^^Amelia

Lara followed closely behind me as we used a side exit. We purposely got ourselves lost in the crowd. Lara yanked my arm and pulled me towards a Kia.

"I compelled the lady to give me her keys." She smirked and dangled the keys in front of me.

"Cute, but I was thinking something a little more flashy." I dangled the keys to an Aston Martin in front of her.

Lara's mouth dropped as I clicked the buttons until my supernatural hearing picked up the car doors unlocking. I made my way to a parking lot where Julian's lovely car awaited us. I hopped in the driver seat and smiled at the dope design. Lara sat inside and gave me an incredulous look.

"I took it off him while fighting." I roared the engine to life. "Let's go."

I then stomped on the gas and reversed the car. I turned the wheel and had us spun until we faced forward. I then peeled down the streets and swerved behind cars. There was obnoxious honking following me as I expertly changed lanes and bypassed traffic lights.

I then spotted a few Audis racing behind me. I narrowed my eyes and saw that Julian was in one car. I smirked and changed gears as I drove even faster. We entered a tunnel, where one of the Audis caught up. They hit the back of the car, making Lara and I lurch forward. They started shooting at us in an attempt to slow us down.

Unfortunately, they shot a truck coming in the opposite direction. The driver tried to get the vehicle under control, but wasn't skilled enough. A piece of shrapnel struck my door, cutting my leg. I hissed and I moved the steering wheel to try and free us. I was able to, resulting in the car spinning until I was able to get it under control and continue speeding away. I changed gears and passed between the cars.

We had exited the tunnel and there were now only two lanes. A truck was ahead of me as well as another truck approaching in the opposite direction. I pressed the gas and narrowly passed between the vehicles before they blocked the Audi behind me. The Audi ended up having a head-on collision with the truck, resulting in the cars toppling over the side of the mountain.

I made a sharp left as they shot at us. I ducked to avoid being shot and continued racing down the highway. At this point, the police were paged in. I heard their sirens as they followed behind three Audis. One of the Audis caught up and slammed into our side. I glared and glanced at the car before slamming him back. We were pushing against each other as a forklift truck approached.

Lara was screaming as she held onto the handle bar. The guy in the passenger kept shooting, so I pulled Lara down and ducked as I drove. I timed the forklift and stepped on the brake while the other car sped into the vehicle. I then jerked the car to the right and sped down a hill while the police car flew over the mountain.

We were at the base of the mountain as the two cars sped behind us. I glanced to see Lara in utter shock and amazement. She turned to see them firing at us.

"You're gonna get us killed!" She yelled.

"Thought you were immortal." I glanced in the rearview as I tried to lose the car.

"But not invincible." She sassed. "This is my premature death."

"Thought you'd enjoy this, babe." I smirked and jerked the car to the left. "Don't worry. I was the best driver in my class."

"The best linguist, hacker, shooter, seductress, and now driver?" Lara chuckled.

"Why do you think I was the best agent?" I smirked and spun the car around to shoot the tires of one of the Audis, causing it to crash. "Now we just have Julian." I spun the car back forward.

"I'm not religious, but even I'm trying to find God before you kill me." Lara closed her eyes and prayed while I rolled my eyes.

Julian's car sped next to us and tried to fire shots, but I reached into my holster and took my gun. With a single bullet, I shot through the driver's throat. The guy keeled over and drove into a mound of dirt, obstructing the car forward. I smirked and reduced the speed when we got back to the regular rode. I cockily turned to see Lara, who looked ready to pass out. I chuckled and drove to a private airstrip.

"Where are we going?" She asked as we exited the car.

"Egypt." I smiled and approached the owner of the hanger. "Mind telling him to give us a plane?" I turned to my wife.

"Sure." Lara went and compelled him.

The man was about to give us a luxurious jet, but I stopped him and pointed at a 1940s military aircraft. I've always wanted to fly one of those! The man nodded and allowed us to fly away. I then knocked him out before having Lara follow me into the plane.

"Guess I shouldn't be surprised that you can also fly." Lara chuckled while I grinned.

"Let's go before..." I saw police cars heading towards us. "That."

