As the coastal town of Blue Water Bay slept peacefully, a lone dark figure hurried through the town down the main street towards the beach walkway. Avoiding the bright streetlights as much as possible, the figure paused to throw a quick glance over their shoulder. Satisfied that no one was following, the figure pulled the dark hoodie even lower before resuming a brisk pace towards the beach.

The sunny golden beachfront was transformed into a mysterious world of grey and silver beneath the full moon. A lazy low tide lapped gently at the sand as the figure tread carefully towards the pier. Moonlight filtered through the wooden slats above and the barnacle-encrusted pillars smelled of salt and fish.

"It's about time." A husky voice said while stepping out from behind a pillar. The coal on his cigarette glowed red as he dragged the smoke deeply into his lungs. The hooded figure jumped with surprise.

"I had to wait for my dad to pass out before I could sneak out. You know how he gets." The figure lowered the hoodie to expose a pockmarked face and an ink-black ponytail. "Can I have one?" she asked, nodding at the glowing cigarette.

"Here." He said as he tossed the crumpled pack to her. The flame of the lighter flickered across her face as she lit the cigarette and breathed in the acrid smoke. They smoked in silence and soon a third dark figure made its way down the beach toward the cover of the pier.

"Are we seriously going through with this?" he asked through a cloud of smoke.

"Don't tell me you're thinking of backing out now!" She hissed through clenched teeth. "As soon as we have the money we can finally get out of this shithole of a town! Besides, they are only gonna use her for some drugged up photo shoot for an hour or two and then dump her back in town. She probably won't even remember anything anyway." She shrugged.

Before he could argue, she shushed him and nodded towards a tall figure heading their way. The newcomer was much older than the two nervous adolescents before him. He dug into his jacket pocket and handed a wrapped package to the young girl.

"Half now and the rest when you deliver. The boat will be waiting and I strongly suggest you have the goods when it arrives." He glared at the pair while taking a vial and syringe from a different pocket. The white liquid seemed to glow in the moonlight and the girl took it with a steady hand.

"This will be enough to knock her out?" she asked eyeing the small vial.

"More than enough and she won't recall a single thing." He answered.

"And you will bring our .. uhh.. friend back?" she enquired boldly.

"Yes, although who needs enemies when they have friends like you?" he gave a chuckle and turned to leave. "I don't need to remind you what happens if you fuck this up?" the man asked over his shoulder before walking out from under the pillars and into the moonlight.

The girl let out a shaky breath and placed the syringe carefully into the pocket of her hoodie. "Come on, we've got plans to make." She said to her companion. "There's no turning back now." She said and her smile widened at the weight of the package in her hand.
