Whoa!!!

A miracle happened!
I got passed in math.
I literally don't know how the teacher checked sheets but... I passed.

- N A T A S H A -

It's Divya's haldi today.

Her second haldi this year.

After the incident which happened two days ago at her place, I stayed in my house without stepping out. I didn't join her in shopping because of my uneasiness. But, I couldn't leave her haldi just because of Dhruv.

Dhruv is my love; correction- ex-love, and Divya is my bestie. Both of them have their respective places in my heart.

But, he told me that he was the one who initiated the kiss. It wasn't me.

It wasn't me!

So, he doesn't hate me now?

I mean, I didn't force myself on him. Why would he even hate me and for what?

But then, why did he kiss me that night?

He feels something for me?

No. No. No.

Ofcourse not. He would never.

So, why did he do it?

I'm going crazy!

Maybe he was drunk too, just like me.

I need answers but I couldn't ask him. I mean, I can ask Divya to interrogate him but it wasn't a good idea. Her big day is near and I can't burden her with my problems.

After debating a lot with my mind, I decided to reach Divya's house for the function and went there in a few minutes.

"So, here you are! Where were you for these forty-four hours? A shoot or an important work?" Divya asked in an uninterested tone as I walked behind her.

So cheap of me to leave her wedding rituals just because of my so called broken love-life!

"I was spending some me-time." I said and she narrowed her eyes.

"You were spending personal time when your friend needed you the most!"

"Okay, I'm sorry. This won't repeat, I promise."

"Hmm... Now help me. I really don't know anything about makeup."

"Okay, then I'll be your makeup artist. But wait, you don't apply make-up before haldi, right? It would eventually remove after a few minutes."

"That's what I wanted you to think about. You're so lost. Now get ready and help me too."

"Okay, bride." I said and we went to change our respective dresses.

Wearing a light dress as I usually prefer, I walked out and saw Divya already standing there, looking herself in the mirror. "I'm the bride but you took more time." She said while wearing her earrings.

"You look good."

"I know. And you look... Girl, you're going to break many hearts today." She said and we chuckled.

"You're ready? You're looking so beautiful. Nazar na lage meri bachchi ko." Divya's mother entered inside and said. Indeed, Divya was looking amazing! She turned to me and hugged me tightly, "You're looking amazing beta. We need to look for the priest soon." (May no one cast an evil spell on my daughter.)

"Huh?" I exclaimed.

Priest?

For what?

"Nothing. Enjoy. I'll go and check everything out." Auntie said and went out, leaving us alone.

"You're the bride. You can rest by the time. I'll go out and see what's happening out." I said and she nodded. While I was walking out of Divya's room, someone pulled me just like the last time, and it wasn't difficult for me to know who it was. He pinned me on the wall and stood in front of me.

Why is he always hell bent on surprising me by doing such things? What's the need to do all this when there's no future for us?

"Will you go on dinner with me?" Dhruv asked.

Dinner?

Why would he ask me on a date?

"Do I have to answer you now?" I hesitated as I asked and he nodded. I took a deep breath and mumbled, "Okay, then I'm ready."

"Then, I'll pick you up from your place tomorrow evening." He said and I nodded. He smiled and placed a kiss on my forehead before walking out.

Is he really Dhruv?

Why do I think he's an imposter?

Doppelgänger?

Maybe not. It suits only in movies. Too scary to be real!

I shrugged my head and walked to the main area until Divya's mother called me out. "Natasha beta!"

"Yes auntie."

"Don't call me auntie. You can call me mumma, just like Dhruv and Divya." She said. What? But why? She wants more kids? "For me you're just like my daughter. So don't hesitate to call me mumma."

"Okay, auntie." I said and she glared, "I mean mumma."

"Hmm... Good. Take care. I need to keep check on many things, I'll go." She said and went away. Walking towards the food area, I picked a drink and sipped it slowly.

"Hey!" A man sat beside me and spoke.

"Yes."

"You're.....?"

He doesn't know me?

Me?

Well, I know this trick. He would act as if he doesn't know me and will be too clingy. He's under an illusion that he could maybe impress me with such a trick.

"I'm the tenth daughter of my parents." I lied while stirring my drink in glass and his face clearly showed the extent to which he was shocked.

"Really?"

"Hmm..."

"Don't you wanna know my name?" He asked and I nodded in negative.

"Nope. I don't have any interest in knowing your name."

"I'm Karan Garg. And, in two years, I would be India's biggest fashion designer."

"Ohh..." I exclaimed while stirring my drink. Good for him!

"Do you want to be my girlfriend?"

"No."

"Let's go on a date tonight. You can take the decision then."

I was about to deny him when a familiar voice stood behind me. "I'm sorry but she won't."

Dhruv!

"You're Divya's brother right?"

