Been a month.
How're you all?

Don't start bashing me now.
I was stuck with duties and studies.

Being a house captain is hard. But then, we won in the sports meet. I had always dreamt of walking to the stage to get the trophy for overalls on behalf of my housemates, and it finally happened! The feeling was unexplainable.

Here comes the best part. On the first day of meet, one of the opponent house's captain teased me by saying, “Don't worry. Tere house ka naam board par nahi aayega.” I mean that's the notion. People have some weird addiction with his color, red, which wins every year. Plus, he's a national level medal holder. And see the irony, table turned around on the last day of meet. With the trophy in my hand, I showed him a thumbs down. He and his kids rolled their eyes and were like, “Whatever, we got the runner up trophy.” But still, there's always a difference between winner and runner up.

"Natasha! Can you pass me some soup?" He asked and I nodded while passing the bowl to him. We were having dinner in his hotel room. He didn't invite me. I was the resistant one to stay.

I took a spoon of soup and dug it inside my mouth. The hot as hell liquid burnt my tongue and I screamed in pain. He quickly passed a glass of water towards me and helped me drink it with a stressed look. I knew he was tired because of winding up all his work and cases here, yet I created a nuisance.

He was behaving weird from past three days. He was not being him. The Dhruv I knew was way far different from the one I could see now, lost. He looked lost.

"You're alright?"

"I'm fine."

"Are there any rashes on your tongue?" He asked and I tried to sense to state of my tongue by rubbing it all over my mouth.

"No. It's alright? And, I'm not going to eat anymore."

"Okay. Even I'm full. Let's rest for now." He said. Keeping the plates and bowls aside, he dragged me to the bed and made me sit there. "Don't move. I'll be back in a minute." He walked straight to the bathroom and came back in a few minutes.

"Are you done?" I asked and he hummed. He removed his glasses, sat beside me on the bed and leaned his back on the headrest.

"I want to tell you something."

I don't like you anymore?

Let's break up?

I like someone else?

Was it seriously happening? Is this the reason Dhruv seemed so strange?

"Hmm..."

"About my past."

I took a deep sigh but stilled when I saw his troubled face. "There's no need for that. I mean, if you don't feel like telling it, then it's okay."

"I want to. Please..."

"Hmm."

"I... I'm adopted." He said. I know this. "I don't know who my birth parents are, but for me mumma and dad are my parents, my everything. They showed me what a family is. Dad was there with me when I went to school for the first time. Whenever I was angry, mumma made my favourite gajar-ka-halwa. I have a younger sister who always supported me. What more would I want?"

Words choked in his mouth as he tried to speak ahead. I quickly passed him a glass of water and he drank a sip before keeping the glass on the bedside table. He didn't look me in my eyes and turned his gaze away.

"I want you to know my past before we take a step ahead in our relationship. I am not my parents real child and-"

"Dhruv. I've never loved you because you're Divya's brother or Gupta family's elder son. I love you for who you really are. I love that Dhruv who's shy but understands me at the same time." I said and he cracked a smiled. My hands went to his face as I wiped the unshed tears off his eyes.

I wanted him to know that I was here for him in good or bad. He just needs to convey what he feels.

"I want you to know about something else too." He said and I nodded.

What was it going to be about?

"When I was in college, I liked a girl and that was my biggest mistake. I never reciprocated my feelings to her. It was her who took a step ahead and proposed me. I thought that she was the one right for me."

Right one for him?

No...

This wasn't going in a good direction.

"I did everything I could for that relationship but she started staying aloof from me. Until that day...." His voice broke while saying the last line. I held his hand tightly to provide him support but I myself wasn't able stop my eyes from watering.

I have never had breakup. But still I could feel that!

"Why are you crying?"

He passed me a look and I shrugged, "I don't know." He nodded and continued.

"One day, I saw her kissing a guy in the way to our dormitory. For once, I questioned if I was at fault in our relationship. When I confronted her, she told me that it was never a genuine one for her. She wanted to be in a casual relationship, nothing more. I don't even know why this happened to me. I was always loyal but she broke my trust."

How the fuck could she hurt my Dhruv?!

"It's her loss. She lost a gem." I said and crawled towards him to hug him tightly. I nuzzled my face in his neck and let my tears fall freely. Although he was the one who should cry, I was a sobbing mess by now.

"You know, I learnt something from this. I came to know that she was never my love but just an infatuation. I never loved her. And maybe that is the reason why I don't remember any of her memories but yours." He said and I took a moment to understand what he said. I opened my eyes and pulled back from the hug.

