Jason

I was awoken from my slumber by a loud siren coming from my father's room. I heard many voices panicking and footsteps moving back and forth from my room.

"CODE 42 CODE 42!" Lady Durant's voice echoed through the speaker of our home.

Code 42? In all my few hundred years of living, I've never heard a code 42 before.

Annoyed that it might be some false alarm/practice alarm, I got up, and walked out the room to go tell everyone to calm down and return to their rooms.

I was greeted by crying families who resided at our home, panicked police officials and freaked out council members as well as simpleton house members.

As I scanned the room, I spotted Hunter across the hall who looked just as confused as me.

"Hunter!" I called out to him.

I ran over to him and he looked greatly annoyed.

"I can never fucking rest in peace. Its always something in this fucking hell hole." He complained.

"What's code 42?" I assumed Hunter would know being that he has been living longer than I.

"I don't know, never heard of it." He shrugged.

"Prince Jason, and Hunter!" Sir Caleb the cleaner came running towards us. "Your father is asking for you two. Quick! You have to hurry!"

Caleb's eyes were completely dilated and I can smell the fear radiating off of him.

Hunter and I ran towards my fathers office, and was greeted by a large crowd of panicked police officials and council members. My father stood in the middle of all this looking calm as ever. But I can read that something good is not occurring.

Whatever is happening is bad.

Has someone figured us out?

Millions of thoughts ran around my head. I assumed that Rue said something, but I knew she wouldn't. She couldn't.

Someone else probably exposed us.

"He's coming back. And he's coming back soon and will be out for vengeance." My father vaguely announced to those in the room.

He?

I looked at Hunter who was in complete shock. His eyes were wide, his mouth was open. However, I couldn't sense any emotion.

"So they weren't lying." He said softly

"Hunter?" I questioned. "Do you know what's going on?"

"No. I genuinely don't, but I overheard your father talking about this 'him' with some of the council members a few years ago. I never forgot the conversation, but I never thought to share the details of it because I didn't think it was important."

I stayed silent and listened as he spoke some more.

"About 13 years ago they stuck a stake in this dude that left him unconscious. A regular stake wasn't able to kill him because he's so powerful. I'm sure there's more to it but I haven't heard that far. He pretty much betrayed us. Apparently once the feral outbreak occurred, he sided with the human government and threatened to expose our race to get rid of us because we were a danger to society. But if this happened 13 years ago, why don't I remember any of this?" He placed his fingers on the bridge of his nose. "Also, it contradicts everything your father once stood for."

I don't remember any of this either.

"Are you sure you heard the conversation right?" I was reluctant to believe the words that came out his mouth.

"I am sure, but this all makes no sense."

My father's booming voice cut Hunter off.

"Everyone please remain calm!" My father announced.

The chattering voices stopped and the room fell silent.

"We have nothing to fear. I know the announcement of this seems frightening, but we all have to stick together. Imagine each of us against one. We have been preparing for his awakening for years since his presumed demise. Imagine how hard we've worked these past 13 years. He's not awake yet, but when he does awake please be prepared! He will come back with a vengeance plan and possibly aim to kill all of us. We will fight this traitor and we will once and for all defeat him!"

A few people in the crowd cheered, yet a few hands were raised.

" King, thats not the only issue that shadows us. With this man awakening, and the growing disaster of the ferals, we won't stand a chance!"

That's right. We still don't know who's turning people into ferals.

My father claims he has been keeping a watch on every council member and every possible suspect. Unfortunately, his power reaches so far that the amount of people he can watch is limited.

"I have an idea who's turning random humans into ferals so that issue will soon be above us." He answered the question.

A sigh of relief came from the crowd.

"But sir," a soft voice said. "We can't kill him."

"We couldn't back then. But we know how to achieve so now. We can't discuss that with you guys, but trust me, we can."

"What about the people who aren't in this room right now sir, how will we tell them about the news?" A woman asked.

"As of now, only you-the ones close to me-will receive the truth. As for the people, please just tell them that this was a false alarm and to remain calm, the truth will be revealed to them soon."

A few more questions came about before my father dismissed everyone, telling them to stay on guard.

When the room was clear of everyone besides my father, Hunter, and I, I locked the doors and walked up to my father.

"Tell us what the fuck your talking about old man, and why can't I remember blank shit about it." Hunter demanded.

"Hunter, calm down."

Father gave us a look that I couldn't read before turning around and staring at the wall. He pressed some buttons which moved the walls and opened up a path to some secret area.

"You'll feel the same as I, eventually." He said.

I've never seen this room before.

