Sahara felt her whole body shiver, almost frozen in shock. A hard thumping sound approached them. Suddenly a large bulky creature, or creatures, started to materialize into their sight. What were they?

_____

Johnson watched as the two tranquilized young predators lay flat on two separate dissecting tables. They were breathing silently, their chest heaving up and down. Their skin was very reptilian, with the smallest on the left sporting a pale green undertone and green scaly epidermis, speckled with darker green, almost black, small spots. The larger, only by a few centimeters, had a lighter coloration, like a cream-peachy look for its underside, yellowish reptile-like skin and the similar dark spots covering its whole body.

"Are they...?" Head of the science research, Hudson, blinked a couple of times.

Johnson smiled underneath his mouth mask. "It's them."

_____

The field researchers and their guards raced through the mighty foliage with their pursuers hot on their tail.

Four?! Five?! The group estimated the monsters following them. The hunters appeared one by one whenever they switched from tree to tree. Clicking as well as roaring at each other. They were communicating, similar to a pack of wolves. Finally, all eight of them landed on the ground right on top of the group, separating every personnel from each other.

Santos and the other security member fired at the large hulking beasts with a barrage of their trusty machine guns. But to no avail, failed to even kill one of them. As the battle carried on between men and beasts, the researchers scattered out of fear.

"Go!" Santos shouted.

Noticing this, the other hunters, picked their own prey and pursued them with sinister clicks and growls.

"Run!" Malory shouted through the dense swamp.

Roland facing the watery area, Simon followed the footprints previously made that led back to camp, Malory wondered out further into the woods all followed by a hunter of their own. And Sahara, on the other hand, stayed and hid in between tree roots having sprained her ankle during the chaos from earlier.

'Eight of them,' Sahara thought, she peeked at the ongoing battle, only four monsters were there.

She retreated back, if there were eight, three left for an enjoyable chase, four was fighting the security team. Where was the last hunter?

Sahara viewed the battle befall in front of her. She watched as Santos threw his empty weapon and took out a small pistol from one of his straps.

"Sahara! The hell are you still doing here?!" Santos shouted in between shots. "Run you idiot!" Santos screamed.

Ignoring this she switched her focus from Santos to the other guard, he was struggling more since he was battling a large, ripped, giant. The monstrous creature made a roaring click, like a lion, before hovering itself up against the guard.

"Lookout!" Sahara shouted in warning, trying to shift from her place but was greeted with a violent pain tingling up from her injured leg.

The other guard turned his head around in response only to be met by another one of them. It grabbed him by the hand keeping him still until the other one unsheathed a blade from its wrist and jabbed the sharp weapon into the man's back.

The guard's back arched as he received the painful pierce while the tip of the blade exited through his stomach. With a loud guttural cry, the warrior pushed the dying body of the man and splattered the remaining blood off. The giant faced Santos who was occupied with the other.

"Santos! It's coming!" Sahara shouted, jarring from her hidden position.

Santos turned around but then received a painful blow on his left cheek causing him to be thrown violently into the waters of the swamp. He struggled to get up. Sahara immediately ran, despite her injury, to his side but before making it to him, an excruciating jab hit her right by her right side. One of them had suddenly appeared and loomed above her. There it was, the eighth predator was, all along, enjoying the gore.

Losing her consciousness, she watched in horror as Santos is impaled by combisticks from four different directions before finally losing her vision.

Malory breathed aggressively through her mouth. She could feel her legs giving up beneath her, but the thought of the beast chasing her kept her from succumbing. She could hear it, the sticks and branches snapping, the sound closer and closer every second. As she continued on through the swamp, the merciless environment started to take a toll on her. The land started to become soft and her legs were immediately pulled in.

The power of the marsh pulling her down as she struggled to get out. Luckily her free hand landed on solid ground, and with relief, finally pulling herself out as hard as she can. It was one mistake she regretted as a quick click rang into her ears. She looked behind her, the predator watching her from the other side of the marsh.

"What now?!" She yelled, "too scared to jump?" She laughed in between struggling breaths.

The creature suddenly let out a series of clicks, similar to a laughing fit, before an unpredictable comeback. "Too scared to jump?" It mimicked the woman.

