"W-what?" I asked backing away from him.

"A date. With me." He said slowly making me glare at him.

"I understood that already! I meant it in a why-are-you-asking-me kind of way!" I huffed.

He chuckled.

 "You never fail to amuse me sunshine." He said smiling.

"No." 

I answered but my heart was screaming a yes beating a million times per minute. 

I am scared honestly, I am scared of my reaction towards him, I am scared of heartbreak, all this is very similar to what happened before and if it happens again...I'll break completely. I am scared of that because I really like him. Never did I think I'll feel this way towards him, but I do.

"I'm not asking you babe, I am telling you." He smirked and before I could protest he got on his bike starting it.

"I'll pick you up at seven sharp." He said and drove away while I stared at his retreating figure.

What just happened?

I sighed and went inside. Half of me was anxious while the other half was dying from excitement. 

I went to the kitchen to grab something to eat. I looked in the fridge, looks like I need to go shopping later. 

I heated my already made pasta and went upstairs to my room.

Picking up my phone I texted Cassie.

"Hey guess what"

"OMG! What?!" she replied instantly.

"Ryan asked me out on a date.." I replied biting my lip.

"HE WHAT!!!!??!!" I could practically hear her screaming.

"Today at seven, come over please? I have no idea what to do :("

"Best friend to the rescue! Be there in five!"

And as she had said, she barged in my room after five minutes panting.

"Why are you panting?" I asked confused.

"I literally ran up here!" She said gesturing with her hands for emphasis.

"Why?"

"Why? It's an emergency! And look at the time! It's almost four which means only three hours!" She said opening my wardrobe and rummaging through my clothes.

I laughed at her but then remembered what happened today in the cafeteria.

"What happened to Caleb?" I asked her making her freeze in her place for a second but then she shook her head and gathered some clothes turning around.

"Nothing happened to him, and concentrate on your date right now not him." She chuckled but something was off.

"Cassie." I said in a warning tone making her sigh.

"Tell me." I stressed.

She turned towards me keeping the dresses on the bed behind her.

"You really want to know?" She asked making me nod my head.

"He...he..likes you Mae.." She said closing her eyes while I felt like the ground has been removed from beneath me.

I sat there still for a moment trying to process this. 

"He what?" I whispered, "No Cassie...he can't! He does not!"

"It's true Mae..he told me this himself." She sighed.

"But he's like a brother to me! I can never think of him that way!" I started panicking.

"I know. That's why he hates Ryan." She said quietly.

 "And you know the worst part?" She said looking down.

"What?"

"I..I like him." She whispered biting her lip and I whipped my head towards her.

I opened my mouth to say something but no words came out. This was too much to take in.

"Oh Cassie!" I said and hugged her. "We'll figure something out okay?" I soothed her.

She nodded her head and jumped suddenly, "Time to doll you up!" she smiled beaming while I laughed. 

That's Cassie for you.

I looked at the clock in anticipation, 6:45 pm.

 I paced in my room while Cassie was flipping through a magazine lazily lying on my bed.

I was dressed casually in my black skinny jeans and a peach halter neck ruffled top, my hair was let down in soft waves. I wore mascara and covered my lips in a natural shade. Simple but sweet.

"Calm down girl, it's just a date." Cassie said throwing a pillow at me.

"Yup just a date. Just a date with Ryan Stone." I glared.

"Keep calm and take a chill pill." She said and I rolled my eyes.

Exactly at seven I heard my door bell ring and I started panicking. Cassie came over to me and held my shoulders.

"Keep calm Mae, everything will be alright." She said. 

I took and deep breath and went down.

Cassie was staying the night here, she went in the living room and made herself comfortable on the couch. I held the door handle closing my eyes and opened the door. 

I looked at him and my heart skipped a beat as my eyes took him in.

There he was standing in all his glory with his usual but sexy messy hair, I saw that even he was dressed casually and sighed in relief. He wore a tight light blue shirt which complemented his chiseled body  perfectly, his sleeves were rolled up to his elbows and had paired it with his dark denims. He smirked making him look ten times hotter.

  Control yourself Mae.

"So--" I started to say,

"So it's gonna be forever! Or it's gonna go down in flames!"  

I was cut off by Cassie playing a song on her phone.

Ryan chuckled while I glared at her making her look at me apologetically and mouth a sorry.

I looked back at him, "You look good--" He said but was again cut off,

"I just wanna look good for you! Good for you! Oh oh! Let me show you how proud I am to be yours, leave this dress a mess on the floor, still I look good for you! Good for you!" 

The song started playing as soon as Cassie turned the television on. I blushed a beet red at this while Ryan looked like he wanted to burst out laughing.

I turned towards Cassie who gulped and ran out of the room.

  Smart girl.

I sighed and looked at Ryan, we stared at each other for a moment then started laughing.

"I was going to say you look beautiful." He smiled as I tucked a strand of hair behind my ear.

"You too." I said shyly.

He scrunched up his nose, "beautiful?"

My eyes widened, "n-no! I meant to say handsome! handsome!"

He laughed and I felt like digging a hole and hiding there forever.

Someone please dig a hole?

"Let's go?" He held out his hand for me and I took it smiling.

"Let's go."