I then started the engines and began fiddling with the machinery. I was able to get the plane to move forward as the police cars quickly approached. The engine was still cold and it wasn't safe to fly right away, but we were in a rush. I pulled onto the taxiway and ignored the control center telling us to turn back. I then pushed down on the throttle and forced the plane forward. Lara looked in the mirror to see the police firing at the plane. I put on the sunglasses I found in the cockpit as I forced the plane to speed away before having it ascend.

Lara and I began chatting as we flew to Egypt. It should be under 6 hours for us. We put the plane on autopilot before joining the mile high club.

X

We were under an hour to Egypt when we decided to head back to the cockpit. We were casually flying as shots penetrated the roof of our aircraft. We watched as a fighter jet flew over us. It then turned and got behind us. I switched off autopilot and got control of the aircraft. We were passing through some mountains, so I used them as obstacles for the jet to chase us.

It kept firing at us and hit our engine. I looked out the window to see the engine producing black smoke. I got an idea and slowed the plane down, allowing him to fire more shots at the body of the plane. Lara was screaming that he was right behind us. I smirked since that was the plan. I positioned the plane where the black smoke obscured the pilot's vision. I kept moving the plane, so that he couldn't escape. I then swerved the plant while the pilot flew straight into the side of a mountain.

I then looked to see the explosion on the side of the mountain. Now that he was gone, we had to escape this battered aircraft. The engine was close to exploding, so I angled the plane upwards. Lara was screaming while I wedged the throttle forwards. I then undid my seatbelt and allowed myself to fall to the end of the plane. I grunted when I slammed into the back. I then grabbed onto the side and pulled myself upwards.

I found a parachute when the plane's engine jammed. Lara's eyes widened as the plane began to fall. I yelled at her to undo her seatbelt. She followed my instructions and fell. Lara screamed, but I caught her arm. She grunted as she slammed into the side of the plane. I managed to attach the parachute to her before shoving her out the plane. I didn't realize she could yell even louder. I then jumped after her.

I managed to catch her and straddled her. When we got to the appropriate height, I released the parachute. I gripped her when we jerked in the air. Lara's screaming died out as our fall slowed. We watched as the plane fell and exploded below us. I operated the handles and guided us to a sandy hill to land on. We fell down and I helped to release Lara from the harness.

"That's normal to you?!" Lara stood, but then slipped down the sandy hill.

"Did that a lot." I cracked my back. "Don't miss it." I trudged after her. "Interpol must've located our plane and shot us down."

"Great." Lara rolled her eyes and stood. "My outfit is ruined." She pouted.

"It's okay, my big baby." I patronized her before walking ahead. "I think this is the way to Cairo." I held my phone's compass out. "The coordinates are this way."

We walked a bit before I got tired. Lara gave me a piggyback ride through the desert. It was so hot! When nightfall approached, we found a little cave to hole up in. Lara was trying to entertain herself while I was trying to hide the fact that I was freezing. I guess my teeth chattered since Lara glanced my way. Her eyes widened at seeing me hug myself. Lara was about to embrace me, but hesitated. She then sighed at realizing that touching me would make me colder.

"Can't you raise your temperature?" She softly asked.

"I am, but I can't raise it that much where I don't feel the chill. We're only completely insulated in our wolf counterpart." I shivered.

"I'm sorry. Tell me what I can do to make it more comfortable for you." Lara sighed. "I can do magic-"

"No magic. They'll track that." My teeth chattered.

"You'll freeze." She whimpered.

"Worth it." I forced a smile and scooted next to her.

Even though I wasn't touching her, I could feel the chill radiating off her body. Lara couldn't take it anymore, so she moved away from me. I looked at her longingly, but she shook her head and walked deeper into the cave. I closed my eyes and hugged myself even tighter. I'm not sure how long my eyes were closed, but I heard the sound of something crackling, followed by heat. I opened my eyes to see Lara had started a fire with rocks and a few sticks. I scooted closer to the fire and warmed myself.

"Better?" Lara nervously asked.

"Much." I smiled. "Thank you."

"Of course." She sat next to me, but was careful not to touch me. "Thank you for doing all of this for me."

"Of course." I winked while she laughed. "There were no hesitations. Never a doubt in my mind. I believe you." I rested my head on her shoulder, prompting her to rest her head against mine. "I love you."

