Just for reference Alexander= King he will be referred to as Alexander in this chapter, but from Rues perspective, he will be called 'King'.

Rue

"What are you doing here?" I said behind clenched teeth.

"I'm just here to have dinner with this very lovely lady I met the other night. Who knew she could be your mother." He smiled at my mother as if she was a snack and he wanted to eat her.

"Oh?" My mother said, confused. "I didn't know you two knew each other."

"Yes we know each other alright." I scoffed.

King and Haley walked into my house as if they lived here. And with each step they took coming further into my home, the more rage I felt.

This is wrong. This is completely wrong. They have to be here for a reason, there's no other reason they'd be here. They literally just tried to kill me a few days ago.

"Rue, can you go show Alexander's daughter around while we go set up the table?" My moms normally low pitched voice appeared higher this time.

It made me feel nauseous.

"No." I placed my hands in my back pocket.

"Rue." She warned.

I sucked my teeth in annoyance. "Whatever."

I'm not doing that shit.

I watched intently as King and my mom walked towards the dining room.

When they were out of view, I turned towards Haley and began glaring at her.

"What do you want?" I spat.

She shrugged and looked around my living room. "Oh, nothing.". Her tone was extremely mocking.

"You don't speak to me like that in my house, bitch." I wasn't going to hold back against this girl after the torture she's put me through.

If she and King are planning something, I am going to figure it out.

"Okay, I apologize, Rue." She sarcastically held her hands up in defense and slyly smirked at me.

I took my left hand out of my pocket and forced her against the wall.

"Listen you fucking bitch." I gripped her neck harder. "You or King touch my mother I swear, I will rip your head off so fucking fast-."

She cut me off. "Like you did to those little boys right?"

My grip loosened on her as I didn't expect her to say that. She got out of my grip and walked to the other side of me.

"Oh, you thought I didn't know about that huh. Maybe learn to control your temper sometime." She chuckled.

I glared hard at her as she walked to my couch and threw herself on it as if she lived here.

"Very comfortable couch. May I ask, is this your fathers, or your mothers."

I decided against making small talk with her and pulled my phone out of my coat pocket.

I have to text Jeff. He has to tell dad that he needs to come over here and end this now. This isn't safe for me, or my mom.

Especially my mom.

But as I pulled out my phone, Haley ended up in front of me, quickly snatched my phone, and threw it to the ground.

"Oops." She shrugged.

"You bitch!" I shouted as I punched her right in her lower jaw.

I watched as she flew to the further end of the living room- body slamming hard against the wall.

A glass made picture which contained my mom, Jeff and I from a few years ago fell to her right side breaking in pieces.

My mom came rushing into the living room to see what just occurred. I turned away from her, knowing I probably entered my vampire state.

"What's going on in here!" She gasped. "Rue what did you do!"

I heard her footsteps scurry towards Haley who immediately did an Oscar-winning performance pretending to be injured.

"Oh my god Hayley I am so sorry. Rue, she has a really bad temper sometimes, but she's learning how to control it." Mom explained.

"No, no, don't worry about it." She grunted in pain. "I have sisters so I deal with a whole lot worse."

I turned around after I calmed down and saw my mom helping Hayley up.

She turned around and shot daggers into my eyes before giving Haley her attention.

"Would you like a glass of water, anything?" She began to ask her.

As mom began bombarding with questions, to my far left I spotted King staring at me with an unreadable expression. He looked towards my mom, transformed into his vampire state, then looked back at me and transformed back to his human state. He then licked his lips, and smirked, before walking backwards into the kitchen.

I swear I felt my heart jump out of my chest at that interaction. No words were exchanged, but based on that, I knew he was planning something devious.

He's going to break me—break me the easiest way possible. He's going after the one thing he knows my father loves and will sacrifice himself for. My mother.

I need to escape, I need to leave.

The ringing in my ear became louder and louder, but halted when my mom smacked me upside the head.

"Let's go." She told me in a low tone.