"What did you say?"

"I love you. Just don't ever leave me alone. I won't be able to live." He said while wiping the tear-works off my face and I pulled him into a tight hug.

He loves me?

Damn!

I wasn't dreaming right?

"I won't. I won't ever leave you. I promise." I said and pressed my mouth on him. I felt him smile against my mouth while his arms crawled to my back. Before I could deepen the kiss, he pulled my head back and pecked my forehead.

"Let's sleep. It's already late."

"Hmm..." I slightly moved my head in acceptance. It's not that I was never going to kiss him again. This could wait. If he wanted to sleep right now, I could understand his concern. He was tired from all the activities and I was too. I lied beside him and kept my head over his heart.

"Natasha..."

"Hmm?"

"Cushions?"

I knew what he needed them for.

"We won't need them in future anyways. Let's skip them." He took a moment before nodding his head in agreement. I felt him hold my hand, which rested over his chest, and tangle all his fingers with mine. "Good night."

A loud sigh escaped my mouth when I felt a soft touch on my waist. I lazily opened my eyes and looked around to see what was happening. A hand which looked like Dhruv's came in my view. I palmed his knuckles and closed my eyes to get some more sleep time.

An idea crossed my mind and I quickly flickered my eyes open. I tangled our fingers together and shifted closer to him. It's rare to see him without his glasses. I was glad I was one of them who could see him like that.

My gaze followed towards his juicy lips and nudged me to kiss them out.

No...

I can't do that when he's asleep.

I hid my face in his neck and took a deep breath, inhaling his intoxicating body odor. His presence felt so good against me. I placed a kiss on his collar bone and grazed my lips upward to his throat. I suddenly felt a huge pressure tightening around my hips. I knew it was Dhruv.

"What are you doing Natasha?"

"Good morning."

"Morning. But this isn't a way to wake me up. You know we can't..." He paused and opened his eyes to meet mine.

"We can't what?"

"Natasha." He whined as I teased him and I chuckled, "Stop making it hard for me." My smile immediately dropped when I felt the change in his tone.

I wrapped my arms around his neck and pecked his cheek. "What should I do then?"

"Wake up and get fresh. It's already late."

He's such a mood breaker.

Instead of listening to him I moved my mouth towards his jaw and placed a kiss there. I expected him to object and stop me while I did things to him but he didn't. Just when my lips were about to travel to his', he pushed me on my back and hovered over me.

"Dhru-"

He leaned his head too close to me and my breath hitched. Damn! It didn't feel awkward when I initiated it. But now, when he looked at me with such an intensity in his eyes, I felt myself melting under his gaze.

My eyes crawled down to his lips and I gulped.

God!

What had I been expecting?

We're dating. Such moments were bound to happen.

As his head moved pass me and settled in my the crook of my neck, my eyes widened. No kiss? His lips grazed my ears as he spoke, "You know what you were doing."

"Dhruv, I..."

"Shh..." His mouth travelled up to my cheek and pecked it before trailing down towards my jaw. "I told you not to do that. You started it, remember." I closed my eyes when I felt him peppering sweet and wet kisses on my neck. My hands clutched his arms tightly and my heart started pumping at a vigorous rate.

It felt so good.

His presence felt so good against me.

He leaned his forehead against mine and pecked my lips which made me open my eyes with a flutter.

We were finally having a morning bed kiss!

Before his lips could meet mine, his phone made a loud sound which made me turn the other way. He paid no heed to the call and moved ahead to kiss me.

"Dhruv, you have a call." He shook his head and cupped my face, "What if it's work related?"

"Shit!" He immediately jerked back and stretched his hand to the table on his side. He picked it up before the ring could go off and walked out to the balcony after sharing a formal hello over call.

Maybe, it was really something work related.

I scanned the bed, the sheets, and smiled thinking about night's events before hitting my head back on the mattress. Last night, he confessed his love for me. I could feel what he said, there was no lie in his words. I could see the truth in his eyes.

I had dreamt of it all through my life— my guy confessing his love for me. But I had never thought I would feel so overwhelmed by just a couple of words from him. Maybe that's the difference between reality and imaginations.

With a deep sigh, I walked off the bed and got inside the bathroom to get fresh. I wasn't at leave, neither was he. We were nearing our last days here and everything was in a rush.

When I walked out after bathing, I saw him lying on the couch with his laptop on his lap. His glasses were settled on his nose as he looked into the screen with utmost concentration. I decided against disturbing him, avoided going in his direction, leaving him alone to give his full mind to the work which needed his attention.

