Chapter 88

It seemed that those three girls, whose names, Adria was unsure of had made It their goal to find Adria alone as best as they could, which always seemed to result in her getting hurt somehow.

It was almost December, and Adria felt terrible that she was secretly using the foundation that Mary had brought with her to Hogwarts as a cover up for the nasty bruises she seemed to obtain from her greetings with the three.

Her friends, who thought Adria was back on the right track after her mothers death couldn't say that anymore. Whilst she used to enjoy spending time with Arden who had now met her other friends, and ultimately became good friends with them too, or Blair, Adria spent time alone now, cut off, and distant.

Even from Sirius.

Who was more concerned now than he was before.

It started off at the start of November, when Adria rushed through the Gryffindor common room, receiving attention from the few Gryffindor's scattered around, as well as her brothers and her boyfriend, who all seemed rather concerned when they shouted on her multiple times and she didn't respond, rather rushed up the stairs instead.

But it didn't take them long to realise that she was limping, or wincing as she done so, not to mention that she was cradling her face and was in far too much of a hurry to even greet them like she would usually do.

She was lying on her bed one morning before class where she had woken up much earlier than her friends to steal some of Mary's foundation before the girl could find out, but she knew that Mary was getting suspicious after finding the bottle almost half empty. Mary used the foundation on weekends, so it wasn't that bad that Adria was taking it, but she hadn't much left now, and she did feel terrible.

"Okay, i need to ask this," Mary sighed, "are any of you using my foundation, I don't mind, really, I'm just a little confused as to why it's running out so fast!"

"Nope, I have my own," Marlene laughed softly from her bed, a book in her hand which she was reading before school.

"I do too," Dorcas piped in, as did Lily from her own bed. It was clear that the only person who really would steal her foundation would be Adria, their skin tone was close in resemblance and Adria was the only one who didn't have a knack for make up like her friends did.

"Adria?" Mary trailed off, looking over at the silent girl who sat on her bed.

"No, why would i? I don't wear makeup, why would I need make up?" Adria rushed out, stuttering slightly over her words which ultimately made her friends feel rather suspicious.

"You don't," Mary trailed off, shaking her head, "I'm just asking is all, I didn't think I used this much already!" she laughed.

"Well I didn't use it!" Adria snapped, slamming her book of poems shut, which had become a haven for her, although she couldn't help but admit that her poems where getting a little darker, if she was honest.

She pushed herself up from her bed quickly, grabbing her things for the day ahead and without so much as a goodbye, she quickly rushed out of the dormitory, leaving her friends silent and rather shocked at what had just happened.

"Did I say something wrong?" Mary asked quietly, slightly wide eyed as she stared at the place which Adria once sat.

"No," Lily frowned, worry seeping through her, "I don't know what's going on with her lately," she sighed, shaking her head.

"It's like she's more distant than ever," Marlene piped in, "but I thought she was finally, gradually becoming her old self again, I thought she was coping."

"Well I can't say I'm not worried," Dorcas frowned, patting Mary on the back who looked completely guilty, "don't worry, Mary, it really wasn't your fault."

"Really?"

"No of course not," Marlene shook her head furiously, "we'll find out what's going on with her."

"Maybe we should ask Sirius?" Lily suggested, "although I haven't seen them together in a while."

"Well, why don't we ask him if he knows anything?" Marlene suggested, earning a nod from the girls around her which set them off in the direction of the Gryffindor common room, where thankfully, Sirius sat, a frown on his lips.

"You don't look so good," Dorcas commented as the four approached, watching as the boy turned his head to look at them.

"Because I'm not," Sirius grumbled, "I might be the only one, but have any of you noticed-"

"A change in Adria?" Lily completed, earning a nod from Sirius whilst a sigh left his lips.

"She just seems so-"

"Distant, and rather angry?" Marlene completed this time, earning another nod from Sirius who was rather relieved that he wasn't the only one getting this sort of treatment, but ultimately concerned for Adria.

"She just barked the face off of Mary," Dorcas sighed, "Mary only asked if she was using her foundation, not like she was upset, and Adria just snapped!"

"I think there's something going on," Sirius frowned, "which worries me, because I don't think it has anything to do with her mum."

"Then what could it be?" asked Lily, ignoring James who attempted to greet her.

"I'm not sure."

"What are you five talking about?" asked Remus as he joined the group, running a hand through his messy hair in an attempt to make it neater.

"Adria," Sirius sighed.

"She's acting strange," Peter commented.

"Thank you, Peter, we'd never have known if it weren't for you!" Sirius huffed sarcastically, rolling his eyes as he done so.

-

Adria's eyes stared back at herself through the mirror one after noon at the start of December, classes had just ended and she decided to hide herself for as long as she could. She found herself transforming a lot more into her animagus in an attempt to hide from the three girls that caused her so much misery.

The reflection in the mirror didn't feel like her, she didn't see herself as her reflection showed. She was bare faced, her frown didn't match who she thought she was, the fresh cut that grazed her lip didn't belong on her face.

She was different.

It was safe to say that Adria's fifth year wasn't her favourite, in fact, it was rather terrible, and three girls had just made it much worse.