I avoided eye contact with her as I followed her into the dining area.

The further we entered, the stronger a sweet aroma filled into my nose. It smelt like food that my mom has never made before.

I felt my stomach growl and mouth water as the scent became unbearably strong.

"Wow." I Gaped in awe at how clean it was here.

Of course it had always been very clean in my dining room, but my mom actually cleaned it up- cleaned it up. You could literally see the table shining. She also decorated the area with tons of flowers, and vintage items that I never knew we even had.

Does she like Jason's dad?

She can't like him. There's no way she likes this man. A woman would only dress up as she did, decorate and clean the house if they liked someone.

"Mom, can I please talk to you." I whispered to her.

"No, please sit down, I will prepare the plates." My mother smiled.

She was speaking to me like a stranger at this point. My mom never spoke to me this way, she usually spoke to me like a friend, or like a parent with a very close mother daughter bond.

I'm beginning to feel like a guest in my own home.

If only she knew what she is involved in now.

I began considering if I should tell her those risks. Tell her that dad is alive, tell her that I'm aware of my true being, and tell her that King and Haley are both vampires seeking to destroy my dad.

I should tell her that they want to start by breaking his spirit- hurting everyone she loves.

"I would not do that if I were you, Rue." King's hot breath shielded around my ear.

I felt shivers move down my spine as I realized how close he was, and the fact that he was in my head.

"You know," With the claw on his finger, he began starching my neck. "If you tell her, I won't hesitate to kill her , and you right here, right now."

My eyes widened in horror at his threat.

"What's your motive?" I said softly while trying to keep a solid tone.

"Motive? I just want to get to know the wife of the man who I want dead." He chuckled in my ear.

"For what reason exactly." I looked in the direction of the kitchen, hoping my mom wouldn't walk in on this.

I gripped the table in the hope that it would calm me down a bit.

"That's not for you to know." He pulled back from me, and went to go sit at the other side of the table, diagonal from where I was sitting.

Soon after my mom came in with 3 plates. One balancing on her head, one in her right arm, and the other in her left arm.

"Oh no Jamie, don't carry those yourself , you should've asked for some help." King put on the fakest tone ever as he scurried out his seat to help my mom with the plates.

I rolled my eyes in disgust and looked At Haley who avoided eye contact with me. I noticed she had a bruise on her chin that wasn't healing right away.

"Hmph." I said out loud.

Hayley, possibly knowing why I made that noise, pulled up the color of her jacket in an attempt to cover the bruise.

Hayley is obviously a vampire, there's no doubt considering she's been alive for hundreds of years and she is Jason's baby mother. So why is she not healing?

I looked down at my fist to find any abnormalities, but it looked fine to me.

I shrugged it off thinking her bruise might heal soon enough.

King and my mom placed each of the plates on the table and my mom went back to get another plate for herself.

She prepared (describe food)

When she came back to sit at the table, the state of the room began to feel awkward.

Hayley and King were picking at their food deciding on what to eat first. I could tell that they never even tried to eat human food. I mean, of course they wouldn't. They're vampires and it wouldn't fulfill their needs, but if I was a FULL vampire and lived for hundreds of years, there's no doubt I would have tried to eat some human food. Even as a sport.

"Thank you for the meal." I told my mom.

"You're welcome." She sent me a nod.

"Well Alexander, have you ever had (NAME OF FOOD) before?" Mom asked King.

"No, I actually haven't." He smiled. "This is extremely new to me."

"Well then," Mom clapped her hands together. "Eat up!"

Hayley and King looked at each other with unreadable expressions before King looked at his watch, sent her a slight nod, and began eating.

"Wow." Hayley moaned. "This is very good. It reminds me of when I was a child."

I rolled my eyes as I watched her eat the food like an animal. A very ugly animal.

"So, Hayley and Rue, I supposed due to your earlier interactions that you know each other?" My mom said.

"Yes that's correct Mrs. Watson, we were actually best friends in our younger days." Hayley beamed.

