Althea

Warmth was what I felt.

Don't think I forgot, I remember every single thing that happened last night, Nate's a monster, Malcom knew, and betrayed our family, and this whole thing is a mess.

I didn't realise the different bed I woke up from, when I stood up, and stumbled into a wall, thinking the interior of the room was just like mine. I looked around, the walls were painted baby blue, a desk at the corner, and obviously the king size bed with a silk blanket. It was strange, I didn't panic.

"Thea, you're awake" a gentle voice caught me off guard, I turned around and saw Melanie smiling, and holding Manny, he was drooling and waving his hands all around the place. "Melanie? W-What?" I grew frustrated, why was she with me, and where are all those men?

"Hey... calm down for a second, come I made some food for you, we'll talk all about it" Melanie rubbed my shoulder, and gestured me to follow her. I'm no interior designer or expert, but this house was amazing.

The hallway was a plain white colour with family photos. I didn't see Melanie in any of them, they must've been her parents or stock photos, the hallway led to a decent size living room, a black couch in the middle, as the tv hung from the wall. Melanie put Manny into his rocking bed, and I followed her further into the kitchen. A big kitchen island separated the seats, and stove.

She pulled out a little plate and placed...

Baked peaches?!

My eyes widened, Melanie chuckled, "Thanks to Nate I know what your favourite snack is" she said, and pushed the plate forward. I tried to be nice at the moment, but the mention of Nate in that moment had my blood boiling, "Nate doesn't know anything about me" I coldly said, and took a bite of the peach. I tried my hardest not to moan at the delicious savoury taste of sugar. Melanie looked at me, she had that motherly concerned look.

"After you passed out...Lenny and Nate took you here, we're two hours away from town, it's safer for you to stay here with us, and of course you don't have to see Nate if you don't want to, I was too scared when I found out about Lenny killing people" Melanie sighed, and looked at Manny in the rocking bed. I sighed and dropped the fork, loosing my appetite, "Why aren't they in jail?", I angrily asked, Melanie knowing my anger and my harsh tone, she nodded and sat down to answer my question.

"Well... it's not my place to tell you, so I'm only going to say that your father worked for Nate's father, and betrayed him, and knew about Nate's killing spree, he didn't want tell the police because Malcom is Malcom, and he wanted to see how Nate progresses" Melanie gulped, "Nate and Lenny are very smart men, they've framed other criminals for their murders, and disposed of the bodies really well" Melanie said, and looked at me.

I raised my eyebrows, "Why do you sound like you're defending them! Melanie they're monsters!" I yelled, but not loud enough to bother Manny, Melanie sighed, "because if I snitched on them, I would've been dead, and I love Lenny..." she said, feeling guilty.

I think anyone in this situation would want to just shut everyone and everything out, and think.

I sighed once more, "Yea Whatever, I'd rather be dead" I said, and walked away, back into the room where I woke up in. Melanie didn't fight it, she let me be.

I tucked myself in the blankets, and thought.

Thought about my mother.

Thought about my feelings.

Thought about what would have happened if I didn't draw Nate, If I just waited until my mother would have let me go out on my own. I was so desperate.

Thought about if Nate's feelings were real.

"Stupid" I whispered, and fell asleep.

Nate

"Yea Whatever I'd rather be dead" she said. I officially broke her. But no feeling of killing was found in my body, I actually wanted to mend her fragile heart.

Lenny and I were coming back from getting supplies when, we overheard Melanie speaking with Thea, I decided to hide behind the wall, while Lenny was carrying the bags. I heard everything.

I'm a monster.

And I deserve to be called a monster. The look in her eyes were so dead. When her footsteps faded, I was caught in a trance.

"Dude... just let her be, she'll come around soon" Lenny whispered, and walked to Melanie kissing her, and trying to maintain his hormones. I scoffed and quietly walked to my room. I live with Lenny and Melanie when I'm out of town, but now I'm staying here for good, I can't go back there, neither can Thea, it's too dangerous for us.

I slowly walked passed Thea's now bedroom, it was supposed to be Manny's nursery, but Lenny said he'd rather Manny sleep in his room with Melanie. It was excruciating to walk pass the door, knowing she doesn't want to see my face ever again.

Her mother. I went by the hospital today, to tell her everything and try to make her understand, but they had sent her to another state, she had gotten worse. I wanted to tell Thea, but I don't have the guts to tell her. I don't think I'll ever will.

I laid on my bed, tucking my hands under my head, I looked up at the ceiling, it reminded me of the night, Thea and I stayed up together.

"Don't leave me even if I betray you"

We're my exact words.

I mentally face palmed myself, I fucking hated myself. I got up and grunted, opening my door aggressively, I stomped my way to the kitchen, but just as I was walking pass Thea's room her door opened.

There she was.

You could clearly see her visible red puffy eyes, she had been crying.

My heart started to pump out of my chest, I gulped I opened my mouth to say something but immediately shut it.

Thea didn't even look at me, her eyes were at my chest, she moved and walked straight past me, like I was invisible.

For the first time, I had an ache in my chest.

I'm not going to say poor Nate, because I think he deserves this silent treatment :)