"Father?" I asked.

"The fuck is this." Hunter said.

"Stop cussing in front of father Hunter." I told him not wanting him to get into trouble.

"Shut the fuck up you fucking pussy."

"Follow me boys." He had his back towards us and began walking down the path.

A weird, cold, and uncertain feeling came down my spine as we walked deeper and deeper down the dark path.

We entered a room with a dusty old box in the middle of it. The box's chains seemed to be broken and the box had a soft bright light escaping from it. The room was also making continuous rumbling sounds that sent shivers down my spine.

For the first time in my life, I actually felt scared.

"Who is that, and why are you showing us this?" I wondered.

"We've had to wipe the memories away of all of you." My father said ignoring my question.

What?

"What the fuck are you talking about!" Hunter was clearly getting upset.

"13 years ago. This man right here,"

Hunter cut him off, "Don't fucking worry about telling us I heard you talking about it a while ago."

"This man betrayed us 13 years ago as well as years before that. His awakening is a high threat to us as a race. He was a human loving bastard. He hated who he was, he wanted to get rid of us-all of us."

"But why did you wipe away our memories?" I asked trying to remain calm.

Samuel wiped away my memories once, but it seems that my memories were wiped again another time. I don't appreciate people messing with my mind.

His eyes darted back and forth, his hands went behind his back, and he began swaying on his feet.

"He did some things, some really unwholesome things. I wish I could tell you but, we had to take away the memories of you and the civilians because it caused a damaging effect on your mental health."

"But the police force and house members were able to remember?" I said annoyed.

Does this mean he doesn't trust us? If I am his son who is next up to be King, and Hunter is from the bloodline of the first vampire, how can he not trust us?

"What does that even mean?" Hunter questioned.

"It means he hurt us, and he hurt us badly."

He's lying.

One thing that I learned from Dani is that when someone is lying, their eyes wander, their hands are placed a certain way, and he's moving because he's nervous. He's figuring out an excuse.

I was too scared to call him out on his bs. I didn't want to lose my honor, and I did not want him to hate me. So I pretended to take his word.

"So who is he?" I asked.

He sighed. "Francis Russo."

That name did not ring a bell. I never heard of a Francis Russo.

Considering he fucking wiped away our memories of him, no fucking shit Jason.

"Can we see him?" I pointed.

"Yes. But please be careful son, we are unsure of when he will awaken from this slumber. The stake only did so much."

He slowly opened the casket revealing the man with a regular wooden stake in his heart. He looked nearly dead. His skin was extremely greenish-pale. There were cracks in his skin, dried up blood where the stake rested. There were also some webs formed around his body and some bugs.

I gagged. The sight was disgusting.

"How come he hasn't disintegrated. Why didn't the stake kill him."

"If I tell you, that would result in you questioning everything you once knew." My father looked at the ground, avoiding eye contact with both Hunter and I.

What does he even mean by that? He basically implied that he's already lying about something.

"But you saying that already gives me that question." I said in a duh tone.

"I- Son, I'll tell you soon, now is not the time."

"What the fuck you do mean now is not the time." Hunter grew with clear frustration. "This man right here will be crowned King soon," He pointed towards me. "There should be no soon and there should be no reason why you're hiding anything from him."

"But why tell us this now?" I questioned.

"Let's leave." He closed the casket all the way, only for it to revert back to the cracked position it was originally in.

"What?" I breathed out, confused.

He gave Hunter and I one last glance before walking out leaving us there, alone.

I had this sudden urge to look back at the man in the casket to get a clearer look of him to see if I recognized him from somewhere. But what if it's a trick? Why would father just walk out leaving the casket unattended to us.

"Fuck it." I said aloud.

I looked towards the exit to make sure he was gone.

I looked at Hunter and I knew we were thinking of the same thing.

"Your dad is lying about something and this man is the key to finding out if not the whole truth, some of the truth." Hunter told me

"We can't wake him up yet though. We don't know what he'd do to us, or to anyone." I glanced at the casket. "Besides, like father said he might be vengeful."

"You're right, but I want one last look before we depart." Hunter and I slowly walked towards the casket.

With force we both lifted up the casket.

I looked at the man's face for a while until it came to me. And what came to me was utterly shocking.

The man resembled someone. He resembled the brother of someone that I feel attached to.

Jeff.

"Hunter, where is Samuel? I need to speak to him now."

From here on now, the plot will get very graphic, and complex. If you are confused please notify me so I can help with the confusion. I realized the complexity of this could've been avoided if I just written in 3rd person

To help you understand. What you know now is not may not be true
