^^Alec

Matt rubbed his forehead before motioning to the team to bring me to a car. Matt drove the car while I glared at him through the rearview mirror. I noticed we were driving for a really long time and the landscape began to look more bare. I searched for a sign on the highway and recognized Spanish instead of French. My eyes widened as I realized they were taking me to Spain. If anything, I thought Matt would take me back to Italy.

That means my family didn't know what was going on. Matt was SO getting fired when they find out.

"Why are we in Spain?" I demanded. "Bring me to Italy."

"You're out of your jurisdiction. I don't have to listen to you." Matt spoke as he drove.

"Why Spain?" I kept demanding.

"It's not Italy, meaning I wouldn't have to listen to you." He spared me a glance.

I continued glaring at him, until he got uncomfortable and looked away. My arms were crossed while I radiated hostile energy. The ride felt so long and I fought with myself to stay awake. I was exhausted from crying and the emotional turmoil, but I didn't want to fall asleep. It was hard, but I managed to stay awake even throughout the night.

We pulled up to a two story villa. Matt instructed the men to lead me out. I then recognized a few cars there as well. The security began speaking to someone over the radio while I flitted my eyes to Matt. He gave me a knowing look before having me enter. I was confused until I saw Dante and Dom waiting inside. The men were about to pull their guns on my family, but Matt calmed them down.

"They intercepted us." One of them stated.

"More like we put a tracker in every member of our family." Dom spoke.

I knew what he was saying was bullshit, but his bluff was really good. Matt must've tipped them off about our location. I still was pissed at him and this wouldn't make up for everything. One of the men called Kate to report the incident and based on her tone, she was furious. I ignored them and approached Dante, who wrapped me in a tight hug. I sniffled against his chest as I tried to control my tears.

"Everything will be okay." He kissed my head. "I'll make sure of it."

"What's the meaning of abducting her?!" Dom demanded. "We want answers."

"It's none of your concern." Matt spoke.

"Matthew, you're a member of my pack. I'm your alpha and I demand you-"

"I'm leaving your pack." Our eyes widened at his words. "I'm more loyal to the safety of everyone in this realm than one pack."

"I hate you." I sneered before waking into the living room. Dom and some of the personnel followed me. "How is she?"

"She doesn't know." My eyes widened since I thought they'd inform Zena. "We didn't want to tell her without asking your permission and getting a better understanding of the situation." Dom sighed. "We didn't know what was going on, so we wanted to get a better understanding of the situation before contacting the vamp-"

"No contacting them." One of them spoke. "That would be interfering with the investigation. If you contact them, you'll be apprehended."

"What?!" Dom and I snapped.

"You heard him." Matt entered. "We don't need people knowing-"

"That means you don't have a probable case-"

"I'd stop if I were you." Matt walked forward. "Don't threaten, Mia." He whispered. "Everything you say can and will be used against you."

"Want to read me my rights?" I asked through gritted teeth.

"Mia, don't make this more difficult than it has to be." He sighed.

"You took my wife and the mother of my children. I'll be feral and more problematic than an ill tempered child." I spat.

"I'm sorry, Mia. But the evidence that you found on her is crippling and-"

"Don't remind me." I harshly brushed his shoulder and went upstairs.

Security personnel tried to follow me into a room. My glare stopped them in place before I slammed the door in their face. I sat on the bed before flopping onto my back. I covered my face with my hands as I felt so lost. I desperately tried using the mindlink, but it wasn't working now and who blocked it?! Lara! Where are you and are you okay?! I felt so helpless. I needed my wife.

I heard a knock on my door and ignored it. Matt slowly opened the door before closing it. I ignored him and sadly stared out the window.

"Mia-"

"You don't understand, Matt." I sniffled and looked down. "I... I can't feel her." I brokenly whimpered, causing his shoulders to fall. "I don't know how she is. If she's okay. I... I can't feel her, Matt." I bawled.

"Mia, I'm sorry." He wrapped me in a hug. "I'm so, so sorry this is happening to you."

"A part of me is missing. There's a hole in my chest and I don't feel complete. I feel vulnerable and-"

Matt and I stiffened when we heard a loud bang downstairs. We quickly ran down the stairs to see the front door blown off. The security had their guns aimed at the door as we waited for the person to enter. My breath hitched and a relieved smile fell upon my face when Alec entered. The security was even more on edge with his arrival. I looked past him to see Alena.

"Alec." Matt slowly spoke. "Jus-"

"WHERE IS MY SISTER?!" He roared. Everyone flinched since Alec was just like Lara in that they rarely yelled.

The security tightened their holds on the handle. Their guns were aimed and ready to fire once Matt gave the signal. Alec's eyes were pitch black as he stepped forwards.

"Alec." Matt raised his hands in a surrendering fashion. He aimed his gun at the ceiling while slowly placing it on the ground. "They will shoot if you come closer."

"You think your puny silver bullets scare me? They won't be enough to take me down." Alec dared Matt.

"Lower your weapons." Mart ordered the men. They looked like they wanted to argue, but Matt reiterated. "He will attack. Lower them." The men scoffed before lowering their weapons.

"Now, I ask once more, WHERE IS MY SISTER?!"

"Alec, she's-"

"I'll murder all of you without breaking a sweat. Now tell me!" He demanded.

"She was taken by Interpol based on confounding evidence linking her to a series of abductions. Now, I know you won't-"

"We're getting a lawyer." Alec turned to his mother.

