I woke up from a dreamless sleep as I registered movement behind me.

The arm that was previously wrapped around my waist rather tightly, loosened before the warm body behind me disappeared.

I quickly rid myself off the disappointment coming up within me as a cold gust of air crawled underneath the blanket, replacing Draco's warm body against my skin.

I hugged myself tighter, my previously closed eyes opening to see what he was doing. The blonde was tip-toeing towards the door, obviously trying to make as little noise as he could. Though, registering my movement, he turned around alarmed.

It was more of a reflex to quickly squeeze my eyes shut and pretend to be sound asleep.

His reaction made me wonder why on earth he was sneaking around his own room in the early hours of the morning.

He wasn't going to sneak out of his own room, was he?

But before I had the time to answer my own rhetorical question with a strong obviously not, because, where would he even be going, I heard the sound of the creaking door, and I opened my eyes with a slight frown.

It took me a moment to recognise the muffled voice on the other side of the door, though once I realised who it belonged to, my eyes widened.

What the hell was Wren already doing back here?

I took a deep breath, knowing that if she'd see me here, like this, I wouldn't hear the end of it.

"Have you seen Y/n-" She asked, her voice carrying a hint of panic in her voice after obviously not finding me in our dorm.

"Merlin, she's asleep!" I heard Draco say, his voice irritated as he tried to get Wren to lower her voice. Though, when she realised that meant I was here, it resulted in quite the opposite.

Her loud squeal was muffled by Draco telling her to shut the fuck up once more, and his harsh words seemed to do the trick.

My lips formed a deep smile as I followed their conversation. Every interaction they had always had me smiling from ear to ear for absolutely no reason.

The blonde disappeared behind the door for a few minutes; I could register their muffled voices, Wren's humoured giggles and Draco's annoyed rambling, but what exactly they were talking about, I couldn't understand.

I shut my eyes once more when the door opened again and heard the door fall into its hinges. Now that I was wide awake, it was hard for me to bite back the grin that was threatening to show as he came to a halt right in front of me.

"You're not asleep at all, are you?" He then asked knowingly, amusement lacing his voice as I imagined he had an eyebrow quirked.

I kept my eyes closed, though let the grin spread across my face in defeat.

"How did you know?" I opened my eyes slowly, Draco the first thing they locked onto.

Like I imagined, he had an eyebrow quirked as he looked at me, the corners of his lips curled up into a smirk.

"I've told you before. You're a terrible liar. And I guess pretending to be asleep falls under that category," He said, still humoured by the situation.

His eyes were locked with mine before his gaze fell onto the bed. "Move over," He mumbled, already pushing me to the other side of his bed before he even finished his sentence.

He crawled back under his blanket, though his body had cooled down by now; his fingers as cold as the metal of his rings as they grazed my thighs.

I flinched at the subtle touch, mostly because his hand felt like it was made of ice under the warm blanket. He huffed, amused at my reaction.

"You're cold," I mumbled to explain myself, moving further over so that he would fit in the small bed properly. Though, it was almost impossible to be in here without parts of our bodies touching.

"Fucking warm me, then," He snapped, rolling his eyes before muttering a sarcastic "asshole," as he tried to make himself more comfortable.

"Needy much?" I whispered, my mouth inevitably close to his ear before a giggle escaped my lips.

His head snapped in my direction, his eyes locked with mine and a smirk playing on his lips.

"You'd know all about that, wouldn't you?" He laughed lowly, head tilted. The sound making butterflies erupt in my stomach; his voice was so much deeper in the morning, and his laugh raspy.

"Please," I mocked, rolling my eyes. "The last thing I am is needy."

"Really? I remember differently," As the words left his mouth, he grabbed my chin gently, yet forceful enough to tilt my head; making me look right at him. "Don't you, Y/n?"

My breath grew a little heavier at the sudden tension between us, and I gulped, just looking at him without saying a word. "Don't you remember?" He repeated, his eyes darkening as his hand fell down to my neck, wrapping around the necklace to pull me closer.

"I remember a lot of things," I said, my lips turning into a smirk. He raised his brows, waiting for me to go on. "Being needy isn't one of them."

I watched as a mocking smirk placed itself on his lips, and his head tilted in amusement at my pathetic attempt to forget about how needy I really was for him that night.

"I'm sorry, it must've been someone else moaning my name, begging me to go faster the other night, then," He shrugged, probably enjoying the way my cheeks turned a deep shade of red.

"You're an asshole," I grumbled, swinging my legs out of the bed and getting up in one swift motion. I looked around the room a little clueless at first but then headed for the exit.

