Blake at the top.

Blake's POV:

"Oh come on, Dimitri! You have to admit, that was pretty fun." I said as I removed my now sticky shirt. The lemonade had seeped through the thin material and glistened in the sun on my skin.

"Only you would find something like that funny." Dimi replied with a small grin as he shook his head. I laughed again as the memory of what occurred just seconds ago played in my head. Note to self: Don't publicly reject a girl when you're both standing next to a drink machine. You will get sticky.

"It's funny because it was unexpected. I've had girls do a lot of things to me when I reject them: key my car, call me names, and even slap me a couple times. But to take the gun of the soda machine and stick it inside my shirt and pants? Now that's genius." I finished with another laugh as I removed my pants also. I was now bare to everyone's eyes in the area. Many only glanced my way before continuing with their business. It helped that it was only members of my father's pride walking about, so they were used to seeing others naked.

Dimitri only rolled his eyes as he used my key to unlock the trunk of my car. I smiled gratefully at him before grabbing a water bottle to pour on myself, hoping to get the stickiness off. Then, I grabbed some clean clothes and quickly put it onto my still wet body.

"What was wrong with this girl anyways? From the way she had so much confidence, she would've made the perfect lioness for you." Dimi questioned as he leaned against my car, waiting for me to get dress. I shrugged uninterestedly.

"I don't know. I just wasn't feeling her I guess." I answered truthfully before slipping on my shoes. Once done, I looked to my best friend who was frowning at me. Making my innocent face at him forced a chuckle out of him which caused me to grin.

"You do know that she was the last available lioness in this pride, right? In less than three months, you've managed to go through every lioness you can, only to reject all of them as your mate."

That bit of information didn't bother me in the slightest. There was only about fifteen lioness around my age group in the pride. My father had the largest pride in Arizona, consisting of a little over fifty lions.

"None of them were the one." I replied, which only caused Dimi to shake his head again.

"You're hopeless."

"Yeah, but you love me anyways." I said as we got into my car.

"I have no idea why." Dimi replied before we shared another round of laughter.

"Honey, I'm home!" I shouted to no one in particular as I unlocked the door to Dimi's and my shared apartment. It was a small, two-bedroom rental that we moved into once we started our sophomore year in college. Directly across from the apartment's door was the sitting area. Directly to the left of the door was the kitchen. Between the kitchen and the living room were two doors directly across from each other that lead to Dimi's and my designated rooms. The flat was pretty cool, considering that both rooms had their own bathroom. It wasn't large, but it was all we needed at the moment.

Dimi shoved me out of the way so that he was able to enter the apartment, slamming the door behind him. He then proceeded to grab a beer from the fridge before plopping into one of the couches in the living room. I shook my head with a grin before slipping off my shoes and walking towards my room.

"I'm gonna go take a shower. Got to get the rest of this sticky lemonade off." I told him before entering my room. After shredding off my clothes, I lazily threw them into the hamper as I walked to the bathroom. The lights turned on automatically thanks to the sensors. I turned on the shower and didn't bother to wait for the water to set as I hopped right in. The freezing water caused me to jump before I moaned as it heated up and soothed my muscles.

I showered quickly before exiting the tub and wrapping a towel around my waist. I stood at the marble counter to look at myself questioningly in the mirror. My brown hair laid flat and wet on top of my head as my green eyes stared back at me. I knew I wasn't ugly, but why in the hell could I not find the perfect lioness to settle down with? No offense to Dimi, but living in the same apartment for the past five years was getting to me. I was ready to move out and start a family, or even just meet the perfect mate. Twenty-three might seem like a young age, but hell, I'm not getting any younger.

With a shake of my head, I exited the bathroom, knowing the lights would turn off automatically after some time. Instead of going to join Dimi in the living room with a beer of my own, I crashed into my bed once I had on my clothes. I grabbed my phone from the bedside table and saw that I had a text from my sister.

That actually got a laugh out of me. Who the hell uses the word "skank" anymore?

I raised my eyebrows as I read over Maddy's text. New shifters? That's interesting. We don't get many new people here in Grave Town. With a name like that, I wonder why. I thought sarcastically before remembering that I didn't respond to her.

I laughed out loud again. I could just imagine how outraged Maddy was right now. Do you know how hard it is when we learn we have new prey but aren't able to eat them? It makes the lions and lioness in us slightly irritated.

I set my phone back on the bedside table and put it to charge before standing up and exiting my room. Dimi was still sitting in front of the T.V. sipping his, mostly likely warm, beer. I plopped into the seat next to him, bumping my shoulders against his.

"What's up?" He asked, not taking his eyes off of the soccer game on the screen.

"We've got new sheep shifters in town. Maddy and I plan to go meet them tomorrow. You coming?"