"That's the thing." Matt got their attention. "This is supernatural Interpol and they operate very differently from any organization here. Your rights aren't the same there."

"We're leaving." Alena glared at Matt and turned her back to us. 'That means you too, Mia." She spoke over her shoulder.

"Let's go." Alec held his hand out to me.

"She can't leave." Matt blocked me from their field of vision. "By leaving, she'll be hampering an investigation and will be tired as a convict. If she steps out of this room with anyone, but us... they'll consider her an accomplice."

"They?" Alec walked to Matt. "Or you?" Alec had to look up since Matt was much taller, but that didn't mean Alec wasn't intimidating.

Alec began to argue with Matt and his volume significantly increased. The personnel were focused on the exchange since they were anxiously waiting to pull the trigger on my brother-in-law. I glanced to see Alena's jaw clenched in anger. She was just as enraged as Alec, but allowed her son/ the King to take over. Alena felt my gaze and flitted her eyes at me.

I then remembered a time when I was cuddling with Lara and she muttered a foreign phrase to me. I had never heard the language before, so she told me it was Gaelic or old Irish. Lara said her mom used to teach her and Alec some Irish when they were younger. Because of that, I had her teach me some of the language. I was also really curious about the language, so I taught myself the language.

"Inis dom le do thoil go bhfuil plean agat." (Please tell me you have a plan) I muttered, but Alena's supernatural hearing picked it up.

Alec had stiffened, signaling that he heard and understood it as well. However, Alec made no indication of hearing the exchange and argued even more. I think he was trying to distract Matt and the others while I spoke with Alena.

"Chuir Hailey glaoch orainn ar maidin go raibh Lara imithe chun tú a fheiceáil agus nár tháinig sí ar ais. Bhí rudaí aimsithe aici a chuir imní uirthi faoi Lara a bheith á tógáil, agus mar sin theastaigh uaithi go n-aimseofaí thú láithreach bonn le cinntiú go raibh tú sábháilte." (Hailey called us this morning that Lara had gone to see you and had not returned. She had found things that worried her about Lara being picked up, so she wanted you to be found immediately to make sure you were safe) Alena muttered.

"Rinne siad hack isteach ar mo ghuthán agus sheol siad teachtaireacht chuici chun í a bhaoite go dtí áit iargúlta. Ansin d'fhuadaigh siad í le heolas gur mheall siad mé le tiomsú ina coinne. Tá an-brón orm." (They hacked into my phone and sent her a message to bait her to a remote location. Then they kidnapped her with the knowledge that they tricked me into compiling against her. I am very sorry) I began to tear up.

"Don't cry." Alena's eyes softened as she whispered.

"She's communicating with them!" One of the security pushed me down.

"Hey!" Alec barked. "Don't put your hands on my sister-in-law!" He grabbed the guy by the collar and pinned him to the wall. "You hear me!" His eyes were void of color and his fangs were on display.

"Alec." Matt managed to get Alec to release the guy. "We can't let her leave. If you really love her like you say, you'll let her stay. And the investigation will be run and your sister may be innocent-"

"She is." Alec seethed.

"Sure. She-"

"Listen here." Alena stepped in front of Alec. "You're holding my daughter in an undisclosed location based on forged information. I will not implicate myself because that would mean I wouldn't be able to properly assist my daughter. Now, I will say that if you dare abuse my child, I'll personally find you. Rip your spine out, saw your limbs off, pluck out your eyes, and make you choke on your own tongue. Hold my daughter until you get solid evidence that she's innocent if you must. But do not antagonize or harm my kid. Understand?" Everyone gulped since Alena said it in such a calm tone that it made it more terrifying. "And remember... I was married to Joaquin so I know what real torture looks like. Let's go, Alec." Alena placed a gentle hand on her son's back and guided him outside. "And do not worry, Mia. Lara always has a plan." She winked before they sped away.

I walked away from the group and went to the living room. The reality of everything came crashing down on me. How was I supposed to tell my two girls that their mother was taken and it was my fault? Zena is going to hate me. I gripped my hair as I tried to figure out how to do it. She needed to know and... wait! They better not think of using my kid as leverage. I sat up with a start, startling the group.

"Matt, is she-"

"She will not be." Matt knew where I was going with this. "They wouldn't know what to look for." So that means they don't know what Zena or Yeira look like. That makes me feel slightly better. "And I'll personally see that Lara isn't harmed. I'm going to travel there and if you need anything. Don't hesitate to-"

"Just go." I dismissed him. "This relationship right here..." I gestured between us. "Is dead." I spoke with conviction, shocking him. "So leave." I growled.

Matt tried to speak some more, but I ignored him. He ended up sighing before leaving. The other personnel would try speaking to me, but my glare shut them up. I wonder if Hailey told Zena yet or if Alec and Alena will tell her. I know they'd be watching her. And it infuriates me since a part of the deal with my retirement was that my personal file would be destroyed and I'd live off the grid. That means there wouldn't be anything about my family. I trusted Matt and he betrayed me.

Alec and Alena don't have a plan to save Lara. They alluded to her having a plan, but what plan? Surely, she didn't know about the setup or possibility of being captured. So how could she have a plan? Lara and I always made plans together. We would come up with a strategy and then enact it. And most of the time, I'd come up with the plan and she'd try to find faults in it. I don't know how she can come up with a plan by hers- oh, I got it. I know what her plan is. I chuckled to myself as I thought about that cunning little bitch's plan.

Me. I was the plan. She knows I'm going to come up with something. And she isn't wrong.
