

"Diaz." She replied. His eyes furrowed and then softened.

"I've heard about you, Cassie." He leaned back, his t-shirt flashing his muscles, still smirking.

She kept her eyes down and gave no emotion as she replied back. "Good things or bad?"

"Mostly bad but they might be lies." Her head shot up and she looked at him in confusion. "They're rumours or facts. It's better if you hear it from the person who it's about. I would know cause I get them all the time."

"I don't think you've heard the story then." She muttered and looked away, trying to focus on the work on the board but couldn't when she felt her knee hit his.

From the corner of her eye, she saw him frown and lean forward. "Then tell me."

Cassie almost snorted in laughter as she looked back and locked eyes with him but he looked dead serious like he actually cared. Before she replied, she gave him a quick once over, taking her time.

He had the most perfect blue eyes with brown hair, darker than her own, falling over his eyes. His jaw was sharp like the blade of a knife and his lips were plump and pink with a silver ring pierced around it. His smirk returned back on his lips when he caught her staring at him and Cassie turned away, fighting her blush.

"It's not a story worth telling." Was her reply.

"But it's a story I'd like to hear."
