Kelly

"Damn, where she been. I thought her fast ass dropped out". I heard someone whisper. I ignored it and kept it pushing. I didn't come to argue and fight. I've missed 2 months of school.

I'm surprised they haven't expelled my ass yet, Mr. Gerno probably wouldn't let that happen though. He probably think I'm having a rough spot with my mom again.

I walked to my locker and put my hand on the lock. "Fuck". I said not knowing what my code is. I forgot it.

I looked around and sighed. Everyone was going into their class due to third bell ringing.

"Girl y'all always leaving and when y'all come back , you be limping like you pimping". I heard someone say, followed by laughter.

I looked behind me and my heart dropped when I seen Courtney. She looked at me and her mouth dropped. "Kelly? Oh my fucking god! Bestfriend". She ran over to me and hugged me tight as ever. This girl must have been working out because she was squeezing the hell out of me.

"Courtney , too tight". I said wincing. The bruise I had on my side was still hurting. She let go and looked at me weird. "Kelly why you got these shades on? And where have you been! I been looking for you. Your grandmas been worried, nicks been worried, warren beens worried, of course I've been worried, even Woowoo!"

Jenny walked up, clearing her throat. I looked at her and nodded my head. "Wassup Jenny"

"Hey, Courtney I'll head to class. Miss.Keep be on my ass when I'm late. See y'all later". She began walking off.

"Oh yeah, her and Woowoo are a thing now". Courtney looked at me weird like I was supposed to be mad. I had other things on my mind though.

"Wait? You said my grandma? I thought her ass was dead! She's alive?"  Courtney looked shocked with all these questions. I calmed down and took a breath. "Is she good?"

Courtney nodded. "Yeah...no....well...she's in the hospital, that day you found her on the floor she had a seizure. She just had another one the other day so she's back in there. Man, a lots been going on kelly. Where have you been?"

I bit my lip, trying to come up with a excuse. Nothing could come to mind so I decided to just change the subject. "Hey, do you remember my code?"

"So, have you decided what you wanted to do for your birthday?" Courtney asked as we walked out of the building. The rest of the day went fast, I did come for the last hours though.

"I don't know, probably just chill. Just another day". I shrugged squinting at the bright sun. It was too hot for a jacket so I unzipped mines and took it off.

"Damn!" I heard Courtney say. "When the fuck did you get that?"

I looked down and seen she was talking about my tattoo. It was the one I wanted jr to do, but instead of him doing it I had someone else do it.

Only because Harry left a big ass bruise right there that wasn't going away.

"Last month I think". I said throwing my jacket in my purse. Courtney stood back and took a look at me. "Girl, you getting thick. And look at you getting a little gut"

She poked my stomach a little and furrowed her eyebrows. "why yo stomach so hard? You constipated?"

I shook my head and felt around my stomach. It was a little hard, I couldn't push down like I wanted.

"Bitch don't tell me yo-"

"Nykell?" I heard someone say. I turned and seen it was the principal. He looked at me and smiled. "Where have you been? I was getting worried."

We gave each other a quick hug. "I've been gone for a little, I guess I'm back now".

"You guess? Kelly do you know how much trouble I've put myself in trying to keep you In the record! They've been trying to kick you out the first 2 weeks you've been absent"

I nodded." Sorry Mr.Gerno, I lost track of time"

He chuckled."You think? Well you just make sure you bring your ass here for the next couple weeks of school. As long as you pass I keep my job and you promote to 11th grade."

"Yes sir". I said saluting him. He laughed. "Nice to have you back". After he patted my shoulder he went to tend to those bad ass freshman's.

I looked over it Courtney and seen she was talking to warren, Jenny, and Woowoo.

I was excited to see warren. But Jenny and woowoo? No no.

I slowly walked over and plastered a smile on my face. "Hey guys".

"Oh shit". Warren said jumping. "Is you a ghost? Kelly where the fuck yo bean headed ass been? Girl we thought you fell off the face of earth. You know Woowoo crazy about you Hey was about to go knock niggas heads off looking for you".

I chuckled. "Warren don't start being disrespectful". Jenny said rolling her eyes. I looked over at them, she was sitting on Woowoo's lap running her hand over his waves. I caught him looking at me , causing me to look away.

"Im good warren". Courtney smiled. "Bestfriend I'm happy you in one piece. You still got those damn shades on though. What's up?"

I shook my head. "Allergies"

My phone began ringing. I looked down and seen it was Harry's ugly ass. I sucked my teeth and declined it. But he called again, and again, and again"

"Alright y'all I'm about to head out". I said grabbing my purse. I got my keys out.

"Wait, kelly. You driving?" Courtney said smiling. I nodded and hit the locked to my 2018 Malibu.

"Damn you rolling nice". Warren said clapping his hands. "You selling dope?"

Courtney hit his head. "Don't be saying that out loud". She looked at me. "Make sure you call me, you know what, can I come with you?".

I was about to say yes until Harry blew up my phone again."I'm kinda in a rush right now, maybe another time".

She pouted. "Yeah I hear you. Make sure you call me princess! I'm not playing, and you better come to school tomorrow. Oh yeah and unblock me from Facebook"

I blew her a kiss."I got you bestie, bye y'all" I waved to everyone and began walking off.

"Aye princess". I stopped and closed my eyes. Hearing his voice did something to me. I turned around. "What prince?"

"Call me dude, deadass. We got some shit to talk about. Aight?" I tilted my head. "Yeah. Okay"

I continued walking, what could his ass want?

Allyssa

I sat in the living room watching bubble guppies. Mommy and Kayden was in the room sleep, it was just me up.

I was waiting for Courtney to get home.

This new house feels weird. It's big, and spacious. The apartment was homey. This feels awkward.

I sung along with one of the sing along songs and brushed my Barbie bratz head. I popped her with the brush. "Be still girl, always moving"

I heard a knock on the door. I know my mom always told me to come and get her when someone's at the door, because I never could now who it is. But we not in the projects nomore. There's nothing to worry about.

I paused the tv and tiptoed to the door for she wouldn't hear me. I unlocked the door and swung it open.

*pow pow pow

"Aw shit, that's a little girl bro!" I heard someone say. I couldn't move, or speak. It was hard for me to breath too.

I heard footsteps like they were running away.

"Allyssa! Lyssa! Oh my god baby". My mom sobbed. She grabbed me and looked me in my eyes. "Stay up baby okay? Mommies here. I got you princess. Do you hear me?"

She got up and ran to her phone. She came back with it to her ear.

"Hello? Yes my daughter has just been shot!"

I couldn't stay up nomore, my eyes were tired.

I closed them.