"Maddy is going to be there. You know I'm in."

Any older brother would immediately start going ape-shit and protect their little sister from any older guy, but I knew Dimi. I knew that he has had the biggest interest in my sister since we were five and she was three. The poor guy was so strung up her. It was to the point that he is currently a virgin, waiting for his first time to be with my sister. Unfortunately, Maddy hasn't picked up on the signs and friend zones him unintentionally. Every. Single. Time.

"Dude, when are you going to get the balls to actually ask her out? She's the perfect lioness for you. I would know; she's my sister." I voiced, knowing exactly where this conversation would go; nowhere.

Dimi would shake his head and say that Maddy only sees him as a friend, and a bunch of other bullshit that would go through one of my ears and out the other.

"You know why that won't happen..." Cue the rambling.

I decided to zone out on the reasons why Dimi and Maddy wouldn't work that Dimi seemed to pull out of his ass. Instead, I thought about the new residents we were going to see tomorrow.

Was it a family or just close friends? How many of them were there? Would I be able to control my lion around them? Would Dimi and Maddy be able to? Maybe bringing two grown lions and a lioness to meet a bunch of sheep isn't the brightest idea. But, it was too late to take back the suggestion now.

"Dude, that's foul!" Dimi shouted at me, snapping me out of my thoughts. "You're not even listening!"

"What do you mean we can't go meet the sheep shifters?" I asked my father angrily as Maddy and Dimi stood awkwardly behind me. Being the leader of the pride, it was common courtesy to ask my father permission to visit the new residents. However, if I had known he would say no, I would've gone without asking.

"I mean exactly what you just said, Blake. I can't have you three going to scare the shifters away. You guys hardly have your lions in check, and seeing new prey would send them haywire." My dad answered back without glancing at me while he checked over some paperwork.

"What?! We so do have our lions in check." I replied immaturely as I crossed my arms in front of me. Dad glanced up at me with a raised eyebrow.

"Really? Have you ever been around sheep shifters? Did you know that they have a scent that sends most predator shifters wild?"

I kept quiet because I didn't know that. Why the hell didn't I know that?

"Exactly, Blake. You've never been around these shifters and I don't know how your lion will react. So, just to be safe, you won't be visiting them unless you're with me. With that being said, I'm letting them settle in before making sure that everything is okay this weekend. You can come then." He negotiated before going back to his paperwork.

I sighed in annoyance before turning and walking out of his office.

"Love you, kiddos!" He shouted as the door closed behind Maddy.

Maddy and Dimi chuckled as I just grumbled some more.

We headed outside and just stood there, looking out into the open space. There were many lions and humans walking around, but they didn't seem to care for our arrival. They went about their day as I pondered over what my dad had said.

"Looks like our day just freed up. What should we do now?" Dimi asked as he looked at Maddy expectantly, snapping me out of my thoughts. Unfortunately, Maddy found her nails to be pretty interesting as she shrugged uninterestedly. I rolled my eyes before smirking at Dimitri. He looked at me in confusion before his eyes widened as he moved quickly to grab me. I laughed as I side stepped him and put my sister in front of me, placing my hands on her shoulder.

"Why don't you take Madeline here on a date, Dimitri?" I suggested, causing Maddy to freeze in my arms as she glanced at Dimitri. Dimitri looked terrified as he glanced at me and then my sister.

"W-why would he do that?" Maddy questioned me. Since I was behind her, I couldn't see her face, but I didn't miss the hopefulness in her tone.

"Because the imbecile has a crush on you and never had the balls to ask you out." I answered with a smile. Dimitri had yet to say something as he opened and closed his mouth like a fish out of water.

"Is that true?" Maddy asked Dimitri as she stepped out of my hold. I smiled as she walked closer to Dimi who was blushing and nervously scratching the back of his neck.

"Um, yeah. Yeah, it's true." He said as he avoided eye contact with my sister.

"Ask me."

"W-what?" Dimi replied stupidly, and I almost wanted to smack him at the back of his head. It was obvious that my sister was into him and he just needed to ask her out already.

"Ask her on a date! Idiot." I cut in, causing both of them to growl lowly at me. "What? I'm just trying to push this along." I said with a grin. Maddy rolled her eyes at me before turning back to my best friend who looked a little green in the face. However, I watched in triumph as he took a deep breath before finally speaking.

"Madeline, will you go out on a date with me?" He asked nervously.

"Yes, I will." Maddy replied excitedly, causing Dimi to release a huge sigh of relief.

I smiled at my sister and best friend as they talked some more, blocking out the rest of the world around them. I was happy for them, but I also felt a little jealous that they had each other. It wouldn't be long before they both wouldn't need me and started a family of their own. With that thought, I sighed and walked away.

Now if only I could play matchmaker for myself.
