Krystina.

The next two weeks speed by in a blur. Things have been more hectic than usual. We've been taking on more and more clientele, which all boils down to more work for me, more stress, and less time with my little man.

Speak of the devil and he shall appear.

"Good morning, honey. Did you have a good night's sleep?" I ask Bryan as he comes into my room and climbs onto the bed and next to me. I pull him in for a long hug.

"Uhuh. I had a dream the we went on vacation with superman, and that he bought us ice cream and toys!" He tells me excitedly, doing the cute little thing he does with his hands.

"Superman, huh? That sounds like fun. Henry Cavill could take me anywhere in this galaxy and I'd go willingly." I say wistfully.

That man is proof enough that there is a God.

"Alright, we can't stay in bed all morning. Let's get cooking!" I say giving him a high five.

They're having a party at school today, and Bryan thought I'd be nice to volunteer to bring homemade brownies.

So here we are, baking two pans of brownies, at 6:30 a.m., on a Tuesday morning. Parenthood.

After letting him lick the mixing spoon, and making him take his vitamin right after, we put the brownies in the oven, and set off to get ready for day.

We head for Bry's room first. He's got a bit of a thing for Superman, as evident by the Superman bedspread, dresser, lamp, action figures on the floor, and posters on the wall.

"Okay, muffin. What are you planning on wearing today?" I ask as he looks around the closet.

He pulls out a dark blue, short sleeved button up, and a pair of dark blue shorts. He grabs his white clip on bow tie, and his white and blue nike shoes, before bringing it all over to me for approval.

I give him a thumbs up and usher him into the bathroom to wash his face and brush his teeth. He's been doing on his own since he turned four.

When he returns, he gets dressed, talking non stop about how excited he is for the party, and how jealous the other mom's will be when they're kids like my deserts best. This kid is hilarious. I really don't know where he gets it.

Once we're done in his room, we head over to mine.

"So, what do you think I should wear today?" I ask him as, we walk into my closet.

He heads over to shirt section, and like always, points to a silk blouse in the same color as the shirt he's wearing. Then he runs across the room, grabbing hold of the bottom of a pair of dark blue high waisted slacks, and yanking them off the hanger. "With these pants!" He says jumping up and down.

Note to self: Don't let him lick the spoon and bowl, ever again.

"I guess we're gonna be twins today." I say amused, getting a loud "Totally!" In reply.

I pick him up and sit him on the bed before turning on the television in my room. I put on an episode of gumball, and head into the bathroom to get ready.

After brushing my teeth and washing my face, I start unraveling the rollers in my newly auburn hair. Quickly fluffing them out to my hearts desire, I finish getting dressed an applying my makeup.

When I'm finally done, it's 7:30 and the house smells like brownies.

Bryan and I walk downstairs to take our masterpieces out of the oven, only to see Savannah and Kyle in the kitchen, both with a brownie in hand.

Bryan is livid. "What are you doing?!?" He yells frantically. "Those are for my class." He says standing on a stool, and swatting their hands.

I'm taken aback for a completely different reason. "We still have more than enough for your class honey. Calm down. But Sav, you don't even like chocolate. What are you doing?" I ask, eyeing her suspiciously.

She pauses, then looks up at me with a confused expression on her face. "You're right. I don't like chocolate." she says sounding even more befuddled than she looks. Her eating habits these past two weeks have gotten increasingly interesting. We're definitely gonna talk later, and the look she gives me tells me she agrees.

After wrapping the brownies, and eating a small breakfast courtesy of Kyle, we all head out.

I drop off Bryan at the preschool, saying a quick hello to the parents, teachers, and a few of Bry's friends.

"Have a great day honey." I tell him, kissing him on the cheek.

"I will. Have fun at work mommy." He says in reply, reaching up to hug me.

We say our goodbyes, and then I'm off to the office.

When I step out of the elevator Priscilla shoots up from her desk. "You have 10 new messages, a mandatory staff meeting at two, and Mr. Villarreal is waiting for you in your office. I'll have your coffee momentarily." She says.

"You're a doll, Priscilla." I say as I enter the office.

After repeatedly rescheduling because of prior engagements, Stephen, Nando, and I will finally be meeting to discuss the adjustments that Stephen wants made and the future of this project.

"Good morning, gorgeous." He greets me as I enter my office.

"Morning. Why are you here so early?" Our meeting isn't supposed to start for another 20 minutes.

"I actually wanted to talk to you about something. Everyone finally agreed on a date, and we're all gonna hang out on Saturday. I talked to Sav before you got here, and she's down for it. Think you could swing by for a bit?" He asks me hopefully.

I would be nice to hang out and catch up with everyone, but I know Steph will be there, and as much as I hate to admit it, I'm still not over what happened between us. And to make matters worse, I'm starting to feel guilty. Bryan's been bringing up the subject of his dad for weeks now, almost as if he can sense that he's near. I've been able to dodge for the most part, but I know times running out on that. I see the way he looks Kyle, and at the other dad's at school. He deserves a father.

Being around Stephen unnecessarily, will only make me feel worse about the whole thing. I need some time to figure this all out.

"I don't know, man. With everything that happened between me and Steph, I'm just not sure I want to be around him socially.
I'm still mad about the way things ended, and I'm pretty sure it's obvious to everyone. I'd just make things really awkward." I tell him, hoping he'll drop the subject.

It seems to work, as he doesn't say another word.

I'm checking my email when he calls out my name in a barely audible voice, which is odd considering he's moved his chair all the way up against my desk.

I look up at him, and our eyes meet. He has a look of sadness, confusion and frustration on his face. I'm about to ask him what's wrong, when he speaks first.

"Why did you and Stephen break up?"