I got ready and packed up to leave. It was my last day there, and I was excited as hell, thinking about how things were going to wrap up.

By the time I was ready to leave, Dhruv reappeared from the restroom with a towel around his neck while the lucky water droplets found their way down his hair. "You're leaving." I nodded and his mouth turned into an o shape, "Wait for two more minutes. I'll drop you."

He disappeared into the other room and I sighed before sitting on the couch. This was new. It was always me who initiated to travel together and share the ride. But this time, he said it.

Things change with time.

They surely do.

"Let's go." His voice broke my trance and I looked up, only to find him decked up in a formal attire. I stood up, walked to him and held his hand before we walked out. He undid his coat as we sat in the car and immediately turned the heaters on. "You're okay?"

"Hmm." I smiled and shook my head vigorously. He replied back with a smile but it couldn't reach my eyes. Was something troubling him? We were good last night. Heck, he seemed happy in the morning when we woke up. What happened now? "Is everything fine Dhruv?" I asked but he paid no heed to my question and drove straight on the way. "Dhruv?!"

"Yes?"

"Are you okay?"

"Yeah, I am. What could go wrong with me?"

Everything. But we weren't going on that track.

"You weren't listening to me, I thought-"

"It's okay. I have an important work and I need to finish it today." Oh, so that's the reason he looked so troubled. "Uhm... Natasha..."

"Hmm?"

"Can I ask you something?"

"Ofcourse."

"Eden's your friend, right?"

We were not talking about Eden right now, during our personal moments, were we?

"Yes, he is more like a brother to me."

"Oh, okay. Do you know about his family?"

"Family?" I questioned and he nodded, "I don't know much but the only thing I know is that he is the only child. And, you met his father in the hospital that day."

"Dr Avery." He said and I nodded. I didn't know much but by the look of it, Dhruv was probably working with Eden's father. "What about Eden's dad? How many siblings does he have?"

"I don't know. I never heard him talking about it. Neither did I search it up." He shook his head and kept his focus on the road, "Is everything okay Dhruv?"

"Hmm? Yeah..." He shook his head vigorously and let out a deep sigh, "Everything's fine." I knew there was something which was eating his mind but couldn't put a finger upon it. "We're here." He said and pulled me out of my imaginary world.

My hands reached the door to walk out but paused in its way when I felt a warm touch on my cheeks. I turned my eyes towards him and saw an unknown emotion in his eyes.

What was troubling him?

I wish I could do something to make it right.

Before I could blink my eyes, he leaned over me and kissed me softly. His fingers held my jaw in place as our bond grew longer. When I felt it too much to take, I pushed him back on his seat and crawled in his direction. His eyes grew wider as I straddled his lap and continued what he had left.

"Natasha..." He took a long pause and held my arms to stop me from kissing his neck, which I absolutely loved to do. "It's getting late. I guess you should go."

"You want me to leave?"

"I don't want to, but it's your last day here. You shouldn't miss the experience just because of this. We can continue it later." I smirked when I heard what he said. His ears turned red as soon as realisation struck him. "I mean, you should go. Work is always important."

I nodded and descended his lap, not before gifting him a peck on his right cheek. "Bye." I grasped my belongings, wished him good luck for the day and walked off to where I was meant to be.

♤♡♤♡♤♡

"I can't eat more. I'm full." I rubbed my belly and cried when Kate put more of the food in my plate. "Kate!"

"What? Enjoy it. We're finally free to eat them." I shook my head in disbelief and ate the last spoon. I couldn't fit in more. "Let's go and check Eden. He was asking for you." She said and I nodded. My poor brother was in hospital and was going to stay there for a week more.

We reached the floor he stayed in and stepped out the elevator. Kate's phone rang unexpectedly and she excused herself to pick it up. I walked towards Eden's room and paused when I saw Dhruv through the glass window. He was talking to Eden and the latter was replying without any hesitation.

They seemed like good friends.

I knew it wasn't good to hear talks but my condition couldn't help. I stuck my ears to the door and looked inside to see the way their lips moved.

"So, do you have a sibling?"

"No. Is this information related to my treatment?"

"Yes. What about your father? Is he the only child?"

"Hmm. He's the one and only offspring my grandad had." Eden spoke while biting the apple in his hand. Dhruv nodded and turned his head towards the door. I quickly got aside and walked away from the room.

What was Dhruv thinking about?

He asked similar set of questions to me in morning. What was running inside his mind? I had to find out the root of his problem!