"I love you too, l'amour." Lara kissed my temple. "Get some rest."

I woke up to the excessive heat. I looked up to see Lara lovingly gazing at me. She blushed and looked away, but I turned her head to peck her lips. I stood and had her give me a piggyback ride. Since Lara was starving, she easily picked up the scent of people. We walked to the city and Lara had her fill of locals. Lara used her compelling abilities to get us a hotel room for us to wash up. We also got new clothes before tracking down Hakeem.

I was able to use my phone to find that guy's house. Lara and I went to the house and kicked open the door. He was startled while Lara approached him and dangled him in the air. He clawed at his neck, but we took him to the pool. Lara shoved his head underwater while he thrashed around. She then lifted his head, making him gasp for air, only to submerge his head again. Lara continued this a few more times before throwing him on the ground. Hakeem coughed and turned to look at us.

"Now you know what awaits you if you don't cooperate." I smiled and crouched next to him. "You've been funneling a lot of money from Cobalt Enterprise and their subsidiaries into many offshore accounts worldwide-"

"I told you guys at Interpol everything I know." He snapped.

"Well, unfortunately for you..." I dragged him up. "I don't work for them." His eyes widened before I submerged him underwater again. I pulled him up and whispered in his ear. "Ready to talk?"

"Never." He hissed.

"Suit yourself." Lara pushed his head back underwater. "Think he'll break?"

"I don't fail." I winked and pulled his head up. "You know what the money is being used for, no? Abductions and selling women for sex... that could be your little girl and her mommy." His eyes widened as I smirked. I had noticed the ring on his finger along with a picture of a little girl in the house. "Want to test me?"

"Speak or your child's legs will forever be spread." Lara darkly smirked.

"Fine!" He yelled, resulting in us shoving him to the ground. "I don't know who-" He stopped when Lara flashed her eyes. "I'm not told a name. I just get files and I'm to make sure everything is correct and nothing is out of the ordinary. I then give the data to someone, who actually puts the money in the different accounts. That's not me."

"Who's the hacker?" I asked.

"I don't know-" Lara picked him up and angled his face at the pool. "I'M NOT TOLD A NAME!" He shouted, resulting in me holding a hand up for Lara to pause. "I just know the username."

"What is it?"

"HowlLPremonition27." Lara and I exchanged looks. "I'm serious. You can look through my computer or phone. That's all I know. I swear."

"Where is Mr. 27 located?" Lara asked.

"I don-" She cut him off by submerging his head. She then pulled him back, causing him to pant.

"Try harder." I crossed my arms.

"We never met in person. Everything was fine over the computer and-"

"Think harder." I snapped, resulting in Lara being ready to submerge him again.

"Okay!" He shouted, making Lara stop. "There was a time that we were being tracked by Interpol and couldn't do the delivery over the usual server. So I had to travel to a location and drop the drive off. I never saw his face, but I traveled to New York to do it. I dropped it off at a cafe and then left. Didn't stick around since I didn't want to see anything that would get me killed. I just did my part."

"Does this cafe have a name?" I asked.

"Cafe Grumpy." He choked out.

"Thank you." I smiled. "I unfortunately am not forgiving of human traffickers... Lara."

She immediately drained him as he screamed. I picked at my nails until he was dead. Lara tossed his body into the pool before wiping her lips. We turned to see a small child walk outside. She looked around.

‎"أين أبي?" (Where is daddy)

"Umm..." Lara glanced at me.

Lara and I just awkwardly smiled before quickly walking past the child. We left the house and broke into a car. We needed another plane and this time... to New York. Lara gave me a knowing look. I sighed and nodded before continuing to drive. Unfortunately, unforeseen events like that will make you second guess your actions. At least, she still has a mom. I pinched the bridge of my nose as I drove.

"Wish there was a better way." I spoke.

"I didn't hear her heartbeat." Lara scoffed and shook her head.

"We were so focused on him that we didn't even think to hear if others were home." I groaned. "Fuck."

"Her dad was a bad man though. One less of them in the world." Lara looked out the window.

"And one more child to grow up without a father." I sighed, making Lara look at me. "That went sour. We'll have to be more careful in the future." She nodded at me. "Okay, time to get to New York."

"Let's do this." We fistbumped.