I frowned at her response. "No we weren't."

"Okay maybe frenemies. I mean we do have the same interests." She said.

"And that is."

"Jason." She smirked.

I dropped my fork and studied her expressions.

There has to be a reason why she's bringing him up. She is doing this to get under my skin, she wants to catch me off guard.

"Oh Jason! I feel like I haven't seen him in forever! Rue, how is he?" Mom piped up.

I assume my mom had no clue that the man sitting across from her is Jason's dad even though they look exactly the same.

I shrugged. "We aren't on the best terms right now."

I figured there's nothing to hide about Jason in front of his dad. If I made it seem like I was on good terms with him, maybe he'd try to attack me as he did last time because I do recall him saying that his purpose of kidnapping me was to reclaim Jason.

"What happened?" Mom asked.

"I don't want to get into it." I stuffed a spoon of rice into my mouth. "Anyways, let's start with you mother. How did you and Alexander meet."

"Well, I did tell you he returned your phone two days ago. I bumped into him again yesterday at the grocery store and we chatted for a bit, then agreed to have him and his daughter come over for dinner."

I snorted at her response. DAUGHTER? This girl is pretending to be King's daughter. My snort then became soft rhythmic laughter. It eventually became louder with more force, until I slowly calmed down and stopped laughing.

"Why is that funny?" King questioned.

"Mom he doesn't look like anyone to you?" I pointed at King.

Tell her and I'll snatch her heart out right here and now. King sent a message to my head.

I sucked my teeth and leaned back in my seat.

Mom looked towards him, and they stared at each other for a while before turning back to me.

"I mean, I do sort of get young Ian Somerhalder vibes from him." My mom wiped her mouth with a napkin.

"Never mind." I look down at my legs.

The rest of the night was very awkward. Small talk between mom, King, and Hayley continued, while I avoided speaking.

I chose to stop talking because of two things: 1. I didn't want to say the wrong thing 2. I was closing off my head so King won't get into it as I was thinking of a plan to make sure they never see my mom again.

After dinner my mom wished King and Hayley a goodnight and I watched in the background making sure they didn't try anything slick.

Once they left my mom turned around and frowned at me.

"Why are you like this?" She said.

"Why am I like what?" I played stupid.

"You punched that girl in the face, and you were rude throughout the whole dinner."

"I don't like them mom. I really don't."

"Did you and Hayley fight over Jason?" A slight smirk drew upon her face.

I shook my head.

"Did she win him over?"

She did more than win him over.

"No." I half-lied. "She's just a complete bitch."

"Oh." My mom looked around the living room and towards the glass picture which shattered on the floor.

"How did you punch her so hard, I could have sworn you were standing right here when Alexander and I went into the kitchen." I felt a weird energy radiating off my mom.

This energy reminded me of fearful energy, as well as nervousness. Why does she feel so nervous all of a sudden?

"Well." My mom awkwardly whistled.

"Wait, mom." I grabbed her arm. "Look at me."

I was going to use this moment of direct eye contact to get into her head. I took a deep breath and slightly closed my eyes, before opening it and taking in her mind, as well as energy.

I think she's getting into touch with what she is. I- I don't know if I should be scared, or if I should toughen up and tell her about what she is, or lock her in the basement until we get that out of her.

So she noticed.

I think for the safety of her, and I- I should tell her what's going on.

"You're right." I sighed vaguely.

"W-what are you talking about?"

"Mom, I think we should talk, let me clean up this glass and meet in the kitchen in a few minutes okay?"

"For what Rue?"

"Please."

My mom sighed and walked towards the kitchen.

I went towards the picture that shattered on the grown and analyzed the hundreds of pieces it broke into. I crouched down to get closer to the glass and realized the only side that was actually shattered was the side of the picture in which my mom stood.

"How unfortunate." I sighed.

I picked up the big piece which contained Jeff and I and placed it on top of the coffee table, went to grab the broom and dustpan, and cleaned up the shattered picture of my mother.