"Tell me something I don't know," He joked, getting up as well and catching up with me by the time I got to the door. He leaned against the wall next to it, eyeing me as I reached for the doorknob.

He was wearing a white long-sleeved shirt, and grey sweatpants he probably threw on when Wren woke us both up. I knew he didn't sleep in them.

His hair was messy, though he seemed like he slept alright; his under eyes were considerably less dark than what I was used to these days.

He looked good. Why did he look this good when he woke up no less than twenty minutes ago?

"What?" He wondered, and I turned red once more, realising I was staring right at him, only realising my lips were slightly parted when I closed my mouth.

"Nothing," I said, way too quickly, by the way, my gaze directed towards the floor.

"Nothing, huh?" He mocked, an eyebrow raised. "To me, it looks like you're admiring," He cooed, amusement still lingering in his voice. "Do you want to kiss me, Y/n?"

At that, my eyes snapped in his direction again, taking in the way he looked with his arms crossed, a smirk on his lips as he bit his lower lip in amusement.

And before I fully contemplated, I pulled him towards me, and my lips crashed onto his in a hungry kiss. He stumbled a few steps towards me, though quickly caught himself while the corners of his mouth turned into a genuine smile against my lips.

"I'll take that as a yes," He hummed against them, making me grin widely.

"I'd be concerned if you didn't," I joked, bringing a little bit of distance between us. "But I should go now. Find out why my best friend is here and all that before she tells half the school, including probably Dumbledore himself, what she thought happened between us last night. She's a sucker for spreading rumours if you don't ask her not to."

I didn't really want to go, but the fear of exactly that happening because she couldn't contain her excitement was too big.

At that, Draco's face became cold again; his body stiffening and showing me he was trying to distance himself from the situation.

I furrowed my brows at his shift in attitude, going over my last words again to make sure I didn't say anything that would've triggered it. I couldn't pinpoint anything.

"You should," He nodded, opening the door for me, his facial expression begging me to leave without another word.

I exhaled forcefully, making my way out of his dorm with the roll of my eyes. I should be used to it by now.

"You're unbelievable," I mumbled, trying not to get too irritated by his attitude as I grabbed the doorknob behind me and slammed the door shut before he had the chance to.

I didn't want him to have this much control about my mood and how I felt.

I didn't want my happiness to depend on whether he is or isn't talking to me. And I was done having it affect me the way it had been the last few times.

Even though I knew he had a lot on his plate, that didn't mean he could toy with me the way he had been. And as long as he didn't come and talk to me, told me what was going on, there was nothing I could do for him but give him just as much of an attitude as he gave me.

I walked over to my own dorm, trying to leave my thoughts behind while I braced myself for Wren.

"Y/n!" She exclaimed as soon as I opened the door, the girl eagerly sitting on top of her bed as she gestured for me to sit on mine.

"Wren," I smiled calmly. "What are you doing here?"

"I thought you were boring yourself to death here, so I wanted to keep you company for the last few days. I'm sorry, I didn't know you were getting laid, otherwise I wouldn't have!" She joked, a wide grin spread across her face.

I rolled my eyes with an amused sigh and shook my head. "I wasn't- well, not last night, anyway," I admitted, watching her eyes go wide and her mouth part slightly.

"Actually?!" She asked, and I nodded truthfully. At that, she jumped from her bed onto mine, an excited smile on her lips. "And he was-?" She inquired, dragging out her last word, her eyebrows wiggling to annoy me even further.

I groaned, letting myself fall back, my back hitting the soft mattress.

"Like, amazing," I huffed, my hands covering my face. "Almost suspiciously good." My cheeks were burning as the words left my mouth, but it felt like so long since I talked to a friend, I just wanted to let it all out. "That's the problem. Because he's been having these horrible, horrible mood swings recently, and he goes from being so sweet, to completely ignoring me in, like, minutes," I rambled on.

Wren's brows were slightly furrowed as she listened to my rant.

"It sounds like he's just confused," She said with a faint smile, though it was wiped off her face as she continued. "But I will beat his ass if you want me to."

I snickered loudly, amusement lacing my voice as I looked at her with a small smile. "Thank you, Wren."

I took a deep breath, sitting up straight again and looking at my best friend, an encouraging smile on her lips as she nodded. "But I don't think he's confused," I continued.

"He's not?" The tone in my voice caught her attention, and she raised an eyebrow as she waited for me to go on impatiently.

"There's a lot going on that I haven't told you about. Let me catch you up."

A/N: Oop, sorry lmfao