"Yes, I'm Divya's brother."

"You should go and check the arrangements. Let me talk with my date."

"This is not a dating spot."

"Any place could be a dating spot where beautiful women like her are. Why are you still here? Please don't invade our privacy." Karan, the man who sat beside me said to Dhruv.

"Privacy? She's my fiancée." Dhruv said and I choked on my drink.

When did we engage?

"But there's no news about her marriage over the media."

"Some things are for privacy. Hope you understand this." Dhruv said and dragged me from that place. He did it just to save me. Nothing more, nothing less. "Natasha I-"

"It's alright. You did it to save me. Thanks." I said and ran away from him.

Fiancée?

It feels like a dream.

It's ofcourse a dream!

Walking towards the area where all the rituals were taking place, I saw Divya and Ayaan covered with haldi. They looked like yellow bears. Such an enjoying moment it would be!

I paced towards them and squatted down to her level, "I can't apply it on your face. I'm not married." Yes, it was true. I wanted to do this but then, it could only be done by married women.

Sigh!

"Then get married." She suggested. What an excellent suggestion!

"Even if I marry someone now, your haldi would be over by the time. So there's no need." I said and she chuckled. After the functions were over, I went back to my burrow and took a deep-soothing sleep before going to the shoot.

I quickly buttoned my shirt and wore a coat over it. Turning to the mirror, I wore my spectacles and smiled after seeing my reflection. I hope it's how people get ready for a date.

What if I make a mess?

I wish everything goes alright.

Packed with clothes from neck to toe, I stepped out of my room. While walking on my way, Divya stood in front of me and made me stop abruptly. "What?"

"Where are you going?"

What's wrong with her?

"Out."

"I know. But, for what?"

"Work." I lied straightforwardly. I never lie. Okay, I lie occasionally, only in the times of need.

"Which work? As per what I know, you don't wear anything like this when you're leaving for your hospital." She said while gazing me with her magnified eyes.

"I have..... some... work."

"Are you going on a date?" She asked and my face lost all its colour. How in this world does she know about it?!

"No... Who told you?"

"No one. Just a guess." She said and munched an apple before walking away while I stayed rooted at my place because of shock. "I hope it's true. Atleast you would have a girlfriend this way." She shouted as I saw her retreating figure. I quickly ran out before anyone else could stop me.

Driving straight to Natasha's place, I stopped my car in the parking and took elevator to her floor. I took a deep breath and pressed my index finger on the doorbell switch.

It took her a few seconds to open the door. As soon as I saw her face, I smiled and greeted her, "Hey!" By the rate she was breathing, it was easy to know that she ran to reach the gate.

"Hello."

"Let's go." I said without beating around the bush and she nodded. Locking her house, she accompanied me to my car and I started driving. I looked in her direction and saw her fingers fumbling with the hem of her coat. "Umm... Do you want-"

"Water? No, I just drank it few minutes ago."

Do you want to watch a movie?

"Actually I-" Before I could complete my words and success in asking her, her phone rang. By the way she was speaking on line, it felt like a formal call, more like from a senior.

"Okay. I'll think about it for sure."

The restaurant came in my view and I turned the car into the parking. As her call ended, I pressed the breaks and spoke, "Let's go. We've reached the restaurant."

"Yes." She said. We reached the table I had booked earlier and I pulled her chair out. "Thanks."

"What do you like to eat?"

"I like many things but can't eat them."

That's sad.

"Should I plan a diet chart keeping your likes in mind? In this way you could eat everything you want in a proper way." I asked. I mean, there would be nothing better than this. Maybe, she would like it.

"But I don't think it would work. I'm an actress and I need to keep my figure well."

"Your wish." I said and cleaned my hands as the food arrived. Although I wanted to initiate the conversation, I couldn't dare to. I'm too bad in such things. And, she too was quiet all through the dinner.

She wiped her mouth and took a sip of water as her dinner was finished. I took a deep breath and looked straight into her eyes, "Natasha, I wanted to talk about something."

"Yes."

"I... I-" Her phone rang and I sighed. She immediately hanged it and asked me to speak further. "I..." Her phone rang again! And she hung it. "I....."

It rang again!

God!

She was about to cut it but I stopped her, "You can pick it up. Must be something urgent." She nodded and took the call.

"Hello!" Visible frown lines appeared on her head as she heard the other person speak. "I'm coming now."

"What happened?" I asked.

"I need to go. It's urgent." She spoke and I nodded. Before I could offer her a lift, she rushed out. I paid the bill and walked out where I saw her getting into a taxi. I immediately took my car out and followed the taxi she was in, until it stopped in front of the familiar hospital.

Ofcourse, that's my workplace.

So, she was here to meet someone.

Our date finished even before starting!

Date was a bad idea!!