They used spells this time, spells Adria blocked as best she could, and whilst she blocked most of them, one or two slipped past her barrier, knocking her into the wall behind her which send pain spiralling through her body.

She finally worked out that the girls just didn't like her, they were sick of hearing the name Adria Hopkins around school to the point that they decided to target her, to call her vile names, to put her down and inflict pain upon her, even though she hadn't done a thing to them.

She was trying her best not to cry, she already felt weak as it was but to see her reflection just seemed like a disappointment to herself, and to her mother. She didn't feel at all like a Gryffindor over the past time that the girls had hurt her, and it frustrated greatly.

She just wished she had the motivation and braveness to stick up for herself.

She had given up, she didn't care about hiding her cuts and bruises anymore, seeing as the pain and torture wasn't going to end any time soon, she had enough of it, it was far too much effort.

So as she walked out of the bathroom, slipping into the crowd of people with a forced smile onto her lips, she was unsure what all the commotion was. People rushed in the opposite direction, pushing people left and right to get a better look at something, so much to the point that Adria was rather curious.

She turned on her heel, stalking off down in the direction the other students where going, and pushing herself through the crowd, she watched with anger instantly taking over her face when she saw Alina, wide eyes struck with terror, on the floor, with her nose bleeding and three girls standing over her, laughing as they done with Adria.

She may not have the motivation to stick up for herself, but no one messed with Adria's siblings, no one messed with the kind hearted, beautiful Alina.

Adria took a step forward, showing off her cuts and brusies to the crowd who silenced as she stepped forward, a look of disgust casted at the crowd who done nothing to stop the girls, "get away from her," Adria growled, her hands at her side, curled in fists.

"Oh look, the sister," the girl, Jessica, she finally knew her name, laughed, "how'd you get that bruise, Addy?!" she gasped, feigned shock on her features.

Adria felt her blood boil at the nickname reserved for her family, and her friends, that didn't deserve to come out of the girl's lips.

Adria wasn't one for violence, she really didn't see the need for it, and seeing as she had plenty of violence inflicted upon her for the full school, she took another route, she grabbed her wand from her boot, aiming it at Jessica's heart, she muttered an unknown incantation to Jessica, striking her quickly before she could block it, Jessica's long head of hair simply fell to the ground, leaving her bald.

Adria had used the instant scalping hex on her, instead of inflicting her pain, Adria inflicted her with Humiliation, a tactic which was sure to stick with the girl for much longer.

She heard the snickers of the crowd around her, watching as the two girls who clung to Jessica was unsure of what to do now, wide eyed as they watched the dark eyes of Adria trail over them, "Anteoculatia!" Adria shouted, casting her wand in the direction of Jessica's follower who towered over Alina still on the floor with her eyes wide and mouth open in shock.

I The girl, Charlotte, gasped, a shriek leaving her lips as her head grew horns that stood out on her head, the crowd around Adria was laughing loudly, wondering what Adria was going to do next, they all couldn't help the guilt bubbling in their stomachs for not helping Alina.

"Steleus," Adria whispered, once again in the direction of Jessica who was still shrieking over her lack of hair, in a few seconds, the girl was sneezing uncontroalby, unable to stop herself as she clasped her hand over her nose, feeling as dizzy as ever as she clutched the wall.

Adria mumbled the incantion, her wand in the direction of Maya who attempted to run through the crowd, but Adria got her before she could, watching the girl stumble back, and as the girl went to scream, her tongue had turned into a large horn sticking out of her mouth, her eyes wide as she flailed around.

Adria looked over her work, she was sure the girls wouldn't bother her now, but she was a lot more worried for Alina who she rushed over too, scanning the girl for any bruises, cuts or scars which she thankfully couldn't seem to find. She helped the girl up off the floor, dusting her sibling down, and unaware of the crowds silence as she muttered furious 'are you okay?' over and over again whilst she wiped the blood from her baby sisters nose.

"I should be asking you that," Alina whispered, her thumb grazing over the blood on Adria's lip whilst her eyes trailed over the black eye on Adria's face.

"I'm fine," Adria nodded, squeezing her sister's cheeks, before she turned around, her eyes widening slightly at the sight of McGonagall, and Flitwick, both wide eyed as they looked at the three girls in front of them, unsure how a student could perform such complex hexes.

"Adria Hopkins, with me, now!" McGonagall shrieked. Adria caught the sight of her friends, all wide eyed, all staring right at her as she passed, but Sirius, he wasn't going to let her go with McGonagall alone, so he followed, rushing after her, ultimately stopping the two on their way back to McGonagall's classroom.

"Adria what happened to you?!" he exclaimed, Adria turned at his voice, making sure to wipe the blood that still dropped from her lip slightly, but he was much more concerned for the large bruise taking over her eye.

"I'm okay, Sirius," she whispered, taking note of McGonagall staring, she didn't want to keep her waiting, "I'll meet up with you later, I'll tell you everything, I promise!"

"No, I'm coming with you," he said, grabbing her hand in his, and with his gaze on McGonagall, the woman sighed, shaking her head as she continued down the hall.