Malory, who was too shocked to even say anything back, shivered with slight fear. It talked. It mimicked her. As she was rearranging her thoughts together, the creature suddenly jumped up and landed with ease behind her.

She snapped back and immediately looked for a weapon she could use to defend herself. A stick, rocks, anything. Her memory seems to snap back, she had a small pocket knife. She took the tool out and pointed it towards the alien, shaking in fear as she does. The creature cocked its head a little to the right and readied to its fighting pose.

It was much, much bigger than she was, but her instinct of surviving and soon, leaving this planet kept her courage from dropping. Malory let out a fearless cry as she charged towards the thing.

Roland gasped for air, turning to the water was a bad idea. First the mud at the bottom made it hard for him to move, second, he was being followed by a big humanoid alien. It could have been worse.

He dragged his body, arms swaying just above the water creating unstoppable ripples.

"I hate this!" He shouted.

The predator chasing him walked casually on the flat ground as if watching him like a swimming coach.

"What are you looking at?!" Roland screamed even more struggling as his leg seemed to have gotten tangled by a squishy, fleshy vine from under the water.

The big creature squatted down, its spear to its side and its covered head watching Roland in amusement. It was waiting for something to happen, of course, Roland couldn't tell since the creature's face was masked, but he knew he was being mocked.

Roland suddenly flinched from underneath, as the fleshy vines started to tighten itself around his leg. The sensation was very unnatural. The unrealistic clenches of the vines were too powerful to even be a vine, it had to be something, something...alive.

As Roland tried to pull his leg up, the vine kept tightening around his leg until he let out a ghastly roar of pain. He reached his right arm for his ankle and was suddenly surprised by the fleshy thing wrapped around his limb. It turns out it wasn't a vine or weed but a type of animal. As he struggled to pry the thing off, it suddenly raised him up with incredible strength, showing its pink and long body, resembling much like a worm.

Roland punched and pulled the creature but failed miserably as it started to puncture him with sharp, needle-like teeth that raced on its underside. The man let out a loud yelp as the thing started to feast on his juicy leg.

"H-help!" He shouted, turning towards the predator.

The predator just watched him in amusement, viewing him as the creature fully revealed it long slithery body and started to constrict Roland with its jello torso.

Still gnawing at the man's leg revealing the inside contents of his now mangled limb, with floods of blood dripping like a waterfall into the murky water, painting it red. Roland gasped for air, in clear pain, as he was being constricted to death at the same time, eaten.

The sound of heavy breathing and the hard pulsation of heart, Simon can see the camp at the edge of the long and impossible swamp. He was almost there, only a few more steps.

"Guys!" he called out to catch the others' attention.

Several heads poked up, in curiosity followed the rather exhausted yell. As they ventured a few walks away from camp, they spotted Simon. Rushing in to help him immediately.

Before they reached him, however, a silent whisper-like tone started to echo in the forest.

'Run...run...' it echoed. The two researchers looked around, it sounded very much like Malory.

Simon dropped to his knees, "thank god," he sighed, pure relief plastered onto his face.

"What happened? Where are the others?" One of them asked.

Simon looked back, he had been running nonstop that he didn't realize that his friends weren't there. Gulping, he stood up slowly and looked around the trees.

"It's here. It fucking followed me here!" He released a psychopathic noise. "Go! Run away!" He then ordered before pushing the other two researchers towards the camp's direction and running himself.

The three of them made it safely and were given a few looks by the others.

"Where's everyone?" One of the security asked.

Simon cleared his throat in exhaustion before continuing in clear panic. "Creatures. There are creatures in the forest. I-I... think they killed everyone."

_____

"This is stupid!" A security said, him walking back and forth in frustration. "Let's just leave! They're probably dead like Simon said."

A researcher walked up to him, "no we're not leaving!" She said.

Simon sat down on a plastic chair, keeping a look out towards the forest while fiddling violently with his hands. They're alive and they're going to make it. But are they really? Half an hour later, no noise or sign of life came from the ominous swamp.

"That's it! I don't know about any of you but those stupid science people are all dead!" The same guard said.

As soon as he said that, the distraught group was suddenly surprised by the hard knock of a solid object against one of the storage boxes.
